Mona Issa Chiropractic and Wellness Center

A fantastic first impression!

My shoulders & back have been out of whack for a while, so a friend with much more severe back problems than myself recommended I go to Mona Issa to get everything straightened out. (Chiropractic pun.)

I was expecting a typical private practice, but when I got there, I was confused and thought I had wandered into a Pier One. The place feels more like a spa. Benches along the walls were covered in bohemian style pillows, the lights are a little dimmed and relaxing, rhythmic music follows you throughout the office.

I filled out the proper paperwork and gave the girl at the front desk my insurance info. Then, I went into Dr. Issa's office for a consultation. She was very friendly yet professional and thorough. No white labcoats here - she had a nose ring, long wavy hair and flowy, embellished clothes reminiscent of a hippie, except with good hygiene.

I did a variety of range of motion tests followed by a physical exam of my spine on one of those chiropractic tables (where you feel like you're sticking your face between SpongeBob Squarepants' butt cheeks) and a posture analysis with this giant wooden thing that looks like an abacus without the wooden beads. We finished up with a few x-rays.

After meeting with Dr. Issa I was led to the first treatment room by a gentle assistant named Natalie. I was instructed to lay facedown on another chiro-table while some electrodes were strategically placed on my shoulders. It felt like a big, electric koala had curled up for a nap on my upper back as the electrical stims and heated blanket worked their magic. Next I got to spend some time on the traction table, which is like an amplified version of those massage chairs at nail salons and malls, and feels a lot like crowdsurfing.

On the way out, I was surprised to see another work-friend who has been coming to Mona Issa for months after a car accident. This place is much more popular than I had anticipated.

I noticed a huge difference in my shoulders. Walking back to work it felt like lots of the gravity-fighting tension had been released and they dropped down a few inches. (It wasn't a just placebo effect because my bra straps were now a lot looser than before my appointment.)

I can't wait to continue my treatment here. They offer much more than your typical back-cracking including massage therapy, acupuncture, detox, hypnotherapy, Chinese herbal medicine and more.

I used to suffer from really bad chest and neck pains. Sometimes my neck would completely lock up! Mona has an amazing practice, and office. She really cares about helping you feel better. She can always take you if you're having an emergency, and is open late to accomodate working schedules.

I've been to a few other chiropractors, but I have never been to one that focuses on your whole body, not just your spine.

There is a super sweet receptionist, and the decor is warm and welcoming. While waiting to see dr. issa you can get a massage and therapies that relieve all your stress and worries. You leave all your tension and anxiety behind. I always feel 2 feet taller when I walk out of there! You go in broken and come out with a smile on your face. It's like getting a tune up for your body!

I was almost completely immobile and in tremendous pain from a long-standing condition yesterday, couldn't bend over or move freely and hardly walk, and your guy got me up and moving and totally pain free, rest of the day and felt great the next day, it's practically a miracle. Thank you!!

Nothing relaxes me like one of Dr Karim's adjustments! They're magical. The tension just disappears. Had never tried chiro before but now I'm sold. The office is calm and zen-like and conveniently located on Lincoln Rd.

Terrific! Thorough, professional, personal service reasonably priced. Fabulous adjustment- my neck and back feel super. Dr pearl was excellent, the therapy before worked well to loosen me up for the adjustment and the entire staff was knowledgeable and courteous. A find in south beach!
