Each time I have come Mike has been so kind in explaining things to me especially when my husband was deployed and we were having car issues.
If you need work done to your vehicle do stop by and talk to Mike he will take care of you without a doubt.
Unlike a lot of other places who will tell you this and that, you will NOT get that from Mike and his establishment ..you will get upfront information so you know what is going on with your vehicle.
So, remember swing by and see Mike! You won't regret stopping here and your vehicle will thank you as well as your handbag/wallet!
I give Indian River Auto & Transmission Repair five golden wrenches !!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Melissa G.Norfolk, VA01Mar 17, 2024
I am not one to slander a business, but someone has to say the TRUTH.
BEWARE! This place will "diagnose" your vehicle as a transmission issue 95% of the time. God forbid you don't have an actual transmission issue. They will sell you a transmission and replace whatever is actually wrong, like a wheel bearing. They will pull and paint your trans to make it look "new" and then not honor the warranty when they mess up the install that should've NEVER been done. I've seen employees taking shots on the clock. The shop is forever hotboxed with weed and there was a guy who used to do heroine in customer cars then pass out in their car on the side of the road by the wawa.
The owner has a problem pulling guns on his employees and customers in his bouts fit of rage. The racial slurs are outrageous!
I brought my 2000 Jeep Grand cherokee in a couple years back & I'm surprised this place is still standing. I supplied the front axles, tie rods, steering damper, and control arms. When. I got my vehicle back after 2 weeks of them having it, I couldn't get down Indian River road without the jeep acting like she was going to flip over with every bump. I came directly back to the shop. The manager got under my truck & said everything was tight. There were no issues. I pointed out that there was no bolt holding the damper. The manager offered me a zip tie until he could fit me in the next week to take a look. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the left front axle nut was not tight. Only 2 lug nuts were tight on the right front tire. They left the hook that holds the calipers back attached to my left front shock. The clanking noise drove me bonkers.I thought that since it was familiar & I had known people who worked there, & at one point I worked there, I wouldn't get screwed. I never got a refund. I had to take my vehicle somewhere else to get fixed properly. Be weary of this place.
If you don't know much about vehicles, they will rob you.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

As I said on the Google review you cut and pasted, your divorce with one of our employees has nothing to do with our business. You need help amd we pray you receive it. We will be going to the court house to file against you. We request you keep your relationship issues between yourself and your ex and not drag our business into your hatred

Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the extraordinary service that the techs at Indian River Auto performed on my 2003 Honda civic ex. To be honest, I thought that there was no more life for my car after blowing the engine. However, as soon as the car arrived on site, the team immediately performed diagnostics to determine the issues of my car, keeping me informed every step of the way about the status of my car. They had what I consider as a huge task of resuscitating my car with the installation of a new engine along with a few other issues that needed to be addressed. And you know what? THEY DELIVERED!!! My car is running so smooth now, as if it was fresh off a new car lot! This place consists of a team of highly trained professionals, and I would recommend ANYONE to bring their vehicle here for service. THANKS Indian River Auto for breathing new life into my car!

I am from Rhode Island and my 22 year daughter's car was towed into them for as it needed a new starter.
I new starter for her car goes from $175 to $225 depending where you look and I am sure they get it cheaper than that being a business.
They charged my daughter $481 for the starter.
As bad as that was they charged 4 hours labor at $185 per hour.
My mechanic in RI told me it is roughly a 30 minute job, but he would charge a 1 hour minimum which is $90 per hour.
I hope when they or their kids go on a trip, that they break down and get the same great treatment that they gave my daughter.
These people are criminals.
Never ever go here for anything.

DO NOT COME HERE! Called and asked if they were willing to take on an overhaul project for my 94 f-150, MIKE said "absolutely bring it on in". fast forward 1.5 years and i have had to take it back to them probably 8 times... maybe more (engine oil leaks, tranny leaks, didn't install valve covers i wanted, i basically got the truck back the same, just with a lift on it and random spray paint), to have them go back in the truck and try and do a proper job. EXMPL: The first time i picked the truck up i still had a blown u-joint and bearing in my front left axle, it literally sounded like a tank going down the street (obviously did not op-test the truck before handing it over). took them about 2-3 months to fix that. they cracked my frame rail when re-installing my steering gear, they said they would weld the frame and re-enforce it, after arguing me there was no way they broke it (i didn't even have the truck in my possession). come to find out it never got welded! This place is a joke, the mechanics they have are extremely rough around the edges, and i would be surprised if they had any real certifications. I don't even want to say how much money i dumped into this sorry excuse for an auto shop. OH BTW, they plugged up my Vacuum EGR lines so my truck wouldn't throw any more codes (ILLEGAL), i caught them red handed, then they said it was part of an EGR delete that i never asked for (also ILLEGAL). they spray painted my old valve covers that, even though i had new ones, the over spray was all over the engine compartment. I paid for a re-man tranny and i still had the same tranny in the truck with all the same problems from when i brought it in. I paid for a complete engine overhaul and i think all they did was replace my oil pan (for a second time, the first time they just replaced the gasket and left the rusted thru pan on it which immediately leaked when i brought it home one of the times) they installed my radiator hoses improperly, which caused overheating. I really feel like i should sue this place rather than leave an honest review.

Took my car in to check my engine and they called and told me my car needed a major overhaul and it would cost me $1700 dollars. I said wow that's cheaper than getting a engine so I said cool, fix it. Later on they called and asked me did someone mess with my engine and I said no so she said (the lady who answers the phone) that I needed some type of cover for another 600 dollars. I paid these scammers 2300 dollars. Happy to get my car back but when I got in the car it was on a/c and blowing hot air. Air was working fine when I dropped it off. Took it back and this same lady told me that they must have forgot to put Freon back in it so he would. Later the mechanic come out and tells me I have a leak I need a sensor that will cost another 600 dollars. I encourage no one to take there car to these scammers. They will see me in cout and if I could give them a zero I would. Karen Manley is my name

My transmission was having issues (2011 Chevy cruise) and they got me in quick and the person who took care of my car (Mike) was super awesome. Got back to me quick and was on top of finding the issue to my car. Got it fixed quick with a good price (thought it would be at least a month but was closer to a week and a half) and was super friendly!
