Q:
Are any reservations required for lunch?
A:
Definitely not on the weekends, I've gone several times for weekend lunch and it's usually almost empty. I can't speak for during the week though, they might be busier then.

It was okay. Expected more from the reviews. Pizza seems to have the right ingredients to be really good but just slightly above average. The wings were nothing special and maybe it's just because the oven fired version is not my jam - at least not for the Buffalo style which was just serviceable.
I want to add the caveat that we came kind of between service around 4:30 on a slow Sunday so I don't want to completely trash the staff. We got sat and then had to get up and ask the hostess/server for water and waiter. Not a big deal, but, you know, it matters...The bartender was very professional and took over our table while trying to do her primary job and was accommodating to our picky eater's request of no "green stuff" on her pizza. She did her best to make up for no one else really looking out for us. She also took off a pizza on our bill which was generous and unnecessary because it did have green stuff on it. She was great and the review would have been lower but for her.
The spinach and artichoke dip was not much to brag about (overly chunky, not great portion) though the bread was good. The pizzas again should have been awesome since coal fired pizzas are generally great - but the crust was a little lacking and didn't stand up to the coal-firing. Toppings were plentiful. Not terrible value.
Just everything was short on execution. Not bad, but I don't get where the 4* average comes from. Not sure we'll be coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Stopped in here to watch some football & catch a late lunch.
Can you say "Best kept secret in plain sight??"
I've driven past this place for AGES & am so mad I never stopped to actually eat here...
Pizza is really good.
Their in-house dry rubbed wings are TRULY special...
I'm unfortunately used to salads not being worth mentioning, but was pleasantly surprised with how they got it SO right with their fresh, full-sized salad!
...& if you get Jaymes as your server, you're winning.
I hear they're under new management, who's doing a wonderful job.
.
I'll be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I came here when in town and had the absolute best time! This was the best pizza I've had in a really long time! I absolutely loved it! The wings and meatballs were absolutely great as well!
Our server was super awesome and helped us through the menu! It has great seating and a great lunch menu as well.
Hands down the best oven fired pizza I've had. The crust was phenomenal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My first time and probably my last. Went in on a Monday with wife, not one person at the bar. Sat for a cocktail and order carry out. I dropped $75.00 plus a $15.00 tip on carry out. Meatball pizza was very good, the meatball sandwich was a disaster. My God it's a pizza crust folded with cut meatballs, wife threw it away. This is another covid upside down time restaurant, They close at 9 and are pushy on getting you out. I'm sick of restaurants living by the covid hours, getting your order in by 8:30 is ridiculous. They should close at 11every night. This is why people aren't eating in Bethesda. They are going to Pike and Rose, DC, or Park Potomac were a grown up can eat at a adult time. I felt rushed and as if I was putting the bartender out, weak effort on his part.

Harold, we're truly sorry that your first experience with us didn't match what we aim to deliver to every guest. It's disappointing to hear that you felt rushed and that the meatball sandwich didn't meet your expectations, despite enjoying the pizza. Our team would love to work towards your complete satisfaction, so please email us at bethesda@acfp.com with your contact information and availability. Thank you, Bethesda Team

The restaurant is absolutely filthy! the menus have chunks of food on them there's dust everywhere, when they move the bottles in the bar you can see the dust rings all the way around them, there's dust on top of the lights, on top of all the pipes and fixtures all along baseboards, dirty seats , dirty rags laying on the floor etc. The service is terrible. Today, May 17th I went into the restaurant around 11:40 with a friend, was seated in the bar area by the host, a group of six or seven other folks came in after we were seated, and they took all seven of their orders and never came to our table, so we got up and left, no one said a word as we walked out. we will never go back and I will make it a point to tell everyone I know not to go there either!

Had my usual mushroom pizza and it was perfection. The crust was soft and my poor pooch barely got any pizza bones! What we did also get were the garlic Romano wings. Sorry, no pics this time because we demolished them instantly. I love that you can request flats only for no up charge. They were delicious and the meat was very tender. My pooch did get to try a few nibbles and she gave them two paws up (mostly on my lap)!

Hi Libby, we appreciate the positive feedback. It means a lot. Hope you have an amazing day!
Sep 24, 2022Previous reviewThis is the third time I've done carry out here. I don't know why I haven't written a review sooner. This is probably my favorite pizza within three miles of my home. Yes, they out rank nearby Matchbox.
I love the connivence of pickup here since early COVID times. The meters along side the entrance are covered and the area is yours to park for pickup. Just order on line, they'll give you an estimated time, call when you arrive, and voila! Hot pizza delivered to your waiting vehicle.
As for the pizza, it is really delicious. I got mine for free for my birthday courtesy of their app. I just paid for the mushrooms and tip.
If you're in Bethesda and craving pizza, this is the place for you. Download their app first. They are very generous on their offers all year long. - Apr 18, 2023
We've walked by Anthony's in Bethesda several times before and finally decided to give it a try. Their pizza is cooked in a coal-fired oven at 900 degrees, which gives it a nice smoky flavor. The wings were cooked perfectly and well-flavored. What really stood out was their exceptional customer service - the staff were all so friendly, helpful, and made us feel so welcome. There were two of us, and we wanted to try two types of pizzas. Initially, we were going to order one of each, which would have been way too much food (their smallest pizza can feed 2-3). Then our server let us know that we could actually order half of each, so that we could save money and try what we wanted. That option was perfect, and we even had leftovers to enjoy later. They really put the satisfaction and interest of customers first and make us want to visit again.
We tried:
Maria's meatball
Roasted chicken wings with garlic Romano sauce
Half traditional cheese pizza and half Caprese pizza
TiramisuHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Wood Fire Perfection - The hand-crushed plum tomatoes were sweet and chunky from the wood fire flames, perfectly balancing the oozy, smoky mozzarella. A heavenly match of flavors. I could have used a bit more bacon, as it was on the lighter side. But overall, a really enjoyable wood-fired pie. The casual vibe of the restaurant made it a nice relaxing spot for a holiday Monday. I'll definitely be coming back to get my wood fire pizza fix!

Hi Chris,
We are so happy that you enjoyed Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza! We appreciate your feedback and we're looking forward to seeing you again soon. - Tiana S.Northeast Washington, Washington, DC14689181Jul 14, 2023Updated review
I've been to Anthony's quite a few times and I can say the service, food, and atmosphere is always 10/10. My husband and I always sit at the bar because of Jaymes. Jaymes is a truly amazing bartender and his customer service is bomb. He makes great suggestions on what to try and always makes us good drinks.
On our last visit, we got a half pepperoni and sausage pizza, garlic Romano wings, and Caesar salad. Everything was so delicious! The garlic romano wings always hit! I'll definitely be back to try more things on the menu. Make sure y'all go see Jaymes at the bar!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 20, 2021Previous reviewI love this place and cannot wait to go back! My fiancé and I decided to go here for date night. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by one of the staff and he allowed me to decide where I wanted to sit, so I decided to sit at the bar. We were waited on by Jaymes the bartender! He was truly amazing! He made great drinks, was very friendly, and made wonderful suggestions.
My fiancé got the old fashion and he loved it. I got the margarita which was very delicious! Also, they have a 2 for 1 wine special and we definitely got two glasses of wine! For food we ordered the Caesar salad, cheese pizza, and pepperoni pizza. When I say all the food was amazing! The croutons in the Caesar really made the difference. Now to the pizza, DELICIOUS! The sauce and crust was really good. Jaymes told us they make the sauce in house and you can tell. I wish I could give this place 10 stars, I really cannot wait to go back.
