I went for brunch and got the French onion soup, French toast, and my friend got the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.
The coffee was freaking delicious. Bottomless pours!
The volume was too loud of the closeby tables. I understand they want to accommodate bigger parties but maybe putting them in separate area of restaurant would be better. It was hard to hear my friends conversation.
They are closing May 1st to remodel so hopefully more space for a section of small parties.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4697662534Mar 5, 2024Updated review
If you want a little taste of France, there are three locations for Mon Ami Gabi. Thankfully, since 2002, we have had our own little French spot right in Bethesda, MD.
Executive Chef Andrew Fleischauer from the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris has been at Mon Ami Gabi for quite some time and has served nothing short of amazing.
MUST TRY MENU ITEMS
*Recommend trying these during the Lunch Prix Fixe which is served Monday through Friday between 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.*
=) Steak Frites (Back when I ate meat, I would straight up devour this dish)
=) Caesar Salad
=) Profiterole
For brunch, I recommend trying the Eggs Benedict and/or the Bananas Foster. Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays between 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Dec 22, 2014Previous reviewThis place is astounding! The food is first-rate, tasteful, delicious, delectable, lip-smacking, and scrumptious. I have been here multiple times during Bethesda's Restaurant Week and would absolutely go back. Each time I ordered their steak frites and it was mouthwatering! My Agency took me here for my birthday last year and it was one of the greatest experiences ever. Mon Ami Gabi is definitely one of the best restaurants in the Bethesda area.

It's alright. I was expecting richer flavors, especially for the confit. The service started slow but it got better after we ordered. I really don't understand why they charge for the baguette, but it was worth it!
There was no music when we were there, music would have been nice.
The wine selection is good and the meat cuts as well.
I just don't think I was left wanting to explore more items on their menu.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 31, 2024
Enjoyed a fantastic brunch here! The breakfast crepe was delicious with a thin and fluffy crepe filled with ham, egg, and cheese. The steak frittes was also delicious--the steak was thin and perfectly cooked and the fries were crispy and tasty. Also a lovely dessert, both the mousse and the crème brûlée were wonderful!

Mon Ami Gabi never disappoints for brunch! My husband and I had been to the one in Las Vegas twice and loved it both times so he booked a birthday brunch reservation at the one in Bethesda for us and my parents. We got there right when they opened but it was packed by the time we left so we definitely recommend having a reservation if you can! The service was great and the food came out quickly. Our server even brought out a birthday treat at the end of brunch with a candle which was really nice!
Brioche French Toast (10/10) - I will get this every time I come for brunch... it's amazing! The bread is so soft on the inside but still has a nice crisp on the outside. It's very sweet between the blueberries, blueberry sauce, and chantilly cream that you don't even need to add syrup!
Sweet Chicken Sausage (8/10) - I added this as a side... I really enjoyed the sweet flavor but it wasn't anything super special.
The only thing keeping Mon Ami Gabi from 5 stars is the price point... I do feel that it's overpriced for what you get. As a result, I'll only go for special occasions when I'm traveling and near one of the locations.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Oct 17, 2023Updated review
I used to love this place, a staple in Bethesda and we used to come here for years. Unfortunately, this place might be going downhill.
Me and 3 others came here the other night for dinner. My friend and I both ordered a Filet Mignon, hers was the Au Poivre and mine was the regular on the menu. They both came out well done, I asked for medium rare. It took an extremely long time for the replacements to come out, and my steak this time was full on rare- completely uncooked and red/soft on the inside. I hate to inconvenience the staff when it's busy, but I really couldn't eat it so I had to ask again for them to cook it longer this time. When it finally came out, it had a nice crust but it tasted a little burnt :/ and they forgot my sauce so I had to wait for it. When they brought it, the "melted" butter was fully solid so it wasn't as good.
Although they took off the dish from our bill, I couldn't enjoy my meal at all. We ended up staying almost over 2 hours and I had to wait over an hour to eat, but by then I already completely lost my appetite. The chef didn't, not even the manager, come to apologize. It's truly disappointing that a French restaurant doesn't know how to cook a steak, let alone a Filet Mignon. It really showed that they do not care at all about their cuisine and they are not proud of their food lol. That night showed complete unprofessional work, so I probably won't be coming here again or for a very long time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 4, 2018Previous reviewGood atmosphere, calming and dark.
Came here with my boyfriend for a birthday dinner! The server was very friendly and great.
We ordered the escargot and smoked salmon for the appetizers. My boyfriend really likes the escargot and especially loves dipping the leftover sauce with the complimentary bread. The bread is really chewy and nice! The smoked salmon was good, you make your own toast from the ingredients provided on the plate. Tbh I dont really like fish or sushi so it was okay for me. I guess salmon kind of tastes like ham.
Entrees we got borderlaise steak frites, medium rare... they were tasty but the appetizers and bread filled me up! Definitely remembering that for the future. Their fries were really thin and nice too. - 17715484Jan 13, 2024
Very good, a reliable place to eat where you can count on a decent bite. I had a wonderful evening with friends and our server was attentive and kind. He also gave us enough space to socialize in between ordering drinks, food, and dessert. The vibes in this place are a comfortable French bistro!
For my entree I had the classique steak frites and it was cooked to my liking. The butter they put on the steak is scrumptious of course! The fries were a mix, some crispy and some soft, which I enjoyed the change in texture. My husband had the roast salmon that came with a cauliflower purée. The portion was a bit smaller than my steak frites. He did say that the salmon was good! Along with the creme brûlée for dessert, that was good as well! Overall a solid dinner and I would return again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2023
Laid back lunch on a Friday .
Enjoyed the attentive service and delicious food.
Got the duck leg confit as my main. Skin had a nice light crisp and meat was tender. Accompanying fruit and bean was a perfect match.
Baguette was warm with a good crust.
Burger was good.
Had g&t and an IPA. Too hot for dessert and coffee, maybe next timeHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 20241 check-in
Excellent French restaurant in the heart of Bethesda. We were here with a group of 20 and they have a nice quiet room in the back. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. We especially liked the salmon, the steak, as well as the mussel appetizer. They also have great French onion soup. We will be back!

From snails to buttery steak. Yum! Portions are perfect and no room for dessert but that's ok. We enjoyed our meal. Table for two next to the window was nice. Service was excellent! Definitely worth trying the ginger beer mocktail. Been here before, for Christmas Eve and it did not disappoint. Merry Christmas!
