I have wanted to try the pasta happy hour for a while and finally did it on a Sunday; well worth it!
I was surprised that there was no one there, happy hour is only outside. They have pasta happy hour everyday and it's half off all their pastas. We ordered the mafaldine and cavetelli pasta, both were so good! For the price, it was a really good deal. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the flavors were delicious.
This is definitely a new favorite spot and will be returning for pasta happy hour!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

My friends and I have been sharing way too much food reels from IG and decided that it's time to go to New York for our foodies tour. One of them has been dying to try this place out so this was the first restaurant we visited on our trip.
When we got there, we didn't know if it was open because there was a red rope to stop people from going in. Mind you, there was no line so we were kind of confused. A bit later, someone came out and asked for a phone number to enter us into the Resy app. Then she let us in like that of a bouncer at a club. Interesting concept for a restaurant that had no line.
Upon entrance, we noticed that it was a super cozy space with the wall full of dogs in their Royal garbs. Very interesting and cute. It happens to also be Pasta Happy Hour where all pasta were half off! We were excited but the prices after half off wasn't that much less expensive though. It's fine, as long as it tastes good, it's worth the money, we tell ourselves.
We ordered the wings for appetizer and three pastas: gnocchi, agnolotti, and lumache. The wings were a bit charred but my friend really loved it. The pastas were only decent. My favorite was the lumache but the rest was very not exciting.
The service was friendly and the ambiance was unique. Foodwise, though the food looks aesthetically pleasing, I expected it to knock me off my socks but it didn't. There was only one pasta I half enjoyed.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Sorry that we didn’t knock your socks off, pasta happy hour is the only time we offer a la carte as we normally are chefs tasting or pre dice. And due to our intimate space we do have all guest wait at the front so we can make sure we manage the traffic that can come in and out.

My partner and I got off of work earlier than usual and chose to finally try the Bird Dog pasta happy hour, as we had been hearing lots of good things about their pasta.
We showed up and luckily had a very short wait (I think the area was less busy due to the holiday week), and were seated in the outdoor area within 10 minutes. One thing to note, happy hour is only in the outdoor area, but there are plenty of heaters and fans that keep it temperate. Service and staff were friendly.
We put in an order only for the happy hour pastas, which to be frank, were still pretty expensive for what we ended up getting. The garlic scampi spaghetti had very little shrimp on it (I think I only had a couple small chunks of shrimp in a few of my bites), though the flavor was solid. The stuffed shells themselves were pretty good, but the vodka sauce for me was a miss. For those two pastas alone, it came out to $50 without tip, which feels steep for what we actually received.
While it was a fun experience, I don't see us returning, unfortunately.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 2Business owner information

We came for the pasta happy hour and loved it! 10/10 would come back again to try the other pastas. It looks like they switch up the egg yolk with lemon pepper sauce between tagliatelle, bucatini, and spaghetti. When we went it was served with bucatini. It was the perfect balance of flavors. Mafaldine is one of my all time favorite pastas and they did it amazingly well with tender red wine short rib ragu. I'm still dreaming about it. I can't say enough good things about Bird Dog's pasta happy hour. Not only was the food and service wonderful, we only spent $54 between two. And we got hush puppies as an appetizer too!

Phenomenal experience. The person serving us name was Chris and he is the brother of the chef or the owner. He's absolutely great, helped. Recommend some great options for us to eat. We had the Cacho Pepe sauce, spaghetti, and the Buccarini and the pumpkin pasta. We also have the Nashville chicken. Everything was great.
Will come back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

What a fun vibe ! It's tiny inside but solid service, food and decor. It's southern. It's Italian. It's a weird mix of both but kinda works. The prixe fix let's you pick any three food items. Any THREE?!?!?! You could do three entrees, three pastas, hell you could do three friend chickens if you wanted. I love the optionality. We sat at the bar and the music playing was 2000s rock. Perfect.
I thought the bucatini was my favorite - garlicky and perfectly cooked. I would skip hush puppies. And, gnocchi wasn't for me but I could see how peeps love it. Gotta get the fried chix. Always.
This place is perfect for a date or with a group of friends!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

First meal on our short weekend trip to NYC. Came here on a Saturday 3pm for the pasta happy hour, and it was pretty empty. The restustaurant was small with only a few tables and the walls were decorated with cute dog paintings in Victorian clothing. The wings we ordered were flavorful and sweet with a hint of chili. My favorite pasta dish would be the Lumache with braised pork in a creme fraiche sauce. Pasta was cooked perfectly while the braised pork just melts and it was full of flavor. The Agnolotti with bacon was tasty, the agnolotti was silk and chewy and worked greatly with the texture of the bacon bits. It is a bit pricey with half off happy hour, each dish came out to be over 20 dollars.

This place is rave worthy. Every single bite of food was star worthy. And we genuinely enjoyed every interaction with the staff. They were personable, funny and gave great recommendations. All of this was only made better by the quirky but elevated atmosphere.
I cannot wait to come back. I just hope we can get another reservation!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm a huge fan of fried chicken and heard great things about Bird Dog, so I was really excited to come and try some of the best fried chicken in New York. Welp, I wasn't really impressed by it - I've definitely had much jucier, flavorful fried chicken. It's good, but nothing too special, and leans on the much pricier side of dinner options. I will say though that the portion sizes are really large. The hush puppies were quite good, but I think honey butter tastes amazing on everything.
The service was quite nice and the overall ambiance makes for a good dinner, but I wasn't really impressed by the food and that's what I largely base my reviews off of.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Pasta happy hour is the happiest of hours. Half-priced pastas available from 4-6 pm, in the bright outdoor shack thing.
I'm not quite sure why food happy hours are not more prevalent, but anyone reading this with the power to influence menus should get on that ASAP.
Because we came in specifically for this happy hour, we ordered every single pasta (six on the menu, but we received seven and no one was sad about it) + fried chicken, and we drank a bottle of wine per person. And we tipped well. This is a moneymaker.
Now, I wish I could tell you about each individual pasta in detail, but there were seven of them and again, lots of wine involved (and the online menu is different from the one we saw). Things I do know:
1. There wasn't a bad one in the bunch.
2. The mafaldini with the bolognese was excellent.
3. The one the waiter described as "garlic bread in pasta form" was *chef's kiss*.
4. The one he described "as if cacio e pepe and carbonara had a baby" was a quite good as well.
5. I generally liked the waiter's descriptions, and overall vibe.
6. The squid ink one was a touch too salty, even for me.
7. No one is sad during pasta happy hour.
8. These are not large bowls of pasta, and at half price they are much more reasonable than the full price.
9. I should have gone home after pasta, instead of going to the bar.
That last one is probably irrelevant to you, but really would have helped me have a better day yesterday.Helpful 8Thanks 2Love this 16Oh no 0Business owner information
