Q:
What is the parking situation?
A:
They have complimentary valet! As soon as you drive in to their tiny little horseshoe of a driveway, a valet attendant will come for your keys. :)

What are the prices? I can't find them anywhere. I need to know how much to save before making a reservation.
A:
It's on the pricey side but well worth it. We had wine with our meal and shared and it was about $150.

Came for the views, stayed for the food!
Its a great spot for brunch, lunch and/or dinner. Cant go wrong with any if their dishes. Vaga made my stay at Alila that much more enjoyable with convenient food and rooftop options all in one.
Had their grilled chicken sandwich which was great quality and hit the spot. We also enjoyed the drinks by the fireplace outside at the rooftop bar.
Staff were nice a d very hospitable. When we didnt quite enjoy one of the drinks they were kind and took it off the tab. Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 69048116700Mar 28, 20241 check-in
When I approached the reception desk at Vaga Restaurant at about 11:45 am for my 12 Noon reservation on a Sunday, the tattooed hostess was furiously tapping on her I-Pad. Oddly, she continued her incessent tapping as I checked in and provided my name, scarcely looking up at me during the process. What on earth was so urgent on that I-Pad?
Although the restaurant was nearly dead empty except for three occupied tables, the hostess asked me to wait a moment "to the side". She then resumed her furious I-Pad tapping. After waiting and standing there in the empty room for TEN MINUTES, I approached the tapping hostess [yes, she was STILL going at it!] and advsied her that i had just undergone a total left knee replacement surgery and could I please be taken to one of the sea of empty tables in the dining room.
She seeemed surprised by my presence, and commented "she wasn't sure" if a server were available. Note---as stated above, the room was nearly empty, there seemed to be a number of staff members milling about, and at NO time later did any additional servers come on duty in the dining room, so it is not as if she was waiting for additional staff to arrive before seating me. Nonetheless,, I was seated at that time.
The restaurant was "out" of the bottle of Iitalian Sparkling wine I initially requested. Accordingly, I went with a bottle of French Champagne, which I emjoyed.
Once seated, the service by a young blond woman from Vermont [I forget her name] was kind an efficient. She was assited by Joey from Philadelphia, who was equally pleasant
I noticed other people who arrived after me were also made to wait inexplicably long times by the hostess before being seated. Why? What is going on at the reception at Vaga?
The Fish escabeche was delicious and beautifully served.
The valet parking up front is easy and seamless, and the attendants greet you nicely. Someone thereafter opens the door to the lobby, which is a nice touch.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - 1397221814Mar 14, 2024
Gorgeous restaurant and great service, but the food and wine list missed the mark.
The servers also don't know how to properly describe the entrees. I ordered scallops and they were so spicy that I started coughing and sweating (and I do love spicy food!). The chocolate bomb dessert was described as rich and super sweet, but instead it was really flavorless and light with hardly any sugar. The sides of potatoes were just okay. Appetizers were the best with the duck confit tacos (and I'm not a big fan of duck in general).
Overall, this restaurant was convenient with great service, but I wouldn't return for another meal.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - S P.San Diego, CA0276May 20, 2024
This place is always a hit -- the service is perfection, food is amazing and the drinks are awesome. The lemon ricotta pancakes are my favorite.

We ordered food and 4 drinks each for a group of 3 and then the waiter dropped off the check and told us they wouldn't serve us anymore. We had a quiet party. We were told there was no reason why we weren't served anymore. Won't be back.

While living in Minneapolis we watched the series Iron Chef Mexico and fell in love with Chef Claudette Zepeda culinary skills on the show. We had dreams of the days we would be back in San Diego to make a reservation to finally try her restaurant. We made a reservation for anniversary and it did not disappoint. Pro tip: they only do valet so be prepared for that.
We got a lovely window seat with a beautiful view. Started off with some warm bread which was hit with our 7 month old. Along with the Potato & Coal Roasted Leek which was quite tasty.
Main course was the Achiote & Sour Orange Chicken & Market Fish which was the swordfish for the night. I'll tell you what, the Chicken was a very decent portion of protein it was definitely filling. My wife enjoyed her swordfish and my daughter loved her bread. Also, we enjoyed our meals with a nice glass of wine. It was a lovely evening.
Thanks VAGA.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 31, 2023
My friend wanted to check out the new restaurant at the alila hotel and so she made a reservation on a Saturday night. Place was busy so we couldn't move our reservation up. Elevated restaurant space and nice hotel setting for a date night. Menu is eclectic. I would call it American/seafood.
Overall the food was pretty but it was pricey and valet was $5. They do have a kids menu which is good if you are staying with kids and need to eat the restaurant.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
One. This hotel is gorgeous. If you have the time and or even care, the length of time it took to get this approved and built will blow your mind. There is nothing like it.
Two. The view from this upstairs restaurant is killer. Make this a work lunch or any reason to come.
Three. The food was delicious as well! I was quite impressed with the fusion menu. My fave is the lobster salad. I'm not a salad girly butttt this is the salad for all non salad types.
Their portions are very fair and the food is fresh and quite the time overall. Highly recommend!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vanessa V.San Diego, CA1862123May 2, 2024
This place has an amazing view and outdoor seating area, I'll definitely be back just for that! Service was great and everyone seems really friendly. I shared the Benedict and the steak omelette with a friend, and while the omelette was a little dry I thought the Benedict was honestly one of the best I've had. Can't wait to try this place again!
