Vallarta Supermarkets

I used to go to this Vallarta a lot before a new location was built in Sherman Way. I always check their weekly ads for specials. I like buying fresh fruits and veggies here in affordable prices. I also love their bakery for freshly made bread and other pastries. I have also bought tacos, tamales, and other Mexican food in their hot food section. They also sell nice plants here.

I would love coming back here but I just can't get past the smell as soon as I enter the store. It smells fish to me so I think this store needs a thorough cleaning to get rid of that smell. Until then, I'll keep visiting the Sherman Way store instead.

Great prices, friendly staff. Wish they had more organic food and more hard to get vegetables and Teas from Central America

They have good veggies and the fresh made guacamole is great. The tamales in the pressure cooker looking things aren't very good. Usually dried out.

The massive issue I took with this location is that the store's kitchen "La Cocina" was EXTREMELY unhelpful with answer questions about pricing and sizes of their Party Trays. There was a lot of back and forth when the English speaking representative had to ask staff questions. When I ask one too many questions because his pricing didn't match that of the websites, they hung up on me.
After calling back to speak with the manager, Sergio, he seemed rather evasive when it came to the customer service provided and directed me to order in store. He rushed me off the phone and did NOT further address the issue. I'm not a big reviewer on Yelp and take little issue with customer service interactions but this was awful. Top to bottom.

I just paid $10 for an XL container of refried beans from your hot food department and discovered that the beans are canned. I have been dining here for years and years, always love the food. This is the first time I have been served canned refried beans and I am furious!! If the cooks are out of their famous homemade beans then they should SAY SO and not be charging customers $10 for beans that cost $1.00 a can. I am FURIOUS. This is VERY uncool and shady business practice. In this current financial crisis, families cannot and should not be paying that kind of money for something they could just buy off the shelf. I am so SICK of being burned everywhere I go!!! SHAME ON YOU, VALLARTA!!

I like this spot for specific dry good, special veggies, salsa, and meats. The store is clean staff is nice. There's a nice size selection of dry chillies and herbs. Of your into pork their hot deli is full of pork cooked different ways. The tamales are decent, still trying to find a bomb tamale spot.

This store is small but efficient. The employees there are cool but every visit I'm entertained by the cashiers at checkout because it seems like management is draining the souls out of them. It's the look in their eyes of hypnosis, the depleted body movements, and emotionless facial expressions. It's like a trance.

I went in today with my kids, as I'm about to pay my baby starts crying and the cashier Erika was absolutely no help literally threw the bags and stared at me awkwardly, watching me struggle with my kids and packing my groceries. I understand in some circumstances cashiers are too busy and sure I've packed my things before but this time I really felt like I was being judged by a young girl who was lazy & just hates her job.

This place has gotten so posh. Their range of fresh ceviches is something I haven't ever seen anywhere in the world, ever. Better than the Sherman Way location by the Burbank Airport and walking distance down the street from me, so take that into account with this review!

Love Vallarta! Best fresh salsa. And I love their carnitas tacos, ribs, yummy prepared foods.
