I had a wonderful experience at Braindrops for two piercings.

      1) I checked in at the counter and the front desk receptionist was extremely helpful. She priced out my piercings and jewelry in case I wanted to go with something cheaper. For two gold piercings and the cost of piercing it was $175.

      2) my piercer (name escapes me) calmed me down because I started panicking for no reason. He let me reposition them and it was go time! It took about 5 minutes once we started and they looked amazing.

Overall I was super impressed with the hygiene and professionalism of Braindrops. My piercings are healing really well and I couldn't be happier!

Update: I just received the package for the earring front replacement. I appreciate they finally sent that out. I'm sure something has gone down during this time of closing - but from the customers point of view it's still very upsetting to be left in the dark with no response in a months time.

I will need to also find a new place to fix the studs as they're longer and meant for newly pierced ears - the receptionist explained I should have come in 4-8 weeks after to get them shorter end so they don't slide around so much once my ears healed.

      Original Review:

I went in to have 1 ear pierced and one previous piercing re-stretched. The piercing experience was good, everything was clean and done well. My issue is with the jewelry and customer service after.

My very expensive earing broke within 12 days of wear. I immediately took a photo of remaining back post in my ear missing the front design and emailed them. They quickly responded that they would send a replacement and asked for my mailing address. Great - accept then I never heard from them again. This was well over a month ago. I have followed up several times to no response at all, and have never received the replacement.

I'm incredibly disappointed that I spent money at this merchant instead of another more respectful business in Sf.

Remaining back post and missing front piece that fell out (that's lost forever).

After a few days of gawking over curated ears on Instagram, I decided to take the plunge and add a dalliance of piercings to the pair of lobe piercings I've had since I was 12. I showed Steve, my piercer, a picture of my intended vision for my ear (I took pics of my ears and drew dots and hoops with my phone) and had a discussion with him about my vision and the best approach to do it. He was extremely patient and walked me through all the pros and cons (which I tirelessly asked for) and I felt like he attended to my questions and concerns. We decided on doing three piercings (out of the 8 I wanted) all on my right ear - a conch and 2nd/3rd lobes. Trevor attended to me while I picked out my jewelry, and Steve took time to adjust the markings so we were on the exact same page on where the piercings would appear.

The piercing experience also appears to adhere to surgical standards of hygiene - the jewelry is sterilized in an autoclave and gloves/masks/sanitizer were used during the piercing process. Unlike many other piercing videos I've seen online, I actually was pierced while lying down, and not seated upright. Overall, I had a really pleasant experience. We had a thorough consultation, the procedure went as smoothly and meticulously as could be, and I'm a happy camper with a newly bedazzled ear.

Prices are fair, and posted on their website. I love that transparency and not having to make a dozen awkward phone calls definitely makes Braindrops a top choice for me. I would definitely recommend coming here and the next time I'm in San Francisco, hopefully my right conch is all healed up and I'd be ready to have Steve pierce my left daith.

Added 2nd/3rd lobes and the conch

I've been thinking about getting my second tattoo for a while, but I just didn't know when. Since I'm in SF for the time being, I thought...might as well get it done here.

When you walk in, you would think it's mainly a piercing place with all the jewelry, but they for sure also do tattoos! It's not a huge space, they had only 2 chairs upstairs for tattoos. Looking at the website, there are only 3 tattoo artists.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm as a walk in and it was quite busy. There were a lot of people coming in for piercings and I was the only one waiting to get a tattoo. Bryan was the only tattoo artist working that day and he was kind enough to help me. The entire process from start to finish took about 2.5 hours. I came in around 2pm and waited for about 10-15 minutes until Bryan came out and asked me about my design/ideas. After giving him my ideas, he went to go draft something and that took about 15-20 minutes.

After drafting, going over the design, paperwork, and setting up, it was about 3:20pm by now. The actual tattoo process took about 35 minutes, but it felt like forever because I got it done on my bicep and it was a bit painful.

Overall, my experience was a good one. Bryan took his time on my tattoo and asked beforehand if I wanted any shading done or just line work. I definitely recommend Bryan and this place if you're looking to get a tattoo!

P.S. I was surprised that they are open 7 days a week, because not many places are!

Not completely healed yet, but artwork done by Bryan

As soon as I found out I was going to be traveling to San Francisco for the weekend I knew I wanted a little souvenir to bring home with me. Most people go with coffee cups or Tshirts. I go with piercings. Before my plane had even touched the tarmac I had already researched several piercing places within San Francisco, but I had decided on Braindrops due to their high star rating and number of reviews (4.5 with 258 reviews before mine) and also because their price list is clearly listed online so there's no awkward questioning.

I made it to the shop and looked around for a few minutes before I was greeted (as everyone was helping someone at the time). I spoke to Paul and told him I wanted a helix piercing and he showed me the jewelry (ranging from $30-$50/55 mark and also ranging all over the colour specrum from green to red to silver). I went with a $45 stud which I thought was the perfect size. After filling out the paperwork I was able to chill for a few minutes as Paul sterilized everything.

I was taken to the back room and everything was over in a flash. I had a preconceived notion that a cartilage piercing was really going to hurt, but it was one of my least painful piercings to date. After everything was over Paul and his coworker explained the healing process to me, gave me a printout of after care tips, and a large bag of salt to assist with the healing. Braindrops takes both cash and credit cards (Visa, American Express, Mastercard) and payment is via the square app so tip can be included on the card.

Overall it was a very good experience at a very non-pretentious store. I'm glad I chose Braindrops (and thanks to fellow Acronym members Tyler R. and Anne C. for waiting with me!)

Edit: no surprise to hear you guys closed your doors, after you guys repeatedly wouldn't right the wrongs of your awful piercer.

Don't waste your money here, they charge a premium for piercings that in my experience was done improperly. When I left a review explaining that I spent $500 here for a subpar piercing (that still hasn't healed after 4 months because of how crooked it is) I got a snarky message from the person who runs this yelp, after they deleted my negative review to save face. They said they'd help if I provided a name on the receipt a month ago, then never got back to me. 1/10 for customer service. Attached is a photo of their attitude toward me in the message on here after they deleted my review on two separate occasions.

      BRAINDROP. DROP TOP.

      Lol anyway.

I put yet another hole in my ear. (Sorry, mom)

Thanks to Braindrops, my experience was awesome. I came in with my friends to do a walk-in piercing on my daith (inner ear hook). The staff here are so friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to which helps if you're an anxious first timer or a multi-pierced enthusiast.

I was the latter. This was my 7th piercing so I knew what was coming, but I was still pleasantly surprised about how well it turned out. Krista did an awesome job of making me feel comfortable, asking me if I wanted to change the music, and just giving positive vibes throughout the entire gig. She was awesome. Go see her!

This shop is everything!! I have a few tattoos and this one was by far the best experience I have had yet.
I got a tattoo a week ago by an artist named Stephanie. She is absolutely perfect in every way.
(I feel bad that I've been so busy lately I haven't got to post a review about her yet!)
When arriving to the shop I was super nervous about my tattoo. I have yet to meet Stephanie, spoke to her a few times through email.. followed her on Instagram and saw a lot of her amazing work there.
A few moments later, Stephanie came out from the back with this huge smile on her face and it instantly made me super comfortable. She had already had the flower I had in mind ready for me, but with details that made it more my own. I LOVED that.

Once I picked a size, I was ready.
At this point I was beyond nervous.

She brought me to this adorable room upstairs that was perfectly lit and open, and had a view of San Francisco.
She had me lay down, & we started.

The tattoo took no more than 15 minutes, hurt a bit but Stephanie has this way of talking to you that you instantly relax and almost forget about the pain. She was playing music that I listen to all the time and was humming along with it and it just made everything so calm. I will never go to another artist.

Once the tattoo was done I was absolutely in love with it! (& still am) her line work is amazing! every single detail is perfect. I've had tons of compliments and people asking me where I got it done and it's only been a week!
Thanks again girl!!!! You are thee best!

Had this place bookmarked for a while and was near where I get my haircut so I decided to pop in. It was about time to stretch my ears to a 00 and Tony was terrific.

Then I saw some really cute septum jewelry and scooped up a beautiful yellow gold piece.

      New 00 stretch! Woo!

I came in to initially get my industrial pierced here however after discussing with my friend I decided to get my Tragus. Customer service was good but I knew right when the piecer Tony finished piercing my ears that something was wrong. The placement of my piercing seemed very off and way too close to the side of my head also the back of the jewelry was not placed flat on the back of my ear, it was placed at an uncomfortable angle. A few days after my piercing my ear started to swell and got really hot and irritated so I started to clean it 3 times a day and not touching it. My swollen ear was eating up my piercing and started getting infected. The entire jewelry was lodged into my Tragus and the whole side of my face was swollen. Today I got it checked out at Braindrops again but they couldn't do anything about it because they where moving shops so they sent me to the other shop called rose gold. Braindrops told me all I had to do to fix the problem was to get a longer post for my jewelry however the other shop told me that my ear in general was too small for this piercing and that the piercer wasn't suppose to piece me. The piercer pierced through too much of my tissue and not my cartilage which is why it swelled so much. Im writing this review because I'm just mad that the original piercer still pierced me knowing that my ear wasn't up for that type of piercing. Also getting it removed at rose gold felt like a b*tch and I went through all that pain for nothing but a scar on my ear. #notcute :(

TL;DR: basically Braindrops piercer thought he knew what he was doing but totally missed the placement of my Tragus and wasn't suppose to pierce me because of the anatomy of my ear.

Result of a removed Tragus piercing. Misplaced and way too close to the side of my head.
This jewelry was lodged in my Tragus. It hurt so bad to remove this. Both emotionally and physically. It was cute while it lasted :(
