We sat at the bar on a Saturday night since we did not have reservation. This restaurant has an unique menu and the recipes are exquisites, the mix of flavors challenge your sensory perception and the presentation of the dishes are truly artistic.
We had the carbonara and the anchovies pizza . The combination of the sweetness of the pizza crust balanced with the rich and strong flavor of the anchovies is very balanced which gives a treat to the palate . The pizza was cooked perfect and we truly enjoyed it . The carbonara has cabbage instead of pasta and the mixed cheese with its rich and creamy flavor, and pancetta make this dish a must when dinning at Walrus Rodeo.
We did not have dessert because we had no room left ..
Shawn, our server and the bartender as well, was very busy, but he took the time to explain every dish and the cocktails as well. He was very knowledgeable about all the ingredients and his comfortable tone gave us the chance to inquire about some of the other dishes the and the signature mixed drinks .
Kristy, the GM, took the time to talk to us for a bit and made us feel at easy. Overall, it was a great experience.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 26, 2024
Walrus rodeo was overall a great experience. The place is very unique in decor so make sure to check out the vibes before to see if you like it. It is casual and I think is great for date night or friends night out so you can share a few dishes.
Dishes were very unique but for me some were a little bit strong in condiments such as the carrot tartare, which tasted too much like cumin. But since this is very subjective what I will say is that if you like bold strong flavors this is the right place for you.
My favorite dishes were the crudo and the mushrooms
They only have wine and beers and soft cocktails with sake and bubbles.
Service was good. They took the time to explain the whole menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stefano Z.Miami Beach, FL4944Feb 15, 2024
This restaurant is a very nice looking TRAP, let me explain the reasons in the most objective way possible:
-AESTHETICS: The name itself Walrus Rodeo is very cool. Like the wallpaper, the ceiling and the furniture. Yet it is only the beginning of how the owners feed you with a creative concept which will fail to delivery in consistency.
- COCKTAILS: I found it very inspiring to make cocktails based on the fact that they don't have a license for spirits, using only wines and vermouths. The cocktails were good, yet missing the buzz factor so you feel the need to order more, which I didn't.
-MENU: Usually we order pretty fast, but somehow the very well graphically designed menu and the intricate dish names made me wonder what to pick. We ordered after 20 mins of dwelling over the dish descriptions. Even more shocking when we saw the pizza section going till $199.
-SERVICE: The waiter was very kind, although the more she continued to describe the plates, the more we became confused.
Since we didn't know what to get we asked to order 2 dishes and then to add something later based on how we felt. She declined the possibility saying "You HAVE to order all at once." Not a comforting feeling I'd say.
-We chose these 3 dishes:
-TURNIP SALAD: very nice dressing but very overwhelming. Fresh at the beginning, but I would have preferred to have it next to the other dishes, again not possible since it arrived first by itself.
-LAMB LASAGNA: pleasant and since we were hungry we devoured it, but it was incredibly salty and super tiny. It only had 2 thin layers and the spinach pesto on top, although nice was overtaking the flavor of the lamb. The Parmesan cheese on top (only one side, weird) was more salt on top of an already salty dish.
-RODEO ZA PIZZA: weirdest selection of flavors EVER.
Between the Chicken Sausage (cheaper alternative for pork sausage), and the anchovies with breadcrumbs and uber expensive caviar (from $85 to $199), we chose the Rodeo Za. The first bite was interesting, between salty and sweet coming from the maple glazed crust, but after second slice I was done.
-DESSERT: We skipped dessert since we felt the american pie made of churros and liquid chocolate would have been another strange experience like the pizza.
BILL: the cherry on top
-Vero Water..a fancy tap water name: $1
-Healthcare Service charges: 2%..with the addendum at the bottom basically making you feel bad for refusing to paying for it.
*Beware, you can ask your waiter to remove it and tell them straight to their face that you don't want to contribute to their health coverage. I mean what type of person does that to their employees?

Don't contribute to turning Miami into a gimmicky take on hipster Brooklyn without the actual food expertise of NY.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Mimi S.Edgewater, Miami, FL94858May 19, 2024
My expectations were high as Boia de is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami, but I left pretty disappointed. I found a hair in my crudo all tangled in the fish, which was pretty disgusting. The only things that I really enjoyed was the pizza. Everything else was lacking a lot of flavor.

What an experience! I was visiting a friend and she chose this spot and I'm so glad she did. We sat at the chef's counter, so we were able to watch them make the food right in front of us. Our server was so knowledgeable and helpful while choosing what to order. He gave us some recommendations and told us his favorites and also popular dishes. He was fantastic! Made our dinner experience even better.
We started with some very unique drinks. A martini that used tomato sauce, wow so good!!! And their take on a spicy margarita, also amazing. We started with the oysters that were out of this world, the breadcrumbs on top really pulls it all together. We got the bone marrow which is always so good, a little salty but that's okay. Our serve brought some brandy and we took a "shot" with the remainder of the bone marrow juices and whatnot. So cool!
We then shared the lamb lasagna which was incredible! I believe it had bashemel which is my favorite. We then ended with the Za - I'm not an anchovies girl but I wasn't mad about it! Be careful it's got a kick to it!
Overall amazing experience! I love the decor, the vibe was perfect, the food was amazing, impeccable service. What more do you need? Check them out!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 32194337Jan 20, 2024
Had to come since we were so many good reviews so here's my take.
The ambiance is so cute and I liked the layout of the restaurant. Didn't come in with a reservation which wasn't a problem (yay).
Ok so first for drinks, I had the Pom-rita which was pretty good and my sister had their take of an aperol spritz. It was fine but we switched drinks afterward.
The service was really good and attentive. Everyone was nice.
For the food, we shared 4 items.
First was the carrot tartare which was good, definitely different, and pretty tasty. But if I'm being honest, while I liked it I wouldn't order again. Good to try once.
The burrata was good, I loved the bread it came with.
The cabbage carbonara was actually pretty good and I'm not sure what I was expecting but the dish was better. Very different and yummy but not something I'd trek back here for.
Last thing we had was a pizza. It was good and cooked well. I enjoyed it :) and also really liked the spice to it.
All around it was a good experience but I'm not rushing to go back. It's pretty expensive for what it was as well.
Also for full transparency, as the waiter said, there is a "health service" charge which is an additional fee in the bill that goes towards their health insurance. I've never seen that and while I understand it, i still think it is weird to include that in the customer's bill.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 7, 2023
This truly stands out as one of the most remarkable restaurant experiences I've ever had. I often consider ordering in to avoid the sense of walking into a restaurant and dining alone, but the instant I approached the host stand at Walrus Rodeo, that feeling of solitude simply vanished.
The culinary journey began with their exquisite carrot tartare, which was a delightful and inventive twist on a classic. Then came the grilled romaine salad, a fresh and flavorful creation that left my taste buds dancing.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show, the lamb lasagna. It was a thin and crispy masterpiece, reminiscent of the coveted edges of a perfectly made lasagna, which is in fact the inspiration behind the dish.
I had the privilege of sitting at the chef's table, where the attentive staff, including the lovely server Soto, ensured that my dining experience was flawless. They were by my side in an instant, whether my water needed refilling or a plate was empty. The service here felt like dining in someone's home, with a sincere dedication to guiding me through their menu highlights and addressing any allergies. I left with the assurance that every detail was meticulously attended to.
Now, let's talk desserts. The "Busta Rhymes" dessert, a clever double entendre referencing his song "Gimme S'more," was a sweet symphony of flavors that left me craving more. And the orange creamsicle in a perfect waffle cone was not just a treat for the taste buds but also an interactive experience - mashing it up and savoring every bite was pure joy.
For non-dessert eaters, Walrus Rodeo offers a deconstructed espresso martini in a rocks glass as an adorable and perfect ending to an exceptional meal.
Walrus Rodeo truly knows how to create a memorable dining experience, and I can't wait to return.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 6, 2023
This is the place to be! This little hidden gem was fantastic! The service at this restaurant is remarkable. Everyone knows the menus inside out m, everyone is working together to make sure you have the most memorable experience. You get the sense that they are truly a team and a family.
Now to the food! I was left speechless. Every dish is uniquely created and has layers of intense flavors, spices and may I add creativity! The carrot tartar it's a must try. Everything we had was a 10/10!
I cannot wait to return to this restaurant we did have 5 dishes for 2 ppl and we were pretty full. Honestly we should have ordered 4 so that we left room for dessert, but that just gives us a reason to go back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 13, 2023
Came as part of my 7000 mile 24 city road trip. First, my server was fantastic! Super knowledgeable of the items and gave a ton of feedback on her suggestions.
The star was the Cornballer Za Pizza! Wood fired with chanterelle mushrooms, corn, Gruyère, and Fresno peppers! The char on the delicious dough was great. Almost wish the Fresno brough a bit more heat than it did.
Also had the Cabbage Carbonara which was Pancetta, pecorino, and fermented hollandaise. This one admittedly threw me off a bit. While it tasted good, the cabbage seemingly replaced noodles for a fettuccini Alfredo vibe, but I swear, all I could smell during the entire dish was that childhood memory of opening up a Lipton Alfredo just add milk or water packet. The crunchy pancetta was excellent but I'm not sure it hit its price point.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2023
Absolutely 5 stars. This place is amazing from beginning to end. Who knew veggies were so tasty????
Carrot tartare - this sounds totally bizarre, but honestly was so tasty. They make it have a sort of meaty taste but it's still light. Carrot chips too!
Lions mane mushroom carpaccio - this one had crunchy peas, and the dashi made it taste slightly more like Chinese / Japanese cuisine.
Bone marrow - I love bone marrow so it's always a winner. I would say out of everything on the menu it wowed me the least. But I still enjoyed it.
Their pizzas! Get a pizza. The corn pizza was shockingly good. I loved it and would eat it again in a heartbeat.
Quail - perfectly cooked and seasoned. Veggies under were tasty too.
The busta rhymes dessert was amazing because both of us love s'mores and churros.
Drinks - my understanding is their cocktails are all lower ABV. Still very good, but probably less strong!
Super fun place - chef's counter has 5 seats - would highly suggest sitting there to watch them make pizza and other dishes
Parking is plentiful. Reduced my personal anxiety when coming back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
