Q:
How does the new vegan caramel cupcake compare to the non vegan version? I love and miss the original, and I'm trying to decide whether to include the vegan one in my order. How are they similar/different?
A:
Great Question! These flavors are super similar. Our Renewal Mill's Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcake (v) is made with a vanilla oat milk cream with the same chocolate cupcakes and salted caramel buttercream frosting turned vegan! It might be a touch… more
Customer S., Business Manager2 years agoQ:
How large is the single scoop and split scoop? Are both 4 oz? or 8oz?
A:
I don't know exactly how many ounces they are. It varies depending on who's scooping your ice cream. In theory the split scoop should be the same size as a single scoop but in my experience you get more when you order a split. I'm a big guy and a… more

The seasonal flavors for May were delicious! The pistachio saffron and rose water flavor was my favorite - the cake inside was super moist; Jasmine milk tea and chocolate almond stracciatella was delicious as well.
Obviously, the store smelled amazing and was quite busy on a Tuesday after dinner. Most of the seating inside was taken. The service was very friendly as always. Make sure to ask for samples of flavors you want to try!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aracely M.Chicagoland, IL41823May 3, 20241 check-in
TLDR; Exceptional ice cream in a shop with fair prices. Don't let long lines deter you away.
As an ice cream lover, Salt & Straw is top tier ice cream! My boyfriend and I came to visit this location as we were craving some late night ice cream during our vacation in Seattle. There is no Salt & Straw locations from we are from, so it was exciting to try! I recommend Salt & Straw to anyone who is a fellow ice cream lover, you'll taste the difference!
At first I was intimidated because there was a line out of the door at 10pm while it was 30 degrees out, but they are pretty fast at getting you in and out! The ice cream shop has lots of seats and standing room for you to enjoy your cone!
I personally got a double scoop of the chocolate gooey brownie and double fold vanilla in a waffle cone. My boyfriend got a double scoop of honey lavender and double fold vanilla in a waffle cone. The honey lavender is only one of their wacky limited flavors, I would definitely recommend sampling their flavors because they're pretty solid! The actual ice cream itself tasted great. I feel like you can tell it's better quality ice cream because it tasted rich and creamy, their vanilla was the best vanilla ice cream I've had, and so potent!
I will miss the Pacific Northwest, they have definitely proved their ice cream is better than some other chains I've tried in the Midwest.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jenny H.Seattle, WA194051Mar 19, 2024
There's something about ice cream on a warm sunny day that hits the spot and salt and straw always hits it extra hard. Line was long as it was a warmer day but it always moves quick.
This month I tried their cereal flavors and my favorite by far was the pot of gold and rainbows. It might actually be one of top flavors period!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Excellent ice cream! I also tried their rhubarb (loved it) and olive oil (not to my taste). Amazing flavors, fantastic service, and the ambiance was chill and casual.

Best ice cream in Seattle, hands down. No place ever does it as good for me!!!!
My go to is the salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough - if you want the perfect blend of salty and sweet GET THIS.
Depending on the time of the year, you might see a line and will have to wait 15 min but so worth the wait and it moves quickly. The staff are so kind and will let you try an endless amount of flavors.
Not really much space to sit in the place but I'd recommend taking the ice cream and going to Cal Andersen nearby to enjoy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Last night was my first time trying Salt & Straw and right away I knew it was going to be an unforgettable experience. This is not your ordinary ice cream shop. This establishment stands as a beacon of artisanal ice cream craftsmanship. From the moment you step through its inviting doors, you're greeted by a whimsical atmosphere and the irresistible aroma of freshly made waffle cones.
The staff is incredible. I want to give a special shout out to Wyatt who helped elevate the entire experience from start to end. From his helpful-encouraging attitude to his vast knowledge, he radiates a warm passion that not even the ice cream itself can keep cool. Thank you for taking care of us. Whoever is lucky enough to encounter him, they are surely in for a treat!
Salt & Straw's commitment to quality is evident in every scoop. Their menu, inspired by local ingredients and creative flavor combinations, offers a delightful array of options, ranging from classics like Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons to inventive creations like Honey Lavender and various fun cereal flavors. I highly recommend giving the Pots of Gold & Rainbow and Peanut Butter Brownie Cereal Puffs a try! Each flavor is carefully crafted to tantalize the taste buds and evoke a sense of culinary adventure.
As Wyatt has shown, the staff at Salt & Straw embody the spirit of hospitality, providing friendly and knowledgeable service that enhances the overall experience. Whether you're a first-time visitor seeking recommendations or a regular patron returning for your favorite flavor, you're sure to be met with warmth and enthusiasm.
The ambiance of the Capitol Hill location adds to the charm of the Salt & Straw experience. Situated in a vibrant neighborhood known for its eclectic mix of shops and eateries, the ice cream parlor exudes a cozy yet lively vibe, making it the perfect destination for a sweet treat any time of day.
Salt & Straw is more than just an ice cream shop in Capitol Hill--it's a destination where flavor innovation meets community spirit. Salt and straw is always a good spot. They rotate their special flavors each month, but do have regular flavors. Service can be either fast or slow, depending on if there's a huge line or not. The shop is cute, has some seatings inside and out.
Street parking only and can be a struggle finding some. If you can't find street parking, I do recommend a paid parking lot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Limited seating. Dark ambiance with some dull yellow lighting. Was pretty busy on a Wednesday night. All the seats were taken. There was a short line.
I enjoyed the ice cream flavor I got, which was the sea salt w/ caramel ribbons. I love the mixture of salty and sweet. I also tried the gooey brownie flavor was good as well. Decent place to get ice cream when you're craving for it while in cap hill!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Really not sure how I feel about a lot of the flavors here. They are very unique and cool, but honestly a lot of them just didn't work for me. I think it was mostly the textures that made it difficult for me to enjoy. Luckily the person behind the counter let me sample multiple different flavors and I could figure that out before deciding on a final flavor to order. I loved how they had reusable mini spoons as actual silverware to sample with, and a cute little chute to return them back to in the counter. Very sustainable!
I ended up getting a split scoop of the cinnamon snickerdoodle and the salted caramel ribbon. The cinnamon snickerdoodle had a bit too much grittiness for me but the flavor was great. The salted caramel ribbon was perfect and next time I would probably just get that alone.
They also have many flavors they rotate out seasonally, so you could always come back and try something new later. Very very unique flavor and food combos in these ice creams. They are really going out on a limb with these ones.
The inside was also decorated very nicely, I liked it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I feel like Salt and Straw has always just been an okay ice cream shop for me. There's always a line, and they do have some interesting rotating flavors. I typically sample the seasonal ones, but they never seem to be as good as my go-to which is the chocolate gooey brownie. Even then, I feel like I could get better at the grocery store for cheaper.
