One of the worst supermarkets in the country. Sandymount should be like shooting fish in a barrel for a retailer but this shop gets it spectacularly wrong.
Could do a LOT betterHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Quentin D.Dublin, Republic of Ireland8731084932Jan 2, 2011
How should i put this.... Not a flagship store... Yup, that probably covers it. Most staff are fine there but there are one or two there that shouldn't have customer facing postions.
As far as supermarkets go it is grand... In that great irish way of saying "grand"..ie i dont want to be insulting but it's not my cup of teaHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Bridget R.PA, PA55454718Dec 10, 2009
Ah sure, where else would you go for a six-pack of 2 litre diet pepsi while in Sandymount?
Tesco Sandymount is a perfunctory outlet of the wildly successful grocery super giant Tesco. While many newer stores offer sensible lay outs and easy to browse aisles, this branch simply offers pedestrian shoppers the best spot for affordable staples like bread, milk and broccoli.
Like most Tesco stores this also features an in-house bakery (back and to the right) with fresh rolls, scones and desserts available. Parking is definitely space with just a few spaces out front -if a visit is absolutely necessary try finding space along Sandymount Green and walking over.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ciara K.Dublin, Republic of Ireland11362366Sep 24, 2009First to Review
Tescos in Sandymount is obviously not a flagship store. The "fresh" flowers at the entrance are always wilted and sad, indicative of the tone of the place as a whole. Its pokey and badly laid out, and for whatever reason, the products are constantly being shifted around from one aisle to the other making it impossible to find anything quickly. And its not a place for browsing. They used to have a tiny carpark with space for about 8 cars at the rear of the supermarket but that's gone years now, and a parking space anywhere in the village is impossible to come by, so you really have to live within walking distance for this place to be of any use to you at all. The queues are always ridiculously long too.
On the up side, the off licence is reasonable and has some good deals on wine, and some of the staff have been here donkeys which is probably a good sign - I remember some of the ladies here when we were sent out collecting receipts in primary school for free computer equipment, a long long time ago...
Basically if you live in the area you'd be much better off heading to the Merrion Centre.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter G.Ballsbridge, Republic of Ireland01Jun 1, 2015
Pallets everywhere, all the time. It seems to be constantly in a state of being restocked. Absolute pain to shop in.
