From NYC to LI's east end Saaz has my favorite Light crispy tandoori made Naan bread.
Ambiance is nice enough for a nice dinner out with drinks. Relaxed enough for lunch. Staff is low key and helpful.
Lunch buffet's let you sample their variety of items - they change items often so it's not the same.
Dinner is regular menu. All dishes are made from scratch on premises by their cola from Bengal India.
It's a pleasant stop when in Southampton.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Jan 11, 2015Previous reviewA traditional Indian restaurant has come to the east end, located on County Rte. 39 in Southampton. On the south side of the road, plenty of parking as its before the village and before the roads narrow into Montauk Hwy. etc. Getting there relatively traffic free even in season should be easy.
Traditional food, including Tandori Chicken, Naan, Goat, Paneer etc. Nice mixed vegetable dishes also. All were good and worth returning for.
Casual enough to stop in for a quick lunch, and could easily be a spot for a quiet dinner with pleasant ambiance nicer inside than out. - Pax M.New York, NY02954Apr 3, 2024Updated review

Good service and good food. I can't really say much more than that at face value. Price is reasonable to me for the portion sizes they provide and the staff is very attentive. I'll say I don't have much experience with Indian Cuisine but of the few I have tried in my area, I'd say this is one of my favorites.

Reliably solid Indian food that will not disappoint. Incredibly friendly managers and staff who know their guests personally...and the guests know them too! This is a staple of the community and is perhaps the only Indian restaurant for miles and miles, which is wild considering how good Indian food is. Given its location, expect slightly higher prices and slightly smaller portion sizes -- but all in all, very well worth it.

I love Indian food and I'm always excited to try new places. That being said I know that Saaz has been a staple spot that I hadn't gotten the chance to visit. I ordered takeout via Uber eats.
I got the lamb rogan josh, mango lassi, naan, basmati rice, and meat samosas. I'm surprised that the rice isn't automatically included in the cost of the lamb rogan josh but that's minor.
So overall thoughts on the food...
The lamb rogan josh was delicious. The sauce was a little thinner than what I'm used to. The amount of meat for the portion was adequate. Overall a beautiful symphony of spices collided.
The basmati rice was bland. Not really much flavor behind it. I know that it's a vessel for the curry but it didn't hit the spot. I've had much better rice at other places.
Naan was perfect. No complaints on my end and the same applies to the samosas. They weren't oily and were perfectly seasoned.
The mango lassi was the star of the show. Absolutely wonderful and a perfect way to wrap up dinner.
I'd definitely order from here again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janine B.Manorville, NY667Mar 30, 2024
As a great lover of Indian food I was sorely disappointed to see Saaz is still serving subpar dishes. I had the fish vindaloo of which I was told was made from scratch. The sauce was watered down, the fish tasted as if it had been boiled and added last minute. The rice pudding was bland, the basmati rice was decent and the naan was filling. For the price the food did not live up to the Indian standards of which I am accustomed. I suggest traveling as far West as you can if you have a real craving or simply want to introduce someone to this cuisine.

The Quick: Excellent Indian food at moderate prices. Impressive wine list (Opus One, Silver Oak, Dom Perignon - all reasonably priced as well). Great service, very accommodating and my water glass was always full. Tons of vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian and meat options. Great flavor, will return.
The Details: We ordered Lasooni Gobhi (spicy, saucy cauliflower) as an appetizer that was 10 out of 10. Delicious! And vegan. Then for entrees we ordered vegetable vindaloo, and a new item to us - Mysore Masala Dosa. We had no idea what to expect, but this new entree blew our socks off. It was a gigantic crepe. Basically, that was stuffed with the most flavorful potato goodness. The crepe itself also had great flavor. And then it was served with a curry sauce and a refreshing almost tangy green coconut milk sauce. So flavorful and large ! We got a side of Naan (large portion for $4) as we found that much more fun and satisfying than a side of rice. Would highly recommend everything we ordered

This is one of the best restaurants in the Southampton area. The chicken biryani is particularly good, and the vindaloo has a wonderfully bold flavor.
The food is not nearly as spicy as Indian restaurants in many parts of the United States, but everything tastes very fresh, so there is something here for everyone to enjoy. If you order shrimp, you'll get several large, juicy, tender shrimp; it's probably their best protein.
The service is exceptional. You will get your food quickly and be attended to frequently by friendly staff.
The decor is tasteful, clean, and warm.
Saaz doesn't have the best Indian food I've ever had (I wish the chicken and beef were slightly more tender and juicy), but I'm giving them five stars because the quality and quantity of food you get for what you spend cannot be matched by any dinner restaurant within miles. I'm currently visiting Sag Harbor with my wife for a few months, and we are generally disappointed with how much money we have to spend for a decent meal. This is one of the only restaurants that doesn't make us feel like we are wasting an obscene amount of money every time we go out to dinner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 51335246Oct 24, 2022
Amazing service to complement the amazing food! Have been craving an Indian lunch buffet since COVID- unfortunately, NYC still does not allow them.
Saaz offers $20 AYCE buffet that settled that craving. Buffet is offered every day, with ample veg + non veg options. Naan is hot and buttery. Our faves were the tandoori chicken & channa masala.
Service was extra friendly and hospitable. Definitely don't hesitate to visit!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John P.Southampton, NY1515Jan 28, 2024
They do it all right here. The menu is fairly extensive and offers not just Indian food but also Pakistani favorites as well as Indo-Asian fare. The atmosphere is very comfortable, everything is spotless and the food...excellent. Some of the best Naan I've ever had. My dish was Lamb Korma and it was a perfect blend of flavor with lamb you can cut with your fork. The plain rice, fluffy and very "clean" doesn't stick together... everything very fresh and the staff super attentive. Thank you for having me!
