I'm surprised this place has a low Yelp rating. I was here for lunch today.
(+) It was pretty empty, only 2 tables were occupied.
(+) We went a la carte because we only had about 30 minutes to eat. The lunch menu was great, we got 3 maki rolls for $13.75, kalbi beef bento for $12.75, and sashimi for $2 per piece.
(+) The sashimi was pretty fresh.
(-) The interior was nice but I would appreciate some music? It was too quiet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 18, 2024
I started the New Year with AYCE Buffet in Elmhurst. I ordered the bento box and sashimi Platter for my parents for Christmas, and they loved it. Therefore, I might as well give it a try.
When I arrived it was cold and not crowded. The staff asked if I wanted a la carte or AYCE. Obviously, I chose AYCE. I was seated and given four sheets of items to check off on to start. There were some fair stipulations, such as the 90-minute time limit, fee for leftovers, and from the sashimi appetizer section; they only allowed 1 item from that list to order per person.
The food was good, and sashimi is worth getting. The only drawback is that I don't have control of the quantity of the items ordered. As a result, I got full quickly, which may have been a blessing because they regulate and honor that 90-minute time frame. It's also a smart business move on their part, so it gets people coming back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Oct 10, 2023
This place is awful. I'm not one to leave one star reviews but my boyfriend and I had unpleasant dinner here at Rakuzen. Food is mediocre, rice is unseasoned, fish is not fresh and taste very fishy.
Do not fall for the AYCE value, it's absolutely not worth it. You're better off getting food at White Castle next door.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Aug 18, 2023
This spot is ok. The staff seems a little rude, the atmosphere can be better. The food is decent... the sushi does give me like a high end cuisine feeling when I'm eating but it's decent. What probably makes it ok is the that they have an all you can eat menu that's pretty long.
Live, laugh, and love.

The restaurant boasts a spacious interior, which is ideal for accommodating larger groups. Unfortunately, the tables were surprisingly sticky, despite the fact that the restaurant was not busy and had just opened. They offer a wide-ranging menu selection, but the price of their AYCE option seems rather overpriced given the underwhelming quality of certain dishes. Additionally, they offer a pricier AYCE menu that includes sashimi, but it would be preferable to visit an authentic sushi restaurant for a better experience.
For our initial order, we chose dishes such as salmon sushi, beef kalbi, harumaki, and shrimp tempura. We ended up placing a few more orders afterward. Overall, the quality of the food does not meet the price point compared to other AYCE restaurants in the area.
The server's behavior was particularly bothersome. They repeatedly used phrases like "make sure you finish it" and "that's a large portion" every time we placed an order, as if warning us. Moreover, they seemed unhappy whenever we requested more food, and their watchful gaze made us feel uncomfortable, as if we were being closely monitored by a hawk.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jenny T.Manhattan, NY4675Feb 18, 2023
This place is dirty... the sashimi quality is not fresh and not meet the standard. Not to mention the way they cut the sashimi, looks like a child cut it. Lastly, I did Not even order much food but the quality is so bad that I really can Not eat it so I had 3 rolls left over however, they want to charge me an extra $10 for that .. I only ordered 5 roll all together for 2 people which honestly that was not a lot for all you can eat.
I don't recommend this place to any of my friends nor families. In addition, I vomited 2x when I got home.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ivan T.Queens, Queens, NY18936Jan 9, 2024
Bad food and the fish are not fresh, you should go to Tomo Sushi. The price is cheaper and the fish tastes better

I get delivery here all the time. Portions are filling and the food never tasted bad to me. They're quick but sometimes they forget things or the order is a little wrong. They have different Asian food and good combos. I've never eaten in the restaurant before.

I absolutely love this place. They have an all you can eat option where you get a huge variety of dishes.
Their rock shrimp is absolutely delicious along with their kani and seaweed salad.
Not only do the have different hand rolls and sushi, they also have teriyaki and dumplings, etc. They also serve you a complimentary hot tea which goes perfect with the food.
Their food is always fresh and their service is extremely quick. As soon as you finish your dish, they are making room on the table for your next dish.
Side note: make sure you consume everything you order since they will charge you if you are wasteful.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
