Vinh hoa is a staple for any celebration in my family. My family and I have been coming here for years and love family style. Their menu is extensive, including meat, seafood, and vegetables centered dishes. They have dinner sets that includes enough food for a certain number of people, lunch specials, and plenty more to choose from. This place has some of the best Asian style seafood. Service is hectic at times during peak hours but are decent otherwise.
My favorites:
-ginger scallion or XO sauce lobster
-frog legs
-sweet and sour pork spare ribs
-razor clams
-coconut snails
-mapo tofu
-water spinach
-salt and pepper squid
-salt and pepper tofuHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Amy N.Great Oaks, Houston, TX01218May 15, 2024
I have been going here since elementary school and now as a college student it is still one of my favorite places for authentic comfort chinese/viet foods. A must have item is their razor clams and fried fish, these dishes never miss and always hits the spot. Every dish is piping hot and served with care. As for the service, you can't ask for much else all the waiters are always friendly and greet you with a warm welcome. The space is always lively especially on weekends where there can be a slight wait. This place makes me feel like i'm in a wong kar wai film.

Fresh seafood and delicious dishes! Our favorite is their eggplant, Manila clams In xo sauce, sup mang cua, fried tofu, muc rang muoi. It's a great restaurant if you like family style where the table orders a bunch of dishes and everyone shares. Service was decent but it is what it is when you're in bellaire.
Will definitely be back with my family in the future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Martha G.Albuquerque, NM153163Mar 25, 2024
18 yrs ago came here for dinner after a small wedding. We come here at least twice a year(even though we live in Northern New Mexico). We absolutely love the food. Love the service! The Jasmine tea is always good. Let it steep a moment before pouring. Lots of super fresh seafood. The consistency over the 18 years we have been eating here is 100%. Lunch and dinner are always busy but worth the wait. This evening we came a little early for dinner and had an extra attentive dinner. Large family accommodations are the norm, and family meals have a complete section in the menu. Had Gen Tsao Chicken for the first time here tonight and was not disappointed. It was so good!

Came here during last night for Chinese New Year eve around 5pm and I was satisfied by this establishment. I was told that Vinh Hoa is one of the better Restaurants in Chinatown area. I ordered 3 dishes, Razor clam in garlic sauce and basil, Beef black pepper on sizzling plate, and steamed Pork Belly w/ salted vegetables. Razor clam and pork belly were really really good, but the black pepper beef really disappoint me because it definitely looked good but tasted bland. They gave plenty of rice which is a plus point. Service and ambience was good. Price not too expensive either.
Overall, i would definitely go back to try other dishes.

Overall, this place was pretty legit. One thing I really liked was the the portion sizes were HUGE. I generally order several dishes because I have a huge appetite, but as the various items were being brought out I quickly realized that I had ordered too much. My favorite was probably the buttered fried soft shell crabs, which were perfectly fried, crisp, and delicious. I also enjoyed the razor clams with basil & jalapeños. The crab & fish maw soup was mild, but tasty. The house special lobsters were just ok in my opinion, kinda chewy and lacking the "oomph" to put them over the top. I left fat and satisfied, and that's what counts.

Party of 3. Total bill $120. Good fix, not too shabby. Seafood are fresh in tanks. I don't like lobster, but lobster here was good. Tender not chewy. The free range chicken was good. The canh chua had no flavor, the oc was ok, sauce too thick.
Black peppered lobster, ga di Bo Cham hanh gung (best)
Rao muong xao toi, oc xao nuc dua (ok)
Canh chua ca (no bueno)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 10, 2022
We've been here so many times bcoz of fast service and food was good.
Last Sunday we were here with a big group of about 25 ppl.
The lady server was rude from the start but I let it go then after we were done eating. We found out she over charge us by gave us the wrong menu we ordered. She litterally upsale without confirming with us.
We ordered the 10 people menu of $238 but got charged $258 bcoz she chose the wrong menu. When we asked for a manager she told us they don't have manager in house. I confronted her , she said she heard wrong and admitted that she gave us the wrong menu and apologized but surely she wasn't sincere of it.
Last month we had used this facility for a birthday party of 30 people but they served for 40ppl so they charged us 10 extra.
This is the 2nd time we got over charged on something we didn't order.
So if you go here in a big group be extra careful.
Oh then they automatically charged 20% gratuity but it wasn't listed on their menu.
Sorry but Vinh Hoa sure loose my business after 2 consecutive misleading services.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 12, 2022
My last visit was disappointing. Perhaps expectations were too high or the wrong menu items were chosen this time around. Either way, my last experience left me no desire to come back here ever again.
My wife and I wanted to have dinner with my family somewhere traditional so we decided to give this place a chance. Since we had eight people all together, we decided to choose a pre-set menu of soup, crab, veggies, shrimp, chicken, and more. Price was $280 for all of this (or about $35 per person before tax and tip).
The food came out one by one relatively quickly, but sadly nothing caught my eye. Portions were small and some of the dishes did not taste fresh. Even just by looking at the plates, I knew in my mind that the next one was going to be a disappointment. The food just simply wasn't that good.
I wish the best for this place because it's sad to see old establishments fade away. Hopefully they improve.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Elizabeth G.San Antonio, TX33020May 29, 2023
Our family is no joke when it comes to eating Vietnamese food makes me smile just thinking of eating Vietnamese food :)
Well my hubby and I visited the other night let me tell you how much we love Vietnamese food specifically this restaurant. We drive 4 hours to come dine at Vinh Hoa.
Let's start w their bird nest w chicken the noodles are nice and crunchy yet soft in middle from sauciness yummm. I've eaten this dish many times but oh boy this dish was HUGE it is big enough to feed 3-4 people .
Secondly the shrimp fried rice is so delicious and aromatic I can't eat enough of it !!
Our last dish was a shrimp and egg so flavorful. If you mix it w the shrimp fried rice omg your food palate will be delighted !
All of this food was only $49 and we had plenty of left overs.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
