Ordered their Chicharron, HUARACHES DE CARNE Res steak, tostones, and mexican bean and rice.
Hands down their Chicharron was perfectly crisped with the moist meat. Wish their ratio of fats to meats was a bit more evened out but overall it's good fatty goodness!
Beans & Rice. What I need to say? If you can't make simple beans & rice you need to close down. Luckily they got that down.
The Tostones is always welcome and crispy! Love their dip!
and the last HUARACHES DE CARNE Res steak... was probably the most let down.
I know this dish isn't suppose to be scorching hot, but gawdddd danggit ! the entire dish was cold. Cold to the point where it tasted like it just came out of the fridge. I wish I can say better things but either our driver was driving so slow that it frozed over or it just didn't seem like it was warmed up properly.
All in all. I would give them another shot!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Knowledge C.Queens, Queens, NY036129May 4, 2022
I always come here for my tacos. As a Far Rockaway local, I grew up eating Tacos y Mas. The birra tacos were on point as well as everything else. If I am not buying Birra Tacos then I am getting nachos from here. They really care about the food they are serving you make sure to ask for extra green sauce if you like spicy !!!
PS all the tacos have some type of avocado sauce that taste good !!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mikey E.West Hempstead, NY7417Jun 13, 2023

This restaurant is a very unassuming place. You may almost miss it as you walk the main street (mott avenue) of Far Rockaway. However the food is exceptional and authentic.
This restaurant is one of the few places that serves papusas (a griddle cake made with rice flour). You do have to give the restaurant at least 20 minutes to make the papusas but the end product is well worth the wait.
I ordered the Papusa Frijol Queso. The papusa itself was moist and very tender. The cheese and beans were nicely cooked and flavored. Overall an outstanding dish.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant for some authentic Central Latin American food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jay Q.Bronx, NY03May 7, 2023

Orders a torta of carne enchilada and it so nasty. And the flan is not good at all. Never again.

Let's start with it's Expensive. My girlfriend and I ordered the following
3 Fried Pork Chalupa's ($10.00)
3 Chicken Chalupa's ($10.00)
1 order of Nacho's ($9.00)
1 Large passion-fruit Juice (In a bag)
1 Small purple juice (In a bag)
The juices were very bad to taste, not sweet. The bags that the juice was in came very sticky on the outside and it stuck up all my fingers. Each of the Chalupa's were severely under-seasoned and just underwhelming. They had this weird cheese on them it was white and lumpy ( did not enjoy). The last chance for this place was the Nacho's and that couldn't save them. The cheese on the Nachos was like "Kraft" sliced American cheese and when they got to us the Nachos were like congealed together. The cheese arrived hard and not gooey. Which makes me think it was put into the microwave and then served to us. All in all the food was expensive and not up to par in my honest opinion. Just go to TACO BELL. It's cheaper and the food will be seasoned and they use real cheese for the Nacho's.
Maybe they should work on their actual seasoning instead of spending their entire budget on the row of flat screen TV's that do nothing but show the really long and expensive menu.
Very disappointed, will not be returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - ABayAreaResidentWhoSpendsMoney 1.Oakland, CA162Feb 4, 2022
Yummy food * Great price * Service from Jasmine was extraordinary
My airplane had just landed. I was staying in a nearby lodging. I wanted a simple vegetarian meal. I had just had a horrible experience with a rude manager in nearby "Sunny "restaurant. (I refused to eat there after talking with the manager. See my scathing review.) I walked into Tacos Y Mas hoping for something different - and did they ever deliver.
Jazmine was phenomenal in walking me through all the options available to me. (I couldn't have the rice because they cook it in chicken stock. But they could substitute corn, cassava, and more. The beans *are* vegetarian because they don't add lard -- and she described the differences between the bean options. She also suggested several food combinations that made for a tasty meal.)
My meal was delicious - and the price was very reasonable. Jasmine was great. She was extraordinarily focused on the customer/diner, making sure that I had the best experience. I was very generous with my tip - and she deserved it!
I recommend this place highly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
