Do you have to be 21+ to get in?
A:
I think so. At night. I think after 7pm, because they have a security check to get in after 7pm or so.

I have dined here several times before, but today was exceptional! When I arrived I was greeted by the very charming and handsome manager, Myron who formerly managed G|S Lounge Inglewood. Although I had no reservation, he told me that a table would be available once the rest of my party arrived. He came out to check on me thrice before my friend arrived. We were seated right away and our server took our order. She kept a positive and gracious attitude even we kept ordering more drinks, food and even a table change because another friend joined us much later.
Myron came to check on us before dessert and found a new table to accommodate our additional guest.
The restaurant is beautiful, the restroom was clean, and the staff pleasant.
We both ordered the fried salmon and grits, chicken wings, virgin mojitos, and butter cake. Everything was delicious! The virgin mojito was outstanding...wow! Albeit, it was way overpriced @ $16. That butter cake should be the first thing you order because you'll want to eat the whole thing before getting full off food. It was decadent, not ridiculously sweet, and will definitely satisfy your dessert craving.
The sexy saxophonist was so very entertaining. I didn't catch his name or number ;-) He played some classic Michael Jackson, old school jazz and R&B and more current songs including an Afrobeats tune. He really engaged the crowd and wooed the ladies with private serenades at each table.
I will be going back very soon.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 8572072604May 12, 20241 check-in
Okay, here we go. I request the G.S quite often and have never had poor service nor bad food.
Here is my issue and the reason for the 3 stars.
The day before the Women's NCAA finals we called The G.S to see if they would be showing the game; we were told yes.
I arrived first. I was immediately seated and given a menu. About three out of the 10-12 televisions were on but none were on the channel that the game was coming on.
I asked the person who brought me the menus of they were going to turn the game on, he replied , he didn't know and for me to ask someone else, as he pointed to a gentleman near the bar.
I got the man's action and he came over to me.
I asked him if they were going to show the championship game, his reply was, what game. I said the women's NCAA semi-finals he said I'm not sure let me go ask someone.
He walked to the back of the restaurant like into the kitchen area. I assumed (there I go assuming again) he was going to ask someone about the game. I sat there sipping my water and looking at a menu for what seemed to be forever (because I was getting anxious because the game was starting) in actuality it was somewhere around 5-10 minutes. and the man never came back out.
So at this point I threw in the towel, called Fridays they already had the game on and we went there to watch instead.
I was extremely disappointed the way I was brushed off. If they said y want to show the game , then fine don't show it but dang they didn't have to be so rude about it .
Although I was totally mad as heck at the point this will not stop me from going back.
As I had already stated , the food is AWESOME!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shellneisha J.Los Angeles, CA8710May 1, 2024
Only two stars because I do enjoy the ceasar salmon wrap. However, this evening I walked in for a to-go order and the male cashier at the front with the dipped in gold dreadlocks asked "what you want?" Certainly, distasteful. I would of went home but I didn't take out any chicken for dinner.
I've spent money here plenty and this has never happened. I do hope it is the last.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 11, 2024
I'm beyond pissed at the level of fu*kery I recently experienced. Others and I have spent a good penny supporting this establishment to date. We've watched PPV boxing, other sports, brought out-of-state guests, watched live bands plays & never paid for tables or entry. EVER!!
I made reservations on Jan. 5th to celebrate my birthday/Super Bowl (2/11). I called last Sat. to confirm. Shelly informed me that managers were meeting to decide if tables would be sold. I was asked to call back when a general manager was in. On Sun I spoke to Kenny. He ASSURED me my reservation would be honored.
On Mon eve., Cori called. She quoted the price of a table, ~$200. Nope! She seemed a bit upset because Kenny didn't consult with her before "misinforming" me about my FREE reservation. Not my problem. Cori asked if I was interested in paying 1/2 price if it was approved. Again, NO! Why should I when it was FEEE to reserve a table on Jan 5th!! She said she'd call right back and never did.
On Tues, I received a cancellation text. I called Cori and got no answer. So I began expressing how upset I was via text.
First, management had an entire year, even months, to plan for this game. They did not. They could and SHOULD have honored all previously made reservations as a gesture of integrity. They would NOT! ZERO flyers were posted on social media about Super Bowl Sunday until Tuesday, well after my reservation was canceled and 30 minutes before I called Cori. Still, ZERO advertisements mentioned anything about purchasing tables.
This is a perfect example of greed and low class business practices. Management would rather gain a few extra dollars for a once a year event than keep 6 customers who have lucrative jobs, returning to their establishment. My text was very clear that I would post a negative review with screenshots, names, and dates to show how this establishment lacked professionalism and did NOT stand on business.
Icing on the cake: after all of my texts, Cori called to tell me that MY reserved table was no longer available. They would "accommodate" my friends and me BUT we'd have to come at 3pm instead of 3:30. Laughable! How about "accommodate " the party they sold the table to at the last minute. I was no longer interested in spending my money here or bringing in anyone else's. And MY people wonder why WE don't support them!! Love it here. Food is good, music is great, drinks are strong. Love the ambiance & being around my black people. Differently a vibe.

I've been to The District a couple of times. The food is okay. The fried items are greasy but the flavors make it tolerable. The service was slow. The music makes it a pleasant spot to hang out and socialize. Cute decor.

We had a very nice Sunday brunch experience - I just wish I had gotten the wings instead of tenders! They looked perfect.
The ambiance here is really cool - pretty backdrops for pictures and there is live music on Sunday - jazz. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly, service was pretty decent. The bloody Mary was perfect! I also had the deluxe chicken and waffles, which comes with potato hash and eggs. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted pretty good, but nothing I'd write home about. Portion sizes are pretty big and, again, the wings looked fantastic! I'd come back just for those.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - Marva D.Inglewood, CA241316May 11, 2024
This Black establishment, my people treated me and my aunts like we didn't matter, I had reservations and was seated by a guy who had no customer service skills, none of my reservation request were honored, then shortly after being seated my table was asked to move because a party of 50 people was on there way.... NOT IN THE RESTAURANT BUT ON THEIR WAY.... The waiter kept saying y'all giving me a hard time like something was our fault, he refused to get a manager... I'm so tired of being asked to patronize my own people when my own people could care less about me and my party of 5, I'm done with the District and it's classless antics, we celebrated my aunts 69th Birthday at Paul Martins in El Segundo were the food was delicious and the service was impeccable, our table even got a visit from the manager... I'd never step foot in the district again

This was my first visit since they remodeled Crenshaw Live and it's now The District by GS. The decor is wonderful, the Staff is warm and welcoming. I was impressed that I like the chicken strips, since normally I don't order those out. Our server, a gentleman affectionately nicknamed "Big" was great!! We had a party of about 25 that had a few arrival time changes and he was happy to accommodate our schedule.
My only concern was they were short staffed. "Big" advised us of this upon our arrival. He asked for our patience and understanding. It was no problem for us, he and his staff worked diligently to accommodate our party and two other large parties.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 556149136Mar 26, 2024
Popped into this spot for takeout tonight and it was pop'n 10 out of 10. My homie and order the lemon pepper chicken wings, a salmon burger, crab cakes, fried cauliflower, the fettuccine with grilled chicken (this was so huge ). At first I thought the price point was too much but this is adequately priced for portion sizes. The service was quick too. We ate this too quick before we had a chance to snap photos. Check this place out. We opted for takeout cuz ain't nobody got time for a dress code. I'll be back!
