About the Business
We're more than just a sports grill and bar--we're a family and fan friendly restaurant with great food and drink, and a casual atmosphere. Founded by Don Led Duke, owner of BBL Companies, Recovery Sports Grill is more than just a sports grill and bar--it's a family and fan friendly restaurant with great food and drink, and a casual atmosphere tied together by both local and professional sports. Recovery Sports Grill, managed by BBL Hospitality, started as the Recovery Room Sports Grill in 2007, a single location across from Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, New York. The name came from the restaurants proximity to the hospital, with the idea being that Recovery Room would serve as a getaway for those who were at the hospital during trying times, as well as the local sports buffs.

We had our work Christmas party at Recovery this year! Lots of fun!!! Really good food and great, friendly service

Recovery has always been a fun sports bar to watch many games, on many TVs! It's classic bar fare with burgers, wings and salads and fun appetizers and a good beer selection!

Recovery Sports Grill was a recovery for me indeed after I spent my morning and afternoon working up a sweat in the local gymnasium. The atmosphere, fan friendly as they call it, certainly was as all 117 surrounding televisions had sports channels on for my own viewing pleasure. My party of 12 was quite pleased, and the chicken tenders were bonkers. Absolutely off the charts as I felt like a chicken run with my brainless noggin chopped off after every bite.
My only source of disappointment was that every side is extra money, so I originally thought I was getting a stupendous deal getting fries when in reality, I was starving my card of credit while clogging my arteries. They won't get me next time, though. I know better.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jenny S.Tacoma, WA1115Apr 1, 2024
Food was very basic. Cobb salad has giant lunch meat slices for meat. Avocado was brown and sort of gross. We waited for 25 min for one cocktail. It was supposed to be a vodka soda with a splash of cranberry. I got a vodka water with some cranberry. Did not send back because the waiter told us the bartender was "in a mood." Two of three in our party asked for pop refill and only one came. A giant tray of dirty dishes was sitting on the table next to us the entire time we were there, more than an hour. There were literally 10 people in the whole place for lunch. No reason for such slow service. Waited over 30 min for two salads and some wings. There were 6-7 employees working. Ambience was ok. I love sports but there has to be more women athletes who could be included in the decor, aside from a tiny section.

Our second visit was on a college football Saturday while WVU was playing, and prior to a concert down the street. The atmosphere was great! We knew the food was great (we've eaten here once before) and they didn't disappoint. The Buffalo wontons are our go-to appetizer. One person in our group ordered the chicken tenders and they were the best tenders ever! The bourbon dipping sauce is AMAZING.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 23, 2021Previous reviewThe sports bar is located on the back side of the Sheraton in downtown Charleston. It's a huge sports bar with TONS of sports memorabilia covering every sport you can imagine. They have an extensive menu (the Buffalo wontons are a must-have) and a full bar with typical domestics and locally brewed beers. We stopped in on a Saturday night during NBA and NHL playoffs and couldn't believe how empty it was! Any sports fan should LOVE this place! There are TVs everywhere and there's not a bad seat in the house. COVID restrictions are starting to lift so you should definitely stop in and check it out!

Overpriced and the food is just okay. The staff when we were there was unfriendly, especially the hostess. There are better choices in downtown Charleston.

Nachos to go were dry. We counted 2 jalapeños, the lettuce were in giant leaves. Barely any pico de gallo. In fact pico de gallo was just a few pieces of diced tomatoes. Last time I checked pico has more than that. Denied drinks due to ID, we are from out of state. Asked to get IDs scanned and they stated they have no scanners. We have been to 3 other popular establishments and had no problem getting drinks with ID provided. Will never be coming back here you shouldn't either. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Would be better off going to Mcdonalds.

Horrible service would not take my valid temporary paper ID. They claimed to not be able to scan my ID or accept it but i question that because they have a "liquor license". On top of that we got nachos which were horrendous. Blandest driest chicken i've ever had. 2 jalapeños total. A sprinkle of "pico de gallo". Disgusting i'm disgusted don't go to this place.

Great food, service, and got a nice show too Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. Come Wednesdays for dinner and see a good band.

So disappointed in the service we got there. We had a big party and they chose to only let one, incompetent server, handle the entire party. She was the rudest, mouthiest waitress I have ever seen. She knew she was getting a 20% gratituty since it was automatically added and she was horrible from the get go. She took forever to get us our drinks, take our order and never refilled our drinks, then got upset that we wanted our bill after almost three hours of being there. Save your sanity and money and bypass this place!

Recovery was very accommodating to our party of 14 on a Sunday afternoon. Our bill was split between the 4 families- without a problem.
The chicken wings were the best I have had in a long time. I wish that I had ordered more.
The service was top-notched. The drinks kept coming and the food was timely.
Looking forward to a return visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 8, 2022Previous reviewRecovery was very accommodating to our party of 14 on a Sunday afternoon. Our bill was split between the 4 families- without a problem.
