Lobby was closed so we were forced to used drive-thru or curbside. They left some items out of our order, but we were already on the road back home. It was not a complicated order.

Not only is the service horrible but I've been a witness myself to upper management disrespectfully talking to lower management and employees and because I stuck up for the employees even the management that was being picked on banned me from the store and that's not the only problem with the store the food is horrible and be careful if you go in and you complain about the food they sit there and they'll make fun of you on your way out the door and they're more concerned with money than they are with customer satisfaction and even the owner of the McDonald's is so horrendously rude and disrespectful that there's no way in the world that this lady should ever be running of business because she doesn't care that they get more complaints a day than they put out food and if you complain about it they're resolved is not to make it right it's to ban you from the store there should be a boycott put on the McDonald's on fleur in Des Moines

Went into the restaurant around 7pm on January 3, 2020. The line was going out the door and the kiosk had an error on it. No big deal. As I was waiting in line, I could hear the sputter of the soda fountain and guessed that one of the choices was out of order - more on that later.
It took about 25 minutes to get to the counter to place my order. I ordered a double quarter pounder with cheese, and a "pick 2" of a Big Mac and quarter pounder." I was then asked if I wanted to large/super size my drink and I said sure. I was given both my correct and a wrong receipt, and my large cup.
I then go to the drink selection and instead of just one soda out, every single choice was out. A guy at the fountain area told me "the only thing working are the teas." Well, the tea had been brewed at like 2pm but ok, at least there was something in it.
I then witnessed the worst train wreck I have ever seen.
It took another 20 minutes to get my order, and in that time I stood there watching one of the workers pull down the Oreo dispenser for a mcCafe/flurry/whatever and nothing would come out. She pulled it down about 30 times (no lie) before realizing it, but after getting teeny tiny crumbs out, she put on the lid and gave it to someone in the drive through. All during this time everybody waiting was getting extremely impatient.
The guy behind me finally asked to speak to the manager and she came out and he dresed her up and down, explaining he only ordered a McCafe/shake and by the time they gave it to him, it had melted and settled so it was only half as full as what it was. Instead of offering to make a new one, she said she was short staffed. He pointed out that all of the drinks were out, and the tea situation, and she had no excuse. I for one saw 6 people at once looking at the board trying to figure out orders.
Finally my number was called and I just wanted to get out of there, as there was now a line asking to talk to the manager. I grabbed my stuff and did a quick check to make sure at least all of the items were in there, which they were.
When I arrived at my destination, we checked out order.
On my double quarter pounder with cheese (pictured below) There were a "few" onions, looks like ketchup and mustard were out, NO PICKLES, and someone else's lettuce. I have never seen such a careless burger in my life. And of course the fries were cold as ice.
For my friend, their order also did not have any pickles - so they must have run out of those too.
I don't expect much, but I have never seen a McDonalds so mis-managed and run poorly in my life. I mean, look at that poor double quarter pounder below.
I filled out the survey on my receipt and even tweeted McDonalds corporate with no reply.
If this location reads these comments, you should find out who was working both as manager and cooks that night and do some house cleaning. This was unacceptable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chad T.Des Moines, IA256153Jul 22, 2018
I don't know why you're even reading this. It's a McDonald's. This one is ok, I guess. It's one of the newer dining room layouts, so the seats are nicer, but there are fewer of them and there are a couple of those long tables that makes people eat kind of family style, only without sharing food. It still kind of sucks.
This McDonald's also has one of those ordering kiosks that they're trying to implement. Most people think that those are to cut labor costs, but I'm about to mushroom stamp you with the truth: it's because there was a study done that shows that people tend to order as much as 20% more when they order from a machine.
Aside from all that, it's just a McDonald's. I don't know what to tell you. I asked the lady behind the counter what she liked most about working here and she looked at me like I'd farted on her grandmother. Because this isn't a job you "like", it's a job you do. Just like McDonald's food isn't stuff you actively enjoy (except the McRib, HOLLA!), so much as just kind of...eat.
This is a place to eat.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dakota H.San Francisco, CA01Oct 18, 2021

First of all (in drive thru), there was a long line and I waited for about 10 min. Then when i finally got to the screen to take my order, the lady told me told me to hold on. So i held for about 5 min and then asked if anyone was going to take my order. And then she comes on the speaker and tells me they are only taking cash. So she put me on hold just to tell me they are only taking cash. What!!

Our plane had arrived late into DSM and way past the time for a civilized lunch at maybe Centro or El Bait Shop. So after a long wait at baggage claim, my parents suggested ice cream before heading home to Ames.
I was thinking some cool little neighbourhood place. Gayle had Dairy Queen on her mind. Mom and Dad? McDonalds! And never mind that there was a Baskin Robbins a few steps away within the same shopping area. Maybe it's generational, maybe it's cheap, but out of Family love we all enjoyed our ice cream cones and sundaes.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
