The food here is delicious.
The service is kinder than most and do their best to make you feel at home.
The ambiance makes you feel like you're in the old country m. You walk in the door and Europe is right there.
Back to the delicious food, we had a chicken Marsala, garlic bread, and lasagna.
The lasagna and garlic bread were smash hits. The Marsala differs from any that I've ever had and that was a good thing.
Their dessert was a pistachio Ricotta cake which was truly amazing.
For European taste, service, and feel this is the place.
Thanks Michael and Marion!
If you can't wait to go to Europe, go to Bruno's.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2024
Bruno's been around for many many years, which is a plus since most places are long gone in the area. It is still the same, something reassuring, because everything changes a tad too much.
I had a few work lunches here over the years. Your classic small Italian place with red and white checkered table cloths, simple menu, you know the drill. Usually I go for their pepperoni pizza, nothing spectacular, but decent and shareable. Drinks wise, just soda-s, so I usually go for the water, I wish they would have better options. But you can always find a table and service is good. Classic Italian spot in SM!Helpful 9Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0 - Gary Z.Santa Monica, CA372580May 18, 2024
Good food at a good price, the owners to cook and his wife is the waitress some of the time.

I recently visited Bruno's Italian Restaurant in Santa Monica and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. While the service was very good, the quality of the food left much to be desired.
We ordered a pizza and a few different pasta dishes. The pizza sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce straight out of a can, and the cheese was bland and lacked flavor. The fettuccine Alfredo was mostly butter, with not enough heavy cream or cheese, making it very unbalanced and greasy.
Considering the prices, the quality of the food was not worth it. We paid $113 for one pizza, three pasta dishes, and three waters. For this price, we expected much better quality.
Despite the good service, I can't recommend Bruno's based on the food quality and value for money.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 10, 2023
Sadly this food wasn't very good in my option.
The Caesar salad was more of an Italian salad with a lot of garlic. But not a true Caesar dressing at all. It was "ok" but not what I was expecting. The bread they brought out was very plain yet toasted - so not soft and lacking flavor. Not worth eating. So I stopped after a few bites.
We were going to order veal. But they didn't have it tonight. We didn't know til we went to order. So we got the chicken parmigiana. It wasn't very flavorful and sauce was pretty bland. I think the same sauce was on the spaghetti. So after a bite, I didn't eat it either.
Disappointing meal to me. My husband said the meatballs were "good" and he sorta liked the chicken. So I'll say 3 stars (average meal at an above average price). :(Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dec 26, 2023
The food here was absolutely amazing. This place really gives authentic Italian vibes and so do the employees. Do be aware that it normally takes some time to get your food so as long as you are ok with waiting I would definitely recommend coming here.

The food is absolutely incredible! The service is a tad slow but mostly because it's a mom and pop and they just have one cashier who is also a waiter. But she was incredibly nice to us! It's a cute small little restaurant, perfect for some Italian near the pier!

Bruno's is a quaint Italian spot near the Santa Monica Pier with a wide variety of pasta, pizza, and sandwiches. I was craving creamy pasta so I opted for the Carbonara and my boyfriend had the spaghetti with meat sauce. We also ordered a side of garlic bread. The portions for all the dishes were more than enough - we ended up taking some of my pasta and the bread home. Our server was fast and so, so friendly. She made jokes with us throughout our meal and was happy to bring us whatever we needed. This is definitely a hidden gem near the pier, I'd 100% come back!
