I have been going to Diana for years and she is the best at invisible bead extensions, balayage and all colors. I change my hair with the seasons and she keeps my hair looking healthy and gorgeous! She is also so fun to chat with-she has the best personality.

This review reflects **Megan Metroyanis** and the salon that supports her. It also reflects my $1100 tape-in hair extensions.
Megan has been consistently... sloppy, messy, rushed, unprofessional, and deviates from technique/protocol in order to save time & make it to happy hour on time!
Tape-in extensions require that you sandwich the hair. Instead of doing "sandwiches", she used single-sided strong adhesive she purchased from amazon and spread the hair pieces throughout the hair. Instead of using the better pieces up top in the crown area, she placed them on the bottom and used the worn out pieces up top. Instead of separating the hair symmetrically with a fine tooth comb, she "guestimated" it & separated with her fingers. Instead of portioning out each "sandwich" and placing the bottom part of the sandwich first, she placed the top part on, caught as many hairs as possible, and then layed the top part on last, almost like what a lint roller does when you're rolling it over your clothes, it catches whatever is in its path. Instead of carefully placing each of the tape pieces together so that one doesn't overlap the other, she just kind of slapped them together, even if they overlapped, who cares was her type of attitude. Her pattern is pretty consistent. And the combination of her improper technique (not the tried & true technique they taught her) and material use (Amazon strong-adhesive instead of the brand's adhesive) caused a host of issues! Finally, she is always always always in a *RUSH* to get somewhere. Happy hour is important, I get it. But when you make your client feel like her hair appt is getting in the way of your happy hour and meeting up with your friends (and is cause for you to not finish her hair, then ya, we have a problem).
Here is a brief overview of one of my last visits at the salon: My appointment was 2pm, I called and let her know I was going to be 15mins late. I arrived at 2:15pm, only to receive an attitude & scolding about being 15mins late. A different client arrived 30mins late, and I didn't hear her hairstylist scold her. Moving on...
It took Megan 2 hours to take my extensions out & re-prepare them for placement. Thats unusual, and later I came to learn why. The one-sided adhesive she bought from Amazon is extremely strong. She used Goo-Gone adhesive remover (you know, the harsh sticky residue remover that they use on machines, cars, tools, and hard surfaces....) to separate the tape-ins, which left clumps of glue in my hair. Naturally, she had to comb it out. She yanked and yanked with a repeated "I'm sorry.." as she combed the glue out. Never had this happen in all of the bump-ups I've had. Why, you ask? Well... refer to the beginning of the review. She didn't follow proper protocol for HotHeads (didn't use their tape, used Amazon-ordered single sided strong adhesive tape from god-knows where), nor the proper training (using her fingers, her quick hair placement method, etc).
She had the salon owner wash my hair as she finished putting tape on the extensions. The residual Goo-gone was still in my hair, and my hair was super smelly and greasy afterward. No clarifying shampoo to remove the grease she just put in, nothing. Saves her $. Just like the times before, she was in a rush to leave to meet with friends. It took her 2 hours just to get the extensions out and prepare them to be put back in. It was about 4:15pm when she started blow-drying my hair. She seemed extremely irritated by now.
By 4:30pm, she was irritated, anxious, and repeating how she needs to leave. I told her I didn't mind coming back a different day, which she declined. I have 3 packs of Hot Heads extensions. Any stylist will tell you, it takes the average hair stylist **45 mins to install 2 packs of hair** the right away. Took Megan 20 mins for 3 packs. Shows you how rushed & sloppy she is. By 4:50pm, she handed me the rest of my hair & said she "doesn't have anymore time, she installed most of the hair, & it wasn't going to make much of a difference installing the rest of the hair that goes on the crown. She did the same thing last time (she was in a rush and had me come back a week later to install the final pieces...).. but this time she outright didn't re-install the pieces she took out, & didn't care. No ziploc bag or anything. I was silent. distraught. She wadded up my hair, I paid her, & I walked out with greasy/smelly hair that was unfinished, & completely sad that what I wanted was completely disregarded. Those pieces may not make much of a difference to her, but it makes a difference to me. Distraught. Disregarded.
I was forgiving & let it go. I kept the appointment I booked months before, but she cancelled 11 days before Christmas, leaving me to scramble for another stylist.
Overall unprofessional, sloppy/messy, rushed, and no regard for what matters to the client. Will leave your hair unfinished if it means making it to happy hour on time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Erika A.Liberty Station, San Diego, CA1604058Aug 28, 2015
Diana has been cutting my hair for about 2yrs and I'm always happy with the results, I also get compliments.
After no haircut for 2yrs to let the hair grow long ~ my 13yr old daughter got her hair cut yesterday and she can't stop looking at her hair because she loves the way her hair feels and looks now.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - RosaLinda R.Solana Beach, CA3531427Nov 20, 2015

Hands down, Diana is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I first moved to San Diego I was in search of a new hair stylist. I spent years wasting my time and money in search of someone I could trust with my hair, who had the expertise worth paying for, and wasn't a complete flake when it came to keeping appointments! After countless unsuccessful attempts in searching, I hit the jackpot when a friend recommended Diana to me.
Diana is beyond just a hair stylist......she is someone you can trust with her judgement and you can depend on with her expertise to know what is best for your hair. Diana takes the care and time she needs to make sure her clients are happy - she goes beyond expectations so that when you leave her chair, you look and feel as beautiful as you should after getting your hair done. Diana has never cancelled an appointment on me, never double booked and has always been flexible to make time in her schedule for me. From the very moment I sat in her chair until now, I have never been happier with my hair.
Whether I am fresh out of the salon chair or even weeks overdue for my standard appointment, strangers continue to come up to me and ask "who does your hair.. and can I have their information??". This proves that I am not the only one who loves the way she does hair!
With all of the above being said, it is clear Diana is a true gem and I am so fortunate to have found her.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Summer Y.San Diego, CA6533Sep 16, 2013
As a blonde, it's scary for me to try new colorists because a bad job can leave you bald! I just had my first cut and color with Gena Watson. She came highly recommended from another client (who has beautiful blonde hair), and I can see why. I was very impressed with her professionalism and the quality of her work (and I have heard from other hair dressers that I am a demanding client). She took the time to listen to what I liked and what I didn't like, and then made suggestions. She was so well-spoken that I went with her recommendation, and I am so glad I did. I LOVE the color and cut!
The salon itself is gorgeous. The shampoo bowls are padded for the neck and there is a foot rest for comfort. You can tell a lot of thought went into making it right for the client, and I appreciate that. I will definitely be back and plan to refer people. Thanks Gena!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ghada A.Mission Valley, San Diego, CA1218Jul 18, 2013

I've been going to Gena Watson for a few years now. She is the best stylist I have ever been to. Gena does the BEST Color, Cut and Blowout. She has lots of experience doing color & cuts. She is very confident & knows what to do with your hair. Her prices are reasonable. It's hard to find a stylist that can do great color on blondes. I get lots of compliments on my hair daily. I highly recommend Gena Watson. She has a great new salon in point loma that she owns with her friend. It's convenient & has lots of parking. I love the decor and it has great energy. Trust your hair to Gena & you'll get lots of compliments too!
As of March 2018 Gena has moved to OB Waves In Salon in Ocean Beach.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A M.San Diego, CA63736Jan 27, 2015Updated review
My review is so overdue! I have lived in San Diego for 11+ years and could never find someone that I trusted with my hair and understood what I wanted to do with it. I am sooo happy I found Diana! She is the first person that I have actually went back to and have continued to see regularly. She has brought me from black to blonde and made sure my hair was healthy the entire process. She also introduced my hair to Olaplex, and has sent me home with a great at home treatment product of theirs as well. Not only is she the best at what she does, but I also love how comfortable I feel when I am there at her salon. She is easy to talk to, funny and easily answers all of my questions. The salon is so beautiful as well and definitely makes you feel pampered just being in there. I have recommended her to many people already and will continue to! Thanks Diana!
