It's like a Panda Express, but a few steps above. Just perfect fast food Chinese, no frills, no wild flavors, just everything you love. Decor? Nonexistent. Ambiance? None. Should you bring a date here? Probably not. Should you bring 4 of your closest friends here and share bowls of chicken lo mein and beef and broccoli? Yes. Absolutely yes. It's casual, it's comforting, it's perfect. I got the chicken lo mein and it helped a hole in my soul. it was absolutely delicious. I went to Joy Luck earlier this year, and I'd say the food at Mulan is heads above.
Not really sure about the framed photo of Disney's Mulan, but it was also kinda a vibe?Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 26, 2023Previous reviewYou know when a place just hits the spot? I'm eating my leftovers from here as I write this review.
This is just fast food Chinese at its finest. It's not fancy, it's not fine dining, but it's super satisfying and delicious. They have really generous portion sizes, it would be hard to not have an extra serving. I got their chicken lo mein and it just hit the spot. Cheap noodles, tons of salt, chicken. There aren't a ton of veggies, and the primary flavor is soy sauce, but that's also kinda what I was expecting.
All the staff here were very polite, and got our food out fast. It was a great place to go sit and eat and chat after a movie with friends. It's not really a cute or aesthetic location, but it was good! I'd say it's in the same category as Panda Express and Jog Luck, but the food was miles better.
Really, a great place to grab a quick bite with friendsOct 25, 2022Previous reviewY'all, it just hit the spot.
Got chicken lo mein noodles and sweet and sour chicken, cream cheese Rangoon and pork egg rolls. All was eaten.
It's not the fanciest joint, it's not mind blowing food. But it's perfect. If you're craving Chinese food, would encourage going a few steps above fast food Chinese, and trying this place. Was still super quick, but heads above in quality. Everything was delicious. Absolutely loved that the seeet and sour chicken doesn't come already sauced. You get to choose how much sauce you want on each piece and don't have to worry about it getting soggy. Was super pleased with all the food. It hit the spot. - 23124106Nov 4, 2023
I have never been here in person because I always come by when it's crowded due to conventions nearby, but I've gotten the food through delivery and it's soooo good. Also I love the name. :)
My favorite appetizer is the fried scallops. Get some sweet and sour sauce and dip those babies right in, and you'll be in heaven.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cindy G.Midvale, UT302610Oct 14, 2023Updated review
Always good food. And the owners are so welcoming and nice.
The place is clean. Nice place to meet with friends or order to go. Always fresh made as you wait.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Dec 12, 2016Previous reviewAnother favorite place, I love the curry chicken and happy family. It is a hole in the wall, but my experience says that isn't an issue. The owners and nice and friendly and the wife always remembers my favorite dishes. She will make suggestions which I am willing to try.
It's clean and neat inside. Fresh food, hot and plentiful.
I can't say enough of this place. - Oct 17, 2022
We were greeted super fast and the staff explained some of our options for food. She was super friendly and asked about our day. Portion sizes were huge. I could eat leftovers for days.
Cashew chicken was delicious. Fried rice tasted good, but just fried rice. Wontons had great flavor but were small and compact. Maybe rolled tight and balled up. Not light and fluffy like some places.
This satisfied our Chinese crave on a Sunday. Other places were closed. They had lots of signs saying closed on Tuesdays. Kind of odd, but they made that clear. Very discouraging was the lack of a public bathroom. I'm not sure how they get away with that. They had a sign stating out of order, but they had signs on the door saying No Public Bathroom. The bathroom clearly worked, but they had it closed intentionally. This may be because of the high school being next door, but still not a good excuse. Be aware that parking is tricky due to being in a strip mall with 5 other businesses and competing with patrons for the 7/11. Cars were pulling in and out quickly to stop and grab stuff from 7/11. Use caution in the lot when walking.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Stephen J.Lehi, UT052Feb 12, 2024
Service was fast and food was nice and hot. One of the best Chinese restaurants I've found in Salt Lake Valley. Don't let the location and appearance fool you. Small individual owned restaurant. Well worth trying.

Super disappointed in our experience with Mulan. We ordered the sesame chicken and there wasn't a single edible piece of chicken to be found. One bite into this chicken would send you to the dentist for a new crown. Not even sure how they find this acceptable to send out to someone. We will definitely be going to a different place for Chinese food from now on.

We ordered dinner from here and it was not very good at all. Here is the rundown....
1. I ordered Szechuan chicken that was listed as a spicy dish and the flavors were way off. It was not spicy at all and to be honest had a very funny tastes it was almost uneatable. I literally took 3 bites and put the cover on it and tossed it. The fried rice that it came with was pretty bad too.
2. The boyfriends general Tao's chicken was equally flavorless and not spicy. He also tossed it after a few bites.
3. The egg rolls were the weirdest, soggy, fishy tasting egg rolls we both have ever eaten.
4. The crab rangoons were flavorless and there was more over fried won ton wrappers that tasted like burnt oil.
5. The rice was dense and flavorless.
I waned really good Chinese and what we received for over 30.00 was really awful. Like I said we tossed the bulk of it, we won't be back.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Linda W.UT, UT0298Jan 25, 2024
Delicious! Fast, huge portions and seriously tasty! We both had stuff to do after work deciding to grab dinner, searching for something around where my errands took me and I am so glad! Best Chinese food we've had in a long time. We will be back.
