The people seem caring enough, but I've only been here a couple hours. I'm here to stay with my husband while he undergoes rehab. He was transferred earlier today from Medical City Plano. That hospital was really good. The nurses, the doctors and just people in general were really helpful. Each floor had a nourishment room where I could go and get ice and water. We were able to order our meals over the phone and the menu was pretty varied. Most of the food was pretty good. But when I arrived at Baylor Scott & White Rehab in downtown Dallas, it was very restrictive and controlled. There's no choice for the meals, the food is very bland and bad (dry), and you can't help yourself to the ice and water machines. They asked about the personal items we brought. The room makes me feel chlostrophobic. I have a bad back and the chair that I have to sleep in doesn't give any support at all. The pictures show spacious rooms, but that's not the case. I may not be able to stay with my husband after all. I can't get comfortable. It's Christmas Eve and I just hope I can get a ride home.

I had some complications with blood pressure after bilateral knee replacement and wasn't able to begin serious rehab for 2 weeks. By the grace of God I was accepted into Baylor Scott &White Institute for Rehabilitation and they have jump started my rehabilitation and recovery. The institute works like a well oiled machine, with every doctor , physical therapist, occupational therapist, case manager and more working together to bring about the best outcome for each patient. I had an OT and a PT assigned to evaluate and manage my care and treat me, and other OTs and PTs also worked with me. Each therapist had unique knowledge and skills to bring to the table. It was a tremendous blessing to be here.

Stay away! I have on multiple occasions directly and through my insurance, reached out to Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation and to its accounting department about the $1,534.58 this company overcharged me. Although no one from this business is disputing that I am owed this amount, the employees of this company have given me excuse after excuse on why it has yet to return to me what it overcharged me. Here are some of the most recent excuses I have received.
I was told on May 19 by someone working at the front desk, three months after the company first admitted to overcharging me that the reason why the money has not been returned to me is because I have not been discharged by the company's accounting department. This is ridiculous since I have on multiple occasions already communicated that I no longer wish to receive treatment, especially since this company has been dragging its feet on returning what is owed to me. Further, since when does an accounting department of a healthcare company need to or has the authority to discharge a patient? I called the accounting department, and sure enough, was told that the accounting department does not have the authority to discharge me as a patient.
Instead, I was told by the company's accounting department on May 19 that my check was mailed to the wrong address and that it would take another 6 months before a new check would be generated. This is also a bogus claim since the claim was made one day after the postmark date of a letter from the company asking me to fill out a survey. This letter contains my correct address, so how can my address on file be wrong if the company is successfully sending mail to my address by using my correct address? Further, why should the burden be on me, the victim in this unethical ordeal, to wait for 6 months if a company wrongfully overcharged me in the first place?
It has been another three weeks since I last spoke to the company's accounting department, yet, I still have not received a check for $1,534.58. The accounting department has not responded to additional attempts to reach out. The company's actions show that it lacks any modicum of integrity. Further, the company's actions have also caused me significant harm, and have made it difficult for me to pay for other medical expenses. Save yourself from all this trouble, go enroll with a more trustworthy company that won't overcharge you and use illegal means to hold on to your money!

Well I'm posting and it's a low two star , only because things that happened were corrected, but then they would continue. 1st the transfer from Baylor to rehab took 5hours cause the two facilities couldn't figure out how to move a patient each blaming each other , but that changed when I arrived then magically they could run and get her. 2 and the records can be pulled up how many times when pushing the nurses button how long it took to get a nurse to the room or answer or a tech .. as a husband way to long ...3 most nurses couldn't help taking my wife to the bathroom above that I guess or they looked at me cause they thought I was certified when I was only certified for the wheel chair but never made the attempt to ask ? Cleanliness spotty one day a great crew cleaning next day crap every where we were here for close to a month honestly I shouldn't have to complain everyday ,, beds weren't made , showers not given . Sad part my wife didn't understand all the time. Things usually got done when I was her cause I am my wife's advocate honestly like tonight her bed was not done today and hasn't showered in three days cause it's to hard or not the right day , that option should be everyday, it's not like employees were nice , more like if they want to go the extra mile , or they'd say I'll be back and I'm sure they got busy at times but to come back and at least offer I'm sure in a 12 hour shift they could find the time! Just a lot of complacency.. and also when male techs or nurses working if possible scheduling of showers and bathroom with a woman my wife was always unsure and was afraid to call when males were on duty... if it wasn't for therapy and transfers I don't know where this place would be .. nurses and techs that did a wonderful job they know who they are , thank you! Oh and the whole menu cluster $&@@@$& didn't get to order the first 4 days , I could've taken pictures but didn't want to embarrass anyone.. then some days when my wife was in therapy they'd come and leave and not come back then the next day mystery food and weekends crazy bad ... I guess for me there was no consistency, then scheduling, who gets my wife ready for therapy ? When it's not ADL just so much . Anyway QC I saw once would have been nice to see again. I could keep going and sorry if I've been focused on the negatives .. but they need someone to take charge following behind nurses and techs and asking how it's going and that's every patient , every day , 6x a day and should inspect the floors the rooms , anyway hope this helps people ... thank you for responding, please leave me an email or phone number and name so I can contact!

I know my issues are not as exciting , interesting or severe as some other patients but that does not mean they are not very real and restrict my life considerably. Allison seems knowledgeable about balance issues, one of the most knowledgeable therapists I have ever been to however in the months I have been treated by this rehab facility it seems most of the time was spent with just testing my balance and psychological testing. However today I was released and after being told it looked like I was faking when I fell I was told to use my cane at all times as if that is what I should be satisfied with. That is why I went there, so I would not have to use my cane. I know from experience if I am treated with balance exercises my balance improves to the point that I do not need assistance.

When I started there I stated that I had been to balance therapy several times in the past with noticeable positive results and asked to do balance exercises and have my husband be taught how to spot me so neither of us would get injured if I fell. While at Baylor Physical Therapy I have done very few balance exercises. Most of the time was spent doing things I already do at home and when I go out (walking, turning around, etc. with her appraising the results or testing my balance or answering psychological questionnaires. I am now discharged with the appraisal "You have met your goals you set" (from the psychological questionnaires) no better than I was when I started and never getting the training I went there for. Not only that but accused of faking because I fell in slow motion.

After my loved one suffered a spinal cord injury, we didn't know what to do, but luckily we fell upon this location which specializes in spinal cord injuries. Their specialized rehabilitation teaches the patient how to live life from a wheelchair. As terrible and as sad as an injury like this is, no one was in there moping. The positive energy that fills this hospital is amazing. It's truly incredible to see what a person can do with the right information. This rehabilitation center provides the patient with information that, while not hard, may have never been utilized. I give this place five stars because the staff, every one of them were sincere, positive, and accommodating. I have one exception. A doctor who seems to have fallen into a rut of repetition, unwilling to personalize his specific and unique authority. Dr. Lance Bruce. When questioned about a credible, however unique (to the patient) condition, he blew it off and was rather rude. I am not going to get into specifics, but my family has health care experience so we weren't just talking out of our respective you know whats. But since there is such minimal contact with this doctor, even if you are his patient, and since the real support comes from everyone else here, I still give this place an A+ for making such a terrible situation for someone into a manageable lifestyle.
Family is also welcome at all times. Each patient has a weekly meeting about their progress in which their doctor, physical therapist, nurse, social worker, and family are in attendance.

I came back and my friend is indeed doing better. She was in a good mood and mentioned several times that she is ready to go home. I had to keep this visit short too because it had been a long day for her. Rehab and therapy. All in all she herself was happy and I was happy for her.

***** Before I went up - I went to the restroom. TMI -I know but when I was in there I heard a lady crying. When she came out of the stall I told her that I hoped that she would be ok. She told me that her dad was there. This is more so for her encouragement if nothing else. At times the strength you carry - it's giving to those who need it the most. Stay strong.

I was a patient. It was run like a prison. Personnel seemed more concerned with their own well-being than that of the patients. Quality of care was generally good. Management sucked.
