We ate at Sarge's twice on our most recent New York adventure. It was that good!
The food there is so, so good! Very fresh, generous portions. We had their vegetarian and regular burgers with the crinkle cut and sweet potato fries. We also had their chicken salad and turkey sandwiches.
Their homemade cheesecake is the best in New York! We tried both the oreo and reese's slices!
Huge and extremely dense pieces that were so amazing!
Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Service is very attentive, helpful and nice! Love Sarge's!

The food was excellent exactly what you needed from a New York delicatessen.
The service was amazing. The server was the one that actually suggested that we split a sandwich because they're very large. She said if we want a dessert, they were really big also and we needed to save room for the cheesecake.
Unfortunately, we did not get a picture of the cheesecake because it went fast. This review is from when we were on vacation, I would definitely go back to this place it had the old school ambiance of the traditional New York deli and you know they have been there a while. The character of the building was amazing and the food also, Great job, check it out .

I was looking forward to my meal at Sarge's. I'd heard only good things. NY delis used to be more common than they are now. A lot of them have closed - Sid & George, Jay & Lloyd's in Brooklyn. My favorite delis are Mill Basin and Junior's. Junior's turkey sandwich and potato salad is one of life's greatest pleasures, while their cheesecake is kind of meh.

I ordered a turkey sandwich. Simple. Where could you go wrong? It smelled delicious as I walked in. It had that classic deli smell.

The servers were very nice and accomodating.

The place? It's small and a time warp. Posters from decades ago line the walls. No wait.

Pickle was not good but that was complimentary. Cole slaw was average.

The portions are tremendous. You will take home food.

I had a turkey sandwich and as someone else mentioned it was dry. The prices are out of control. $30 for a sandwich is insane for a place like this and the quality does not back it up. It tastes like diner food which you could get for half the price.

If you are in the area and hungry, it's ok. I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Finally tried it and the only disappointment was that I missed out on years of accessible pastrami.

Post bar bites. They're not open super late but I'll take a 10pm close in a post pandemic world. Service is efficient enough though sandwiches took a while to come out. Still, it was worth the wait. Ambience is fine. Lots of wood, with bright lights.

Loaded fries, with cheese and bacon. Can't go wrong there. Then a variety of sandwiches for the table. Large, as expected. I ate half and had plenty for a separate snack and a breakfast plate the next day. The tongue is mild in flavor but still rich. Pastrami is well spiced and tender. Didn't request a specific cut but it was not too lean of fatty. If you have a preference, they slice it thin here so prepare accordingly. Pickles and slaw come default with the sandwiches.

      I'll be back for sure.

Amy was our sweet and kick ass waitress which made the place the best! Food was delicious too. It's cute place with lots of regulars and big booths. The portions are really generous. I loved my sliders and I'm still stuffed in a good way. My friend loved his pastrami sandwich.

Finally made it and was not disappointed! What took me so long? Much smaller restaurant than I expected but packed with nostalgic dinner vibes, friendliness and great food. Rather extensive menu, it did take me forever to decide but just means I will have to go back to try more, and I cannot wait. Excellent customer service and LARGE portions. FREE slaw and pickles (definitely cannot go wrong with that). The food was honestly better then known competition without the crazy lines and includes table side service. You won't regret going here!! YUMMY!!!

Exactly what I want in a diner. Good, stick to your rib food - no frills but none are needed because its great quality and home cooked. A must when I visit NYC

Huge sandwiches here! This is a classic NY style deli with good food. All the sandwiches you'd expect and then some.

The portions are enormous, and the prices fit the portions.

Arrived on a Sunday after a long day of flying and wanted comfort food to warm me up.

I arrived at Sarge's at 6pm and there were two other tables but otherwise empty. The waitress was helpful but standoffish enough that I didn't mind.

I ordered the half soup and sandwich combo for $22 and asked for the BLT but that only comes in a whole sandwich. In retrospect, I should've just ordered that but I had soup stuck on my mind.

I settled for a half pastrami and matzo ball soup. The soup was massive, broth delicious and flavorful, and the matzo ball was soooo good. The sandwich wasn't really my thing, but I added enough brown mustard and slaw to make it taste good.

If you're into piled high meat, then go to Sarge's. I'm the type who removes most of the meat, which is exactly what I did here. On the side was creamy sweet coleslaw with a dill and sour pickle. I topped my Sammy with loads of mustard and slaw which was perfect.
