This clinic gave me my life back 30 years ago and I've been nothing but pleased with their holistic, natural, preventative approach to medicine, ever since. They have kept me healthy and rejuvenated. They don't just pass out prescriptions (put a bandaid on a condition) they get to the root cause of your symptoms, treat them and cure you. This personable, polite, professional concierge practice allows them to spend time with their patients and makes you feel like your the only one. They also have a compounding pharmacy and other services on site, which is convenient.

Sad to say that I felt very taken by this business. I was very excited about their motto that for patients with hypothyroidism and hashimotos, they don't look at just the bloodwork, but that they look at how you feel, what your symptoms are. I spent the first 3 months of my time with Hotze getting worse and worse... my friends and family noticed that I was not myself, I had NO energy. I sent several messages to my nurse practitioner that I was feeling less energy and feeling terrible. The only way she addressed it was had different nurses call me back every time and tell me to up the dosage of the medication she put me on initially. It took my blood work at the third month for the nurse practitioner to tell me we needed to change my medicine. So I started taking something different and eventually felt better, but not any better than I was before I started the program, when I was under a general endocrinologist.
I spent several thousand dollars on the program and on "vitamins" at hotze. After a year i had no increase in energy, feeling lethargic, and a heavier weight than when I started. I cancelled my annual checkup and left a message that the program didn't work for me. I never got a follow up call or an apology, no effort from them whatsoever. I wouldn't refer anyone to this program.
PS. After my first 3 months and the disappointment of being on the wrong medication for so long, I called and spoke with Dr Hotze himself. He patronized me like it was my fault, like I needed to put the work in myself. I told him that I followed every instruction to a T, including the vitamins, the medicine, the meal program. All I got was a small discount on one month supply of thyroid medication although no acknowledgment or accountability of my decline.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Kapua H.SoMa, San Francisco, CA03Apr 10, 2022
I had symptoms of profound fatigue and digestive disorders but the most bothersome was that my eyes and face would swell and redden almost every time I ate. I eventually stopped eating everything but cruciferous vegetables and oddly, peanut butter. My doctor couldn't help me so he referred me to an allergist and an endocrinologist but it was a dead end. I read Suzanne Sommers book and in addition researched some of the names in her book. I researched Dr. Hotze and was quite impressed with his Bio and his cutting edge approach to treating thyroid disease. I booked my trip to Houston from California soon after. Long story short, Dr. Sheridan diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia and Hypothyroidism and Yeast overgrowth. The best part is that it's been over ten years and those horrific symptoms never came back. God bless Dr. Hotze, Dr. Sheridan, and the Hotze Staff for giving me my life back!

My first consultation with the Hotze clinic I paid $5000 to be part of their organization and get care from Dr. Hotze.
My last visit was on 2015 and now that it's been four years they say that they want me to pay another $5000 and go through a new patient orientation.
They didn't disclose this to me after paying my initial $5000 that it had a time limit on it.
All I wanted was for them to call in a prescription.
I wouldn't mind paying for an office visit and blood test.
Them asking me to pay $5,000 again is shameful.
They didn't disclose this to me at the first visit, before I payed.
The lady on the phone said they have plenty of people that pay again. Not me!
I would NOT do business with these people again. All radio hype and to much over charging.

The Hotze branded Armour thyroid they put me on caused even further of a thyroid autoimmune attack. The doctor there couldn't explain it and just said they had never seen someone have a reaction to their medication. I had swelling in my thyroid, causing swelling in my throat. Nothing was done to test for or help what was going on even though it started the first day I took the Armour. I had to follow up with my endocrinologist and get my TSH levels back down back being on Levothyroxine, lab draws twice every month, and still have swelling. Haven't heard from the practice.
I also felt very scammed, the cost going in is outrageous and for the lack of service and healing provided, it is not worth it.
If you have Hashimotos be cautious about using Armour Thyroid and about coming here.
Recommend a practice that looks at all things thyroid including gut and root causes, which Hotze Health and Wellness does not do.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 1Business owner information

Hello L. R.,
You are correct. We are a fee for service practice. Unfortunately, insurance companies do not cover this type of life saving, well-care along with natural hormones. I assure you, if they did, we would be in a better position to rethink this policy.
The approximate costs of supplements and prescriptions are discussed during your initial call. Because your program is custom tailored to your needs there is no way to precisely predict the costs before you've visited with your provider. If we need to make adjustments to your supplements to better control your costs, I could certainly assist you.
Endocrinologists are certainly capable of prescribing thyroid medication; however, often choose not to do so unless a patient can demonstrate need for such therapy based upon lab work alone. In addition, many main stream physicians deny yeast overgrowth even exists, much less diagnose and treat yeast.
If I can be of service to you please call my direct number: 281-698-8756.
Respectfully,

Director of Quality AssuranceFeb 4, 2017Previous reviewThey recommend along the same treatment line for each person with some slight variations. It's very nice but the price is not very straight forward and you just keep adding things on including vitamins, prescriptions, and EKG with each stop they have you make. I'm just getting started in the routine so will update the review based on how that goes.
Update: don't recommend. The Armour thyroid they put me on caused even further of an autoimmune attack. The doctors and nurses couldn't explain it and said they had never seen someone have a reaction to their medication. I got out of the program. - Tgirl C.Houston, TX01014Jan 31, 2019
I have been a patient here for over 5 years. I was in severe pain with IC for 2 years. No Dr or specialist could help me. In fact dr's told me I'd live that way for the rest of my life. Thankfully I discovered this clinic. They are wonderful, very knowledgeable and caring. They gave me not only my health back but gave me my life back. I am almost 50 and feel better than ever! I don't know what I would have done without them!

Charged way too much, told I had low thyroid and lacked vitamins all within a few minutes of meeting me. No lab work to determine this. Another person comes in to give me a list of about 10 pills to take and buy at their pharmacy. Little did I know that vitamins can be purchased elsewhere for 1/3 of the price. Still never felt better.

Dr. Ellsworth has been my doctor for over a year now. I went in with extreme fatigue, brain fog, and a few other issues. At the Hotze Health and Wellness Center, they take time with you and listen which is so important. I've had great results too. I feel better than I have in a about 4 years!

I began seeing Hotze more than 15 years ago and they saved my life. I was so tired I was falling asleep taking my daughter to school. No energy, brain fog, very typical things they would see in patients. My trouble didn't start until a huge dose of antibiotics set off an autoimmune storm in my body. I have hashimoto's and did fine on armour thyroid. They had me see a new NP (Angelica) and she just started adding multiple things at once and everytime I would call she would add more prescriptions and supplements and I just kept getting worse. I did spend a fortune and have stopped seeing them. I went to a registered dietician and had food sensitivity testing done as well as understanding certain foods that are bad for anyone with hashimoto's. I am finally getting better after two years of so much pain throughout my body that I thought I had either rhuematoid arthritis or fibromyalgia to the point of even considering taking disability. I think they have lost whatever they had going for them in the beginning. I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Hotze. It is ashame that it costs so much and results may not be good results.
Very much overpriced.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Leigh Ann T.Washington Ave./ Memorial Park, Houston, TX131111Mar 7, 2018
I have had such an amazing experience at Hotze Health and Wellness Center. My PA, Angelica spent so much time with me and discussed natural alternatives to my health, such as vitamins, minerals, and food. No other doctor has ever done that for me, ever! Doctors know nothing about food or vitamins as medicine bc they only push prescription drugs. I've had incredible improvements in my health and my general well-being has skyrocketed since becoming a guest here. Highly recommend!!
