Both locations in Long Beach have outdoor seating. Im not sure how many can be seated but location on Atlantic is better for groups of 10+

One star is because the chicken (extra 4$) enchiladas weren't terrible BUT I am a leftover person and didn't even want to take the other half to go.
The second star is for the guacamole which was good but was supposed to be to come with chips, assuming because they give a complementary basket of chips with salsa (which taste unpleasantly smokey) they only brought the guac and never refilled the chips during our visit....
Drinks are juice with not even a taste of liquor and sadly the bacon wrapped jalapeño is stuffed with a cold cheese creamy mixture and the bacon is rubbery...i almost never send back a item but after one bite we knew that was not edible....
Lacks flavor when you are accustomed to authentic Mexican food...Won't be back. Server was very nice though!(extra star for him lol)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Tyler P.Belmont Heights, Long Beach, CA093Feb 24, 2024
Best food/dinning we have had in Long Beach!!! Not exaggerating. Service was super quick, we got our drinks within a couple minutes and food was quick. Their moles and salsas were fantastic!
Our server, Jose, took great care of us. Super friendly, really knowledgeable about the menu and gave great service.
My girlfriend had the carnitas mole burrito and said, "when I die and go to heaven, Lola's will be there." Thankfully we live close by and will be coming back a lot! 10/10 cannot recommend higher.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Bee E.Long Beach, CA8583May 2, 2024
the food was not authentic. it was definitely not a place I will ever go to again. and for a place who claims authentic...why was my plate served with Guerrero tortillas? you expect me to believe or buy into your authentic " cuisine" but give your guests store bought tortillas? NEEEEEEXT
also the service wasn't great the whole experience was underwhelming. what a waste of money.
also, not sure what happened but my husband and I both got the runs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. We are actually launching handmade tortillas starting this weekend. We put the project on hold due to the pandemic since we lost a lot of our staff. We have rebuilt our kitchen team and would be happy to invite you back to try them out. We are celebrating our 16 year anniversary tomorrow! Thank you again for your patience and feedback. Please reach out if you are interested in coming back. - South B.CA, CA0188532Apr 25, 2024
Came here in the morning and we're literally the first to dine in during the weekend. We support local businesses and found them off Yelp and thought we'd give them a try.
Not sure what went wrong. They messed up order not once, but TWICE. They couldn't figure it out. The first time was completely admitted fault by our server. The second time was a complete mess and was blamed on the kitchen.
The first order they brought was not only a completely different order but certainly convinced it had meat products. The second time around the server came to fix it, they brought out yet again a wrong order which was totally missing everything/ingredients from the menu.
We were REALLY nice about it and just accepted whatever came in. My partner just took the second order because by then he was starving having them fix it, and we actually didn't want to give them a hard time. The burrito they brought was not good at all. It was plain, bland, and didn't have any protein whatsoever. Complete letdown.
The server did acknowledge some fault, but first time experience wasn't so great. They didn't charge us for their mistake however it wasn't the case until we brought it up.
Anyway, the food was overall okay. Overpriced cocktails and loud music. It was nice and refreshing to sit outside with the plants and decor, but the first time experience wasn't pleasant.
Not sure if we would be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 23, 2024
A group of friends had a disappointing experience a couple of weeks ago when we stopped by for a late dinner. It was a cold evening, so we asked to be seated inside where there were two open tables: one off to the side, which we asked for, and another one directly in front of the door. The waitress refused to seat us at the table out of the way of the draft, so we reluctantly took the other one and they promised to keep the door closed.
We placed our drink and food order and then... waited. And waited... while the servers continued to prop open the door for long periods of time and we continually had to ask for it to be closed again. Eventually the bartender (who was fantastic) came to check on us, and rushed our drink order which had never been put in.
The food, when it arrived, was ok but I was disappointed by the sweet potato enchiladas, which did not have any sweet potato flavor and the meat that was served with it was overcooked.
Oh, and that table we couldn't have? Sat empty the entire time we were there until closing.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Audrey C.Westminster, CA30143130May 17, 2024
Awesome service! I loved the chicken tortilla soup. Food is pricey but worth it. Bathrooms are clean.

Yum!
Came here with coworkers during lunch. They accommodated the 8 of us pretty quickly outside.
Brunch only on weekends. They have a few signature items they're known for like birria and mole.
I got the chile relleno. It was good and the rice and beans were flavorful and on point. Also got a horchata which was pretty standard.
My colleague got taquitos and I convinced them to get 1 potato taquito out of the 3. They said it was so good and better than the meat ones!
Can't wait to come again!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 17, 2023
Went here for lunch this week on my birthday. I've had it on my "try" list for a while. We enjoyed it a lot! The green avocado sauce was BOMB! So dang delicious. We got a queso dip with carnitas that was phenomenal (forgot to take a picture) and shared the 2 tamale plate. The tamales were great, we liked the garlicky beans but the rice was just ok to us. We each got 1 cocktail that we enjoyed.
Parking isn't great and the restaurant is a bit small. When we eat here again we'll go to the Bixby Knolls location.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 225419Mar 16, 2024
Let's begin with today's cold and sunny day. My bestfriend, son and I came around 12 and the place was packed. Alex (The Great) offered to death us outside ans lite the lamp to keep us warm. Amazed!!!! Thw adults shared a Spicy Watermaleon Marguerita and my son had a fresh squeezed lemonade and we were all satisfied with our choices. Now to the food....The Birria Enchiliadas, beans and rice along with the shrimp tacos were very delicious. Thank you Alex for your professionalism and courtesy we felt pampered.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Still consistently good after all these years.
Good Lord, has it really been over 13 years since my last review? Way overdue for an update! I see that I have 51 checkins here--I think that ought to tell you something. Lola's is now a classic fixture on 4th St and one of our go-to Mexican places for their great food, service, and convenience. Over the years we've been here for brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner, and it never disappoints.
It's a little more bougie than your more traditional comfort Mexican places like Los Compadres or El Sauz, but it also means we can get vegan options here. It was pretty revolutionary when they started offering vegan "chicken" enchiladas about 5 years ago, and now they've expanded into vegan "beef" and "Al pastor". On our most recent visit the hubby and I shared their vegan street tacos plate with both those items and they were delicious! The accompanying refried beans were creamy and satisfying, but the rice was a bit underdone for my taste. At $17 for the two taco plate it's definitely not cheap eats, but we were happy with the quality and flavor.
I also tried their horchata cold brew for the first time and it was very good--really hit the spot. We also always look forward to the green "crack" sauce that comes with their complimentary chips and salsa. Service is always friendly and efficient, and I know I'll have a good experience when I come here. I'm sure I'll be back again before too long. #ThankYouThursdayHelpful 8Thanks 2Love this 9Oh no 0Nov 17, 2010Previous reviewSometimes you just gotta order the right thing. I've felt rather lukewarm about their food in the past, but that was before I ordered their carnitas platter. Generous portions of their tender carnitas (with the nice crusty edges) served with rice, guacamole, and a cup of their whole pinto beans. I got it with flour tortillas and made myself some deluxe carnitas tacos, yum. I was here with Michael P and he made a point of having them bring us extra salsa and hot sauce and we used them to flavor things to our liking (another thing I failed to do in the past). I used their mobile app again and got 50% off their flan--thumbs up on the flan, too, very homemade-tasting! I won't be leery of returning again :)
Nov 5, 2010Previous reviewI'm just so bummed the food here is so mediocre. Still cute, still cool, but the guacamole and the ceviches tostadas were just OK--where is the flavor? I think my friend complained of lack of flavor in her tortilla soup also. Their green and red sauces served with chips were still good, but my guacamole was pretty bland, as were my tostadas (they sure looked pretty, though--see my pic). Also, the ceviche was a little too tomatoe-y for my taste. I like it when there's more of a citrusy zing. But I gotta give them props for their new mobile app that gives you instant deals, from 50% off an appetizer to 3-course meal for two! Just log on to lolas.mobi from your smartphone and a special deal appears which you can save and show your server. The deals refresh every 5 seconds so you could keep refreshing til you get a deal that you like best. They're still working out the kinks but I thought it was very cool they're taking advantage of new technology like that. Maybe one of these days I'll get something that will really impress me--they have the potential.
Jul 28, 2009Previous reviewA friend suggested this place for lunch today and I eagerly assented--I'd seen it when we were at the Art Theater and it looked like a really cute place. Sure enough, the decor is very happy, cheerful (lots of happy fun skulls everywhere) and stylish. The items on the menu looked good, and it looked like slightly healthier or hipper variations on what we'd think of as traditional favorites. I went for the trio of sopes, with chicken, carne asada and carnitas. My friend just had their mini tacos appetizer. I liked the sauces that came with the chips, especially the creamy green stuff. The red stuff was a bit on the too-salty side, but it seemed to balance out the more mellow green stuff. The sopes were good, but not GREAT. They seemed a bit on the soggy side. Tasty enough, however, and the service was good so I give this place a solid three stars. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back and trying more stuff.
