Came here last minute as I thought this was in Roseville but it ended up being in Rocklin which wasn't too far of a commute.
I was happy to find that the food was flavorful and pho broth tasted as expected. It's hard to find good pho in the area as we found out the day before at another spot.
Pho dac biet had all the topping was expected, they only serve one size but portion was good for the price. They don't have fresh/fat noodles but that's ok.
Wife got the wonton soup and the it was delicious, broth was on point as expected.i would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for Bay Area flavors up north.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 27, 2024Updated review
This is probably the worst restaurant food I ever experienced where I couldn't eat the food after tasting it.
I was hesitant to try it after I saw the health report's 6 violations but thought after so many years haven't come to this place I would give it a try.
Order the chicken noodle soup and initially told the server the thin flat rice noodles but then he kept saying it was chow fun noodle big one if it was OK. I thought ok fine probably they don't have the thin one. Omg the worst noodle ever, the texture is like the noodles that have been recooked and frozen for reuse. It doesn't taste like chow fun, so horrible. I ate chow fun noodles almost every week so the taste and texture are something I'm very familiar with. I can't even take another bite. It was so bad. The worst part is they charged $1 extra without telling me that the thick noodles were more expensive even though they never warned me and that's not even my original order.
Then I got the fresh roll with the super bad sauce that's bland. No taste just like a brown sauce with no taste and the fresh spring roll is bad, the noodle clumps up.
The regular pho probably is not bad but the two orders I got are the worst ones ever.
The service is good, the server is pretty friendly.
Don't think I will be back after this food experience with bad quality.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 24, 2018Previous reviewThe Pork fresh spring rolls are amazing. I love the crunchy egg roll in the center.
The pho was okay. The chicken just does not go well with pho. It tastes too old when thin pieces are cooked too long in the soup.
The grilled pork rice plate was ok. They were a bit too oily for my taste. Once again, the egg rolls were good.
Overall, the service was prompt and exemplary. The only thing is that I wish they filed my water.
I went back two weeks after to order for pork wonton soup and pork spring rolls.
- I ordered the rice noodles and got eggs noodles instead. I told the waiter about it and he changed it.
- The pork spring rolls that we ordered had a hair on it, I have to let them know again, not an enjoyable dinner when things like this happened but the attitude of the service was great. They handle it professionally!
I'll probably be back. - Feb 25, 2024
They have pretty good pho here for sure and the Cafe "Suada"-yummy and sizable!
I took one pic of the large beef and brisket pho combo with traditional sprouts and mint leaves with sriracha. It's good, hardy and yummy
Too bad you can never order it anywhere without the MSG! I shall go backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 16, 2024
3.5 stars for solid pho! Rounding down, because the soups were too fish sauce, heavy, and it was very off the beaten track (coming back from Tahoe)
- beef rib pho. Loved the generous portion of bean sprouts, the meat was pretty tender, but not fall off the bone. The noodles were the perfect texture.
- The spring rolls were fresh. I would definitely order it again.
- The vermicelli bowl was good, standard.
- The chicken pho was my least favorite, did not like the flavor of the soup.
Appreciated the 10% cash discount, but will probably try other places next timeHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 22, 2023
Gonna be spending some time down in the Rocklin/Roseville area for the holiday weekend, so I stopped in here for a little lunch after the drive down the 5 from Red Bluff. I read that this place, Pho Cali, offers the Vietnamese Crepe Bahn Xeo. I love that dish, so unusual from the run of the mill bowl of pho or other noodle dish.
This is a hard to find dish, so I always wanna give it a try when I come across it. The service is quick and efficient here, no messin around making convo or anything.
The crepe arrives and it's a decent size all right. It's thin and crispy and filled with shrimp, pork and bean sprouts and served with a big side of greens. There's a nice orange colored sweetish dipping sauce. I just poured it all over the crepe. The flavor was bright and fresh. I liked this version and would come back here again for this. More rare is the Thai version of this crepe.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - 5485422365Nov 18, 2023Updated review
Our favorite pho place.
Other than the usual pho noodle soup, my current favorite is #17 but with noodles instead of rice. We also love the #6. Their egg rolls are also amazing.
Their prices are a little higher than we're used to, but not sure if it's because of post-Covid times or because it's Rocklin. Pay cash to get a nice discount.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0Mar 2, 2017Previous reviewThis restaurant has changed ownership and its name. It used to be something like Little Muy Tho but now it's Pho Cali. It's MUCH MUCH better than before. We've been here twice since the ownership change and have had pleasant experiences. Friendly staff, good portion sizes, good prices, convenient location with plenty of parking.
Dec 24, 2015Previous reviewThis place just opened up near us recently. We figured it'd be fun to try it out, since it's close to home.
The place was pretty empty when we visited. My husband ordered their beef stew noodles and I got their traditional pho bowl (typically a restaurant's #1).
When the noodles came, we were confused because they didn't come with the usual plate of bean sprouts, lime, cilantro. The way the restaurant is structured (long and narrow), it was hard to see the servers from where we were sitting, so I got up and talked to the guy at the cashier instead.
They quickly brought out the plate of bean sprouts and apologized that they had forgotten. The pho bowl was just ok. Nothing spectacular. My husband's beef stew noodles were all clumped together (see photo). There were only a few meager pieces of beef also. Definitely not someplace you'd go for a big meal.
The employees at the counter were very friendly and helpful but for the price, there are better vietnamese restaurants out there. Maybe this place will get better after they get into the swing of things.
After reading Yelp reviews, we checked out KT Noodles and can see why people like that restaurant better. Even though their restaurant is older and more run down than this place, you get better food, bigger portions for less money. We'll head there instead in the future when we have a pho craving. - 1386554383Nov 3, 2023
Feeling under the weather and needed some soup in my life. Since moving to Rancho Cordova there hasn't been a good pho place near me and I am very picky with my pho broth. My boyfriend chiropractor is Vietnamese and recommended this place since she lives in Rocklin and usually eats pho in South Sacramento like me! That's when I knew I could trust the recommendation. They also close late, at 9pm. We arrived around 7:50pm and there was only one other table, but by 8:45 when we were leaving there was another four tables sitting with us.
We ordered the eggrolls and two orders of the special beef pho. There is only one size. They come in nice metal bowls. The soup was piping hot!!!! Just the way I like it. There was so much meat in there. The meat quality was so amazing we were both so shocked!!! From Elk Grove to south Sacramento the meat in the beef pho is either usually really tough or doesn't taste fresh, but here the soup is piping hot and the meat is still tender and not overcooked by the end of my meal!! I love that the condiment plates of vegetable's come with chili oil crunch. And of course the broth is amazing because that is also a very important part. It is not just about the abundance of food they put into the bowl. It is about the taste of the broth.
Our new go to even if it's a 40 min drive. Highly recommend based off of what we had so far.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 31, 2023
Unfortunately today's visit was very disappointing. Noodles for both pho were falling apart into small pieces (2 inches or less) or clumped together forming hard chunks.
The rib and tendon were not cooked long enough for it to easily fall apart and soften.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 21, 2023
My friend and I recently came here for lunch. We both had Pho (my friend had House Special, and I had Sliced Steak, Brisket, Flank, Tendon). I asked for the sliced steak to be fully cooked, rather than rare.
Flavors were very good (I'm not sure if it was from a rich broth flavor, or from condiment-enhanced flavoring), and the amount of meat was just right for my tastes. We both enjoyed our meal. Service was fine (efficient, and always available if I needed something).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1
