Best restaurant ever. The food was amazing and service has been great every single time we come in

Stoped here with friends for dinner. None of us have ever been here so we went in with open minds and ready to be fed some good food!!

So many choices to dine. Inside the restaurant, outside tables or cute yurts that seem to seat about 4 comfortably.

Inside is beautiful and rustic. Very comfortable not pretentious. We were given menus but really didn't understand the process until our food server explained that side dishes are served family style in Le Cruset casserole dishes, you just need to pick a couple of proteins to go with them.

Our choices: a full loaf of sourdough, fresh picked veggies and their own dip, braised leeks that are meant to be served cold, a whole deboned chicken and a filet of sturgeon. Everything was beyond incredible!! So much flavor!! Everything was extremely fresh. We kept making yum noises and saying OMG after tasting each dish. We couldn't have been happier. All our dishes seemed to compliment each other so well. Our food server was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE...she knew just the right wine to suggest with it and we took her suggestion. She really went ABOVE and BEYOND her job. No I can see whay she was training someone...she really knows the fine art of turning someone's dinner into an experience!!

5 stars Charter Oak! You exceeded in all aspects!

Everything was just okay but nothing special about it.
The bread was good but raw vegetables and caviar were not tasty. For the dinner, mushroom was really good but fish, chicken, and steak were awful.

For the service you expect a lot more but they won't meet your expectations.
The landscape, interior and exterior designs are really good and i think that's the only good thing about this place. These two stars are for the design and overall experience and not for the food. The food itself won't get any stars if we consider the price.

We came to try charter Oak because I've heard so many good things about it, and even the reviews of the dishes that we ordered were rave.

And the ambience is wonderful. Our server was great, but I will have to say whoever the chef was today really missed the mark, ...the little gem salad has dill and there was quite a bit of it so that ruined the salad for me!...And my husband ordered the sturgeon which was horrible and both the dishes came so overly salted we couldn't even eat them because the salt was off the charts,so I don't know ?...today is a Monday and the A-Team was off?... because unfortunately the review cannot be five star. I'm very sad that I spent a lot of money and it was in my opinion somewhat wasted.!

Thank you!! My hubby and I originally came here for the yurt experience and did not have a good time. The ambiance and service was good but the food was not. We were invited back to experience the restaurant so we ended up coming with our two small children. What a different experience!! All of the food was fantastic. First of all, they have play dough for the kids which was a hit. The drinks were great we had a Negroni, banana daiquiri, and we tried the not so espresso martini. Each was delicious and we highly recommend. We also had the smoked fish brunch addition which was fantastic. The bread was so fresh and every element of the plate worked well together.

Our kids had a hot dog and burger both with fries. They came out right away and each were delicious. My hubby and i had the little gem Caesar and bavette steak. For dessert we had basque cheesecake and the soft serve. Overall a fantastic meal and we will definitely be back. Thank you to charter oak for welcoming us back and allowing us to experience your food.

What a treat! My husband booked a Yurt dining experience my birthday. It was just lovely. Even on a rainy day, waking into the restaurant is impressive. It is just a beautiful restaurant!

My husband said he was called by the restaurant a few days prior to confirm the reservation and (given that the cold and rainy weather was expected) if we still wanted to Yurt dine. We did and they gave us great advice of dress in layers. They also went over the 4 course menu which I felt was thoughtful.

I was impressed with how warm the Yurt was but if you are still cold, there are blankets for you to use. Rene was thee most attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and awesome server. He hands down answered all of our questions and our food came out in perfect timing of one another. We had plenty of private quiet dining which was welcomed due to us celebrating my birthday.

Food was hands down delicious!

I recommend:

The vegetables with the soy bean dip. Do not skip on the fresh vegetables. You'll never have veggies like this again! Trust me.

The bread. Ok I know what you are thinking..it's just bread. Well no, it is not. Crispy on the outside, perfect chew on the inside and spectacular churned butter. So good.

From the tasting menu:

The chicken croquettes. Right size bites packing so much flavor.

Duck and beet salad- what a perfect pair.

Chicken broth- a small sip feels like a warm tight hug.

I would love to come back. Correction. We will be back in the late spring/early summer. Would love to do a dinner in a yurt.

I never knew this gem of a place existed. I selfishly want to keep this place a secret but it's so hard to not rave about Charter Oak. I'm so glad my husband chose this place to dine at. I highly recommend and cannot wait to go back. .

Spent dinner at the yurt while its raining- feel so warm and comforting. We feel bad for out server bec he was soaking wet going back & forth for our food. As a pre set dinner, they served us duck which is so good. The yam dessert is perfect

I was recommended this place for the burger and my oh my did it blow me away! Best burger I've had in the area, hands down! It's served with hand cut fries and their ketchup, that they make in house. Delicious!! You have to also try their soft serve ice cream, so good!!! We really appreciated the service when we told them we were in a rush to get to our next wine tasting. They got us in and out very quickly. I will be dreaming of this burger until I come back.

We came here the other day during normal service hours, and had to come back again for happy hour. We've decided this is the best happy hour in the area! Every dish is a great deal compared to the regular menu prices. If the bar is full, ask if you can order inside and carry it out to sit near the fire pit - there's no table service but you can still get all the happy hour deals.

Their raw vegetables are raved about but at $25 on the regular menu, we weren't willing to pay such a high price for uncooked plants. We got it on the happy hour menu for $16, and I hate to say it but the hype is worth it. The vegetables are fresh and it's fun to taste all the different greens, but the real star of the show is the soy dip. It was SO addicting - I had no idea dip could be that good!

Some of my all time favorite dishes that I've had in California come from Charter Oak! I really enjoy the moody & cozy ambiance, and the beautiful architecture and grounds.

I do recommend eating there on a day when it's a bit livelier, otherwise off- hours can feel almost as if it were closed...and it's not the most enjoyable atmosphere.

My go-to's are the Bread & Cultured Butter, Crudite, Yellow Miso Caesar, The Cheeseburger, Burnt Vanilla Soft Serve with Pecan Oil and any seasonal proteins from The Hearth. One of my favorites being the Pork Tenderloin with Plum Sauce & Roasted Chicken with Black Garlic Barbecue sauce.

Dishes from The Hearth do change frequently, which I appreciate this as the menu is tailored to each season. Each dish is served family style, so I recommend going with a spouse or a friend to try a few different items. The prices can be high, but seeing how impressive the food quality is for a Napa Valley restaurant, I think it's no different than its neighbors.

If you are looking for a beautifully designed restaurant with seasonal, rustic flavors, this is the place!
