Nice place to shop and they had everything I needed to start with.
The lady that helped me was so amazing and beautiful might I add.
She knew exactly what she was doing and what time it was. I think her name was beatrice. Well here's my number that Beatrice. Should have left for her. 336-567-3633Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A.A. O.Winston Salem, NC056May 3, 2020
I have never had a GOOD experience at the Jo-Ann's store in Winston-Salem, but there are several BAD experiences that stand out. When I first moved to Winston in 2013, I checked online reviews of local fabric stores. Jo-Ann's were so bad that I completely discounted them until Hancock's closed. Though I cannot remember the particulars, on my first visit I got to the cash register, only to have the very unpleasant cashier make up rules on the spot about a sale that were not in writing anywhere because believe me, I looked. Fast forward to the pandemic, and I needed some supplies for masks. I am high risk for Covid, so I thought I would take advantage of the newly available curbside pick up. I spent a good bit of time shopping, which is not easy from the app. When I arrived, I was told that they could not bring the order out to me because it was within an hour of closing. Again, I reread through everything, and there was NOTHING that presented that qualifier. I swore I would never shop there again, but supplies are running short, and I needed something specific. So again, I placed an order, this time arriving midday. I called, letting the phone ring until Verizon hung it up. I called again, still no answer. So once again I left without the items I needed and spent time shopping for. I do not know what is going on at that store, but it certainly is not good customer service.

Alas and alack, I have a love-hate relationship with this store. First of all, while I will be picky here because makers gotta make and we have craft store standards, understand that I love it dearly and I'm a frequent flier. Let's start with the thing that always gets me in trouble (I know it's not easily fixed, but people have to know), parking. JoAnn's needs more parking at this location. Also, they don't have a lot of handicap spaces and y'all know my soapbox on that. Secondly, this Jo-Ann's does not have enough buggies (carts, wheeled holders of the things) and that might be intentional because the aisles are one way streets. The clearance aisle in the back is always such a hot mess that one can't even find a good deal without a shovel. The employees are generally themselves, sewers, stitchers and crafters and I have always found them to be knowledgeable. This JoAnn's has a fairly decent supply of Simplicity Vintage items which are the love of my life. They have classes, including kid classes, available to the public for anyone who was not privileged to be raised by a maker. Also, their cashiers are incredibly patient with coupon people which this coupon people appreciates. I'm still offended that I can never find Fiskars kid scissors for the maker I'm raising, but there is always the next sale. And I'll be there.

This is a run-of-the-mill JoAnn Fabric store. I have visited maybe 10 times so far and each visit was neither spectacular or terrible.
Most times I visit this store for fabric supplies. The selection is fair; do not expect high end/ high quality fabric. One recent time when I bought three clothing patterns that were on sale, the sales clerk didn't notice that their computers were not updated regarding the sale and I would have been charged $45 rather than the sale price total of $9. Be on your toes about sale prices! I don't blame the person working there as this is not a store known for being tech savy. Still, know that sometimes their checkout computers are off.
One nice section of JoAnn's is their upholstery fabric wall in the far back of the store. Use one of the perpetual 40% off coupons, and you will get a fair price for your decorating materials.
The staff vary in their personalities. I suspect staff grumpiness is proportional to how long they worked there. When I get fabrics cut, a lot of the workers will make nice small talk and ask about my project or talk about what crafting they like to do. I am sure that if you have a question and ask nicely, they will try there best to help.
All in all, there are limited places to get fabric in Winston Salem, and this JoAnn store is fine for basic needs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily B.Winston-Salem, NC075Apr 12, 2019
Awful customer service! Extremely disappointed! I came here in search of a specific fabric, I asked the worker named Gae where it would be and she said "we don't help look for fabrics." Sad to say I won't be coming back to this rundown place.

Ehh to me this is one of the least friendly JoAnn's that I have been too. It is also pretty small and outdated compared to others that I have been to. They have all the basics that you would need though and their fabric selection is pretty decent. I would suggest downloading the mobile app since they always have at least one 40% off coupon on it. Although it is only for regular priced items and the way their store model works practically everything is on sale. If I am not looking for fabric and I am in Winston-Salem I would rather go to Micheal's.

The low cost of fabrics is not worth shopping here. Not enough workers to adequately help customers. Extremely long lines to check out. Stood in line for 20 minutes while one person checked out with no other associates in site to assist. Recommend Village Fabric or Knit One Smock Too instead which have excellent customer service and great fabric.

It's ok. Some of the customer service is really nice but some is downright terrible. It is usually well stocked and organized. I wish they kept coupons at the door like others we've been to but I suspect that is a corporate decision.

I am a frequent customer of JOANN fabrics and run a small business. With this being said this JOANNs is losing my business fast. The customer service is TERRIBLE. They can't even tell me when products will be available or look if they have it in stock. I am so displeased. Don't go here. Order from Mood or shop local. JOANNs corporate please fix this store.

I shopped there today. Found what I was looking for and the store is well stocked, clean etc. However, the lady who cut my fabric evidently was having a super tuff day, grumpy lousy attitude . We all have those days but as a customer, I really just wanted to leave. The checkout people were very nice. I will probably go back some time in the future but you can bet I will avoid the grumpy gal. Fabric stores are few and far between in my area . I drove 45 minutes to make this purchase and deal with a sour attitude. Not going to rush there again!
