Growing up in Ewa Beach, community park wasn't a go to place. Seems like that hasn't changed over the years.
Dropped by with a friend to show her around seeing as she lives up the road in Ewa Gentry and there was a total of four people on the sand, two people playing hoops and a few loitering around the covered patio area.
The whole park is clean - the grassy field or picnic/play area, the beach as well as the rest of the grounds. Nice if you want some sun or ocean time less the crowds, the hassle of finding parking or the commute to those other more popular beaches.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Johnelle P.Waco, TX263292519May 16, 2014Updated review
It has been almost 2 years since I first wrote about this park. During those 2 years the state fixed up the park. The old playground that was screaming lawsuits towards the state was completely torn out and was replaced with a rope climbing thing. My daughter (Abira) calls it her spider home lol. The ground is really nice, no crazy holes.
The grassy area is still just as good as it was the first time around :)
I don't know what caused the change, but it's like all of the people that go to the park now actually take responsibility for their children. I really like that change.
The tennis court is still not really being used when I go there. It's still in good shape :)
I REALLY WISH THE SKATE PARK PART WAS FIXED UP. I don't know why they won't fix it. They fixed almost everything else.
I definitely would recommend bringing kids here to play on that spider home thing if you feel your child is able to climb around safely.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Aug 13, 2012Previous reviewThis has to be one of the worst parks to take your child to.
The playground is in SUCH BAD SHAPE, I highly urge you parents to keep your children off it. Can we say 'high susceptibility to contracting tetanus'?? Yeah. No.
The grassy area itself isn't all that bad. There's lots of space for your children to run around and play with a ball.
The problem is the kids. There's so many people there, and many of the kids (not all) are so rude and the worst part is that the parents of those rude kids don't correct their rude behavior or will even go as far as to justify and ENCOURAGE their behaviors! Bad parenting.
The basketball court seems to always be full of people who don't really pay attention to the little ones in there. There's always some kind of collision between teen/adult and toddler. I refuse to let my ladylove go in there.
The tennis court is full of people that don't play tennis. I don't really know what they're doing in there. But it's not anything sports related.
There's a skate park right along with it, and I actually see people enjoying themselves in there. I just wish it were more updated.
The building used to hold after school activities when I was in elementary, I don't know what it's like now. I remember it having air conditioning and a water fountain that had cold water. Mmmm, that was great in hot hot Ewa Beach.
Overall, I would only come here if I were just passing through..which is like, never. LOL.
Ehh, I won't say never. Abira really does like to play ball and it does have a lot of open space...bleh. We'll see how I feel when the time comes. - Richard H.Ewa Beach, HI354921Sep 24, 2013
The community park is a nice place to go during the day with kids. Some shady bench areas with trees so you wont be blasted with sun rays. A basketball, volleyball and tennis court included. A skate park as well. And a baseball field. a new playground for kids to play on and a community center with different kinds of activities and after school programs. Overall a good place to go if you are a resident in the ewa region.
