I called on a Monday and they came out earlier then scheduled on the following day to diagnose the problem, order the part, retrieve the part, drive back and replace the part!

The customer service person was horrible disrespectful and completely unresponsive to my needs.
The service person did not complete the repair nor did he have his own ladder to reach our ac unit and when we asked to come back the following day they said there was no availability. When they finally arrived
To continue the repair 2 days later they said it we needed a whole new unit for $4800 that is only 1 1/2 years old.
We got a second opinion from another company and it turned out to be the Freon. I would not recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maureen M.Philadelphia, PA04Aug 23, 2023Updated review
Good afternoon. I just felt the need to post this review about Energy Star Services! They are one of the most professional and courteous company to deal with and are up to date with the latest items. We had a Single Zone Ductless system installed and we could not be happier. We also own a second home and we hired them to install a completely new heating and central ac system. I would highly recommend this company to do the work!

I called in the morning and received a call back almost immediately and these guys worked very hard during the heat wave to get our AC back up and running. I would definitely recommend.

As other reviews have mentioned, I witnessed one of their vehicles driving recklessly traveling 100mph on the highway while weaving in and out of traffic and nearly running a vehicle off the road. It's only a matter of time before they kill someone. The driver caught me taking a picture (to report to the police) and made sexually explicit gestures at me. Not someone I would trust in my home!

All I can say is I should have read the reviews before doing business with Energy-Star! While Josh seemed friendly and knowledgeable when he came for the estimate (to install a whole-house generator), the company has been very difficult since.
We made a large deposit, for 50% of the full price, back in mid-September, and were told the generator would be here in 4-6 weeks and installed soon after. WE had to call them in late October to ask about the status. They told us it would be here soon. We called two weeks later - same thing. We called again late November and were told it would be here early December. Then mid-December, same thing. At this point I truly thought (and am still not sure) that the whole company was a con.
Yes, I know that items are in short supply lately, but there are two local businesses that our neighbors used who have generators in stock (and have been installed already). Also, why did I have to continuously follow up with them? Are they even trying to get their supplier to get the product to them? Are they searching for alternatives? We certainly are not paying a low price - we are paying exactly what our neighbors paid to get theirs installed in a couple of weeks.
Finally, on Dec 20 (over 3 months after the deposit was paid) we called them to say we wanted a refund so we can go with a different company who can install the generator right away. They were belligerent in their response - saying we'd have to pay fees and wouldn't get a full refund - and that we'd have to drive to their office and drop off our notice to cancel the order (email somehow doesn't suffice - I'll give them a break on this since it's probably based on some outdated PA law).
In my latest email I told them they have until Jan 7th (it will be 16 weeks since we signed the contract) and at that time we'll drop off a cancelation letter and expect a full refund. If the generator comes in before then we hope they can install it quickly.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE (at least not a whole house generator). They are not customer-focused at all! And I'm not sure they ever intended to get us a generator - they have quite a bit of our money - and we have absolutely nothing - and apparently no matter how long we wait we will get the deposit back-- minus fees!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Julie, We apologize and understand your concerns but we do not manufacture the generators. We made you aware that it was a MINIMUM of 4-6 weeks. The delay is not on our end. We continuously call to follow up with the manufacture but if it's not available how can we do the install. We would've gladly installed it if we had the generator. We are giving a refund minus the cancellation and restocking fees. Unfortunately, as everyone knows and I'm sure you are aware that there's a shortage of everything. We apologize again for this and again it's not our fault and there's a delay from the manufacturer. We would appreciate it if you would refrain from making any further negative comments and turning potential customers away due to unforeseen circumstances. Thanks in advance.

This morning (7:03 AM) one of their drivers almost pushed me off the road. I was getting off of 476 S to get onto 276E going toward New Jersey. I was doing 65mph when one of their vans came up so close I could not see their Bumper. When I started to get off my exit. He passed me on the left side on a single lane exit to just get in front of with cars backed up. If I would have touched my brakes when he was behind me there we both would have wrecked. I am not the only person to make a post about their drivers driving recklessly.

This is the absolute worst company I've had to deal with. I do not over exaggerate when I say it took me months to get my AC unit fixed.
I must've explained the problem 12 times to 5 different people.
Sometimes the person who was coming out wouldn't show. Sometimes they would show but not be prepared to do anything. Just stopped by to look. I would completely reexplain the problem. Show them where everything is again. Let them know what the last guy tried. Then they would disappear for a few days. Sometimes you'd get the same technician back but still have to reshow where everything was located.
One guy even took the outside unit apart and left part of it just out on top of the unit. He was surprised to return a few days later and find it wasn't where he'd left it. So since he couldn't find it he just left. We had two bad storms and it was a small plastic piece. So of course it didn't stay. I found it in the drive way and called him to come back. He said he had to go to another job.
When I finally spoke to the manager(which wasn't easy to get ahold of) the part was being ordered and we were getting a AC unit to hold us over free of charge. So they brought in a small floor unit that was exactly like one we already had that I explained we couldn't use. It required running a few extension cords from the factory. Also it didn't have enough power to cool the room. So I go to find extensions to show the guy. While I'm away he just puts it in the middle of the room and leaves.
Also this loaner unit was supposed to be brought several times. It just kept not showing up.
We spent most of the summer in a sauna. I let my designers work from home or other parts of the building so they weren't miserable.
I do not understand how this company stays in business if this is how they take care of all their customers.
Upper management is completely inept. They either dodge calls from upset customers or honestly don't come in for entire weeks at a time.
So after all that negative I will say one positive thing. The technicians were cool and I do think the unit had a manufacturers defect. I don't think the best tech could've fixed it. Maybe upper management was pressing them to find a fix. I really can't say.
What I can say is that they are currently doing the same thing with our secondary building. Thank goodness it's not me dealing with them this time. If they hadn't already started this job I'm sure they would've been dropped.
Time to go back to our old crew.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm a tenant where a gas heater was installed 10/2020 (3 unit apartment). The heat in our apartment from the get go was an issue; this was worked out about 1-2 month later after constant complaints. This heating season, our apartment has no heat on the left side the the building. This started in 11/2021, 2 times techs were out to bleed the radiators, this did not help. We still do not have heat on the left side of the building, the company knows it's their issue, they have advised the landlord that this is "peak" season, so this will not be looked at until maybe March 2022. Be aware, this company wants the sale, after the sale, if there are issues, good luck in resolving.

Dear Tenant, there's no issue with the boiler we installed or anything with the service we provided. The issue is with your existing interior piping for which we are not responsible for. The install does not include replacing existing piping. It states on the contract "Not responsible for existing piping" which you are probably not aware of because you are the tenant and your landlord signed the contract. The other units have heat. We would appreciate it if you would refrain from criticizing our company and turning potential clients from our business due to something we are not responsible for. Thanks in advance.

I honestly cannot speak for the quality of work but more than once I've witnessed their vans driving recklessly on the highway and putting others in danger (aggressive driving, break checking, etc). Off-putting.
