    About the Business

CoolYo is primarily a self-serve frozen yogurt shop. We have 7 frozen treat dispensing machines which can also extrude ice cream and frozen custard. We feature up to 14 flavors plus a twist on relevant machines. We have a large variety of toppings (over 40) in our bar area including fresh fruit, Sanders Hot Fudge and many other hot, sweet, sour, chewy and crunchy toppings to satisfy even the most demanding set of taste buds. In addition to frozen yogurt, we blend smoothies (that you can create yourself... with superfood). And, we now carry fun and flavorful bubble teas and happy to offer Savory and Sweet Crepes along with coffee, hot chocolate, and lattes to round out something for most everyone. We have a Yo Cart that is a rolling freezer which we deliver with pre-made frozen yogurt in cups with a selection of toppings to your catered: office, grad, retirement, shower, gender reveal, sweet 16, birthday or even wedding (to name a few types) parties!

We were passing through in a trip and had finished dinner in the same plaza and decided to get some desert. We saw this place and looked at the flavors listed outside and went in. We noticed the flavors were not the options available inside and maybe, since this was our first time, that was just showing what they might have. When we walked in at 8 on a Saturday night the place was empty - completely empty. The person working didn't show up until we were nearly ready to check out. Luckily, although it was our first time in, we were familiar with the concept. When she arrived from the back she didn't say a word.
We finished there were 3 of us, and we put our containers on the scale - again unassisted or spoken to and her first words were $40.05. I almost passed out and asked "did you say $24?" She repeated $40.05 and I paid and got us out of there. I know this can be an expensive option - I have been to 2 other similar places - but
It was much more than I expected. This coupled with the no service and completely empty store told me we hadn't chosen well and will no be back. If you want to charge a premium for your goods and service, you need to provide a reason for people to come, stay, return and recommend. This is not the place. BTW, yogurt, didn't have much or any taste and some topping were good, others stale.

I went here with my mom recently and I can tell you that it is honestly one of my favorite places! The atmosphere is cute and the access to non-dairy options it amazing!! I will definitely be back.

Who doesn't love froyo?! I've been here a bunch of times. I'm not going to say exactly how many, in case my dentist ever stalks me and my Yelp reviews.

Anyway, back to Coolyo. They've got a large variety of flavors, and an even larger variety of toppings (almost...too many??). The thing I like about their flavors is that they change a couple of them every now and then to keep things fresh. So if you're like me and go there often, you won't be bored with the same stuff (although with the topping selection, the combinations are endless).

They've got a nice little space inside where you can hang out and play some games with your buddies. They do have a large selection of board games however you'll be hard-pressed to find one that is not broken as well as not missing pieces.

The dividers help you keep things separate and make you feel like you're getting two cups for one

I always order bubble tea from this place because it's the closest. The owner wasn't there but a young guy took my order. They definitely didn't train him well because the bubble tea I ordered was gross. No ice was added, green tea wasn't added, only the fruit syrup that wasn't even shaken well. My daughter and I became grossed out and threw out both teas, wasted over $10. I hope the owner is going to train their new hires well so nobody has this experience.

Bubble tea that I ordered. Gross!!

So my wife walked in here to get some yogurt and a crepe for me, the lady there said hi and my wife asked her if they were still doing crepes, she said no we close at 6:00, my wife said so your closed, she said yes, then realized my wife was ready to leave she said no just the crepes. Oh ok wife says let me check to see if my husband wants something else, lady says ok, while your doing that can you put on a mask, mind you 5 min has gone by with a full conversation with the lady, wife says I don't have a mask but if you have one I'll gladly wear one, lady says we don't, but there's some paper towel on the counter, grab some and cover your mouth. Wife looked at her and walked out. FML, WOW, this is not a joke, my eyes are still wide open even while writing this!

This used to be my favorite froyo place when I went to Oakland a few years ago. I came here all the time.
      Well, not anymore.
The froyo doesn't taste as good as it used to be and tastes somewhat.. stale? Sour? Cookies and cream definitely shouldn't be sour. I also worked at a froyo place and know it's probably old.
Also, they've gotten super stingy with their samples, don't bother asking. They'll quickly give you one drop then walk away and leave you waiting while your $6 tiny froyo cup melts waiting on the scale for someone to ring you up. I also feel like they're charging a lot more, better off going elsewhere and getting a better portion size per ounce.
I don't like this place anymore. Big sad.

Frozen yogurt, what an amazing thing! Nice little location right across the street from Oakland University. The parking lot is a little crazy since there are a lot of other places in the plaza. But don't be deterred!

They serve coffee and tea, but the best is the frozen yogurt. You get your cup and I always get a divider so I can enjoy more than one flavor.

There are at least 10 or more flavors to choose from and quadruple the amount of fixings to put on your frozen yogurt! I get overwhelmed of the choices!

Sure it costs a bit if you really pile on fixings, but it's a treat! Cool plastic spoons to eat your frozen yogurt and plenty of seating inside and out.

They also allow you to do fundraisers which is very nice and good for the community.

I would've given 5 stars but the price is a bit steep so I lowers it to 4. Still a great value for once in a while treat!

Cake batter and chocolate frozen yogurt with plenty of fixings!

Decided to stop in for a little treat after lunch. This was my first time here. The froyo was good however I wish they offered more flavors.

New policy is half cup or full cup. Very disappointing. You have no control over your portions and they pack both sizes to maximize their $ with no concern over your desired portion. With all the local options in Fro-yo, this one is off my list.

What a great place to go when your froyo craving starts acting up! There is a variety of flavors and toppings which are comparable to every other yogurt place. What I love about this location is that it is clean and inviting. The atmosphere screams, "Stay and hang out with your friends!" The only negative I have compared to another froyo place is that the by weight pricing can be a bit too expensive- especially for a family. This is why when I am near the place that charges by cup size I will always choose to go there.
