My students and I LOVE Wordsmyth. Other web sites may have lots of fancy stuff, but that stuff tends to be distracting. I'm a member (dirt cheap fee) and it's worth more than every cent.

I actually have memberships of at least 3 other educational programs and I appreciate that Wordsmyth is just as valuable, but doesn't cost much.

With other educational sites, my students get a steady diet of animation, music, and color overload. (Sometimes, it can drive you nuts to listen to all of that noise.) So Wordsmyth, in its simplicity is actually a break from the norm. Students have a great variety of games that actually support learning new words. Their vocabulary has improved. And, as a result, their reading and writing has also improved.

Like I said before, my students and I love Wordsmyth.

This software is outdated, the style of the web site is amateurish, and the content is unremarkable. Wordsmyth gives off the feeling of a tired enterprise that has seen better days. They mean well, but it's time to close this effort down, and it's hard seeing it limp along.
