This beach is small and intimate and not exactly the best spot to go and have a swim, BUT it's a great beach for the little ones. Because of the reef that protects the little cove from the north shore swell, the water is calm and eases onto the shore gently.
The sand isn't like the fine white sand you find at most other beaches, but more of the bigger, stickier variety. Many shells and corals also line the shore. Take a walk and you'll get a good exfoliation ;)
On our last visit a few turtles were out, resting on the shore. I watched in dismay as many people decided to sit/lay within close distance to them or walk closer to get a better look/photo. Please DO NOT go near the turtles. I get it, I still get happy when I see them out and about, but please leave them alone. They have a sign posted on a beach just for that reason.
Aside from that, this beach is a nice, convenient spot to hangout and chill for a bit with our little guy where we can have peace of mind knowing a crazy wave won't come and pull him into the water.
There are parking stalls available at the entrance of Mama's Fish House. Prepandemic, the stalls would often fill up easily. At the moment, parking should be easier to find.
Just a note that there are many, many guests of the restaurant that stop by this beach as they wait to be seated. It got busier as we got closer to sunset hours. One person even tried to climb the coconut tree that was near us and fell down, almost hitting my husband.
We started to feel a little unsafe as the crowds grew and many weren't wearing their mask so, we hele'd on out of there as a precaution.
Enjoy & stay safe.Helpful 22Thanks 0Love this 25Oh no 0 - Patricia M.Chicago, IL09Oct 13, 2023
Gorgeous beach view followed by a stellar meal, service and ambiance at Mama's. Loved this place - would give more stars if possible.

If you've eaten at Mama's Fish House, you've more than likely taken pics of this beach, which is one of the jewels of the restaurant.
The beach is pretty small and intimate. The white sand is of the bigger variety and does a great job of massaging your feet while walking. There are no waves because of the reef that protects the entire cove, so it's great for kids. But with kids comes that gross feeling of urine in the water. We waited for high tide to jump in so the water would be flushed out. The swimmable area is full of rocks and not very big. There are no restrooms. There is a shower but I believe it's for the use of guests staying at the Mama's Inn, but there's no shower security personnel so you should be fine using it. There are about 10 beach access parking stalls within the Mama's Fish House parking lot. Look for the blue cones on the right as you enter.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Trace G.Maui, HI106126428Jun 9, 2018
Nice beach, a bit crowded since it's right at Mama's Fish House. But a great place to hang out and snap some photos while waiting for your lunch table as long as it's not too windy. This beach can get quite breezy (it's less windy in the cove right outside the restaurant area).

This is my absolute favorite beach in Maui. I have never eaten at the fish house despite it's great rep, but I saw this little cove from the road on my way back from haiku. I just had to stop and see the beach up close.
So I pulled into the parking lot and asked the parking guys if I could just use the beach without being a customer and they said no problem!
There is actually a thin path down around the restaurant that you could use to get down to the beach but I just decided to walk through the restaurant so I could check it out. Looked good. Smelled good. Very pricey.
Anyway, no one really thinks to use this beach for swimming or sunbathing bc of the location but it's perfect! There are vacation rentals in front too. Chatted with owner and will probably stay there next time I visit the island.
The restaurant isn't situated right up to the water so it's not weird either. There were about 3-4 others using the beach beside me.
Anyway, this is the most beautiful hidden cove on the island for sure!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Charlie M.Carmel, IN73220Aug 5, 2018
When we went there was a big sea turtle sunning itself! Definitely real, and definitely cool.

Albeit lunch was good it was by far the worst value for the dollar that I have ever experienced.
$100 bucks for 2 salads for lunch, without liquor or wine. Many other beaches just as good and several restaurants on Front Street in Lahaina equal to Mama's quality of food and service at much lower prices. My first and last visit to Mama's Fish House.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kelli H.Sacramento, CA140158138May 27, 2017

I love this beach for quiet mornings alone or with friends. It's mainly tidepools, so not recommended for large groups or if you really want some beach action.
