The service was excellent and the staff are very friendly, leaving you feeling important. The food was also delicious and we ate every crumb on our plates.

We each got a glass of rosé and beef tartar as our appetizer. The ring of beef tartar was decorated so nicely, it almost makes you not want to eat it. Don't forget to mix it in with the brown butter egg emulsion, which added a unique flavor to the dish. We got the poached halibut, which was very flakey and the Amish chicken, which was delicious as well. For dessert, we both got the sticky toffee pudding. It was worth every bite.

The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because everything on the menu seemed to be a supplement, especially in the main course section. The chicken and the halibut were the only two that didn't cost extra.

Wow!! 5 stars all around, from the perfect table in the house, to a great selection of wines, dishes made so well, and they have the most beautiful wine cellar.

      Staff were great all around.

Bare in mind this place is NOT CHEAP, but you'll get your moneys worth- for sure.

It's very hard to get a table here, but you can try a walk-in and even then, you're not guaranteed a table.

We started off with the tuna tartare, then I had the CARNAROLI RISOTTO which consists of - forest mushrooms, chives, parmesan, and jus.
My date had the PEKIN DUCK which had- butternut squash, freekeh, broccoli rabe, and raspberry,
      We also had the Branzino.

For dessert we had the pumpkin cheesecake.
Just wow! I'm literally frothing at the mouth, thinking of how good each dish was,

Thank you Paolo and the entire Batard team for going over and above. Truly memorable.

I would definitely return, if I could get a resy.

Went for restaurant week earlier in the year and originally booked a table outside. They seated us inside because we were 10-15 mins late and they had a different reservation. But seriously thank god because it was quite hot outside that day!

Table was cramped with other tables and tbh the reason why I'm not giving this place all the 5 stars. At a Michelin star restaurant I like to enjoy the food and beverage and treat it like an experience but this place was so so busy with multiple tables right beside ours and waiters ... anyway!

Food and service were excellent (only disappointed with the ambiance)! Started with the beef tartare and cured salmon. Fresh ingredients and nice flavor pairings make both apps very appealing. Highly recommend!

For mains, had the venison loin and Branzino. Good sides with both. Nicely cooked veggies with the jus, and the proteins perfectly flavored. Nicely curated dishes - I mean not out-of-the-world or anything but good!

Pot de creme and pear galette - highly highly recommend. They aced the desserts and we ended our meal on a very high note!

Overall, definitely a must visit as it is great food for the price they charge. For the restaurant week price, we definitely scored a deal :)

I have no words to describe how delightful our meal was!!! We booked a reservation a while back to celebrate and wanted to find a nice Michelin starred restaurant and Batard did not disappoint! We both got the 2 course option. We also got drinks (I forgot the name, but it was the vodka one) and it was very good and quite strong!

We tried the truffle rissotto, which might have been one if the best things I have ever tasted! Perfectly rich and balanced, with just the right texture to the rice and the truffle was so so good (my first time trying shaved truffle). We both ordered fishes for mains - I got the poached halibut and she got the branzino. Both were very well cooked and the halibut was shiny and tender. The sauce was rich and well balanced with a kick of acidity. The dessert... the dessert was SO good. We got the pear galette and the walnut ice cream it came with was such a wonderful flavor. Our taste buds were truly going craaaazy!

The bread and butter served was also so so good. The olives in the bread added wonderful savoriness and the butter was rich and light. The biscotti at the end was very good too!

Batard oddly feels like a banquet hall, given it is one big square with high ceilings and yellow wallpaper. Almost like a large hotel lobby restaurant in the middle of Jersey, definitely not Tribeca. You get to chose between 2 / 3 / 4 options with the 3 options one as a possible 2 appetizers + 1 main (since the desserts weren't particularly appealing). The food felt a little stale and not particularly appetizing or appealing. Maybe because they're closing in a few days, they have completely given up. A new fancy restaurant is opening in its place, so I am excited to see what will open in its place.

Solid experience and ambiance overall. I liked the medium-sized space with well spaced tables and a rather quiet atmosphere. The food was great, but not every dish blew me away. The duck appetizer didn't surprise me in terms of taste, presentation or portion. The star of the plate was actually the mustard even though there wasn't much of it. My favorite dishes were the Hamachi crudo, duck entrée and the strawberry rhubarb dessert. The Hamachi crudo had a unique sauce that I kept going back to taste until it was finished. The duck entrée was exceptional in taste, portion size and presentation. There was more duck than I thought there might be and the skin was super crispy with a sauce that I briefly thought about swimming in. The strawberry rhubarb dessert had texture without being too complex flavor wise and not too sweet. It was a refreshing way to end the meal.

Came here during restaurant week with my gf. One of the super rare opportunities to try out a Michelin Star restaurant at a cheaper price; $60 for a three course prix-fixe. Quality and quantity may have been compromised due to restaurant week.

We ordered various items so we could try various dishes Batard had to offer:
First Course: Came out within the minute.
Beef Tartare - this dish was slightly too oily, but was still enjoyable.
Salmon Crudo - loved the flavor of the sauces that complemented the salmon, which I presume to be coconut emulsion, avocado mousse, chive oil as it states on the menu.

Second Course: Came out about 15 minutes.
Roasted Pork Loin - I liked how well they cooked the pork loin, which I kept dipping it in pesto sauce that came as part of the presentation of the dish. I worry that this dish was not super filling.
Market Fish (Striped Sea Bass) - The presentation with the chermoula sauce could have used some work as it just looked messy. Besides that, the fish itself tasted great.

Third Course: Came out a few minutes after finished with second course.
Bitter Chocolate Tart - This is for you if you are a chocolate lover.
Peach Galette - This is a winner. I would eat another plate of this if I could.

Service itself was mixed. I had a reservation which I was not going to make on time, because the subway system sucks. I called to notify the restaurant this and the guy over the phone told me to show up no later than 10 minutes late or I'd lose my spot. We fortunately get to the restaurant eight minutes past our reservation time. I found this threat unnecessary as we sat there for 30 minutes and the restaurant wasn't even half full. Maybe this was the manager everyone else was talking about in their review?

Our waiter was just okay. Did not seem too friendly, no smile, just there to do his job. He gave us an explanation of the first set of dishes, but neglected to explain the second and third courses. At least he was good at making sure our water glasses were full.

The guy I ordered a glass of wine from, however, exceptional in service. Gave great wine recommendation, double checked on the wine that I ordered, presentation, tasting, and professional pour.

Overall, the food itself for the most part was great. However, the quality of service needs improvement and to have been awarded a Michelin Star, you would expect service to be flawless.

As I type this review turned rant, my final word to Batard is that they should not participate in restaurant week anymore as it seems like such a burden to them rather than a benefit.

We came here for a Restaurant Week dinner on a Thursday night. Inside, the area was relaxed and comfortable, high-end but not pretentious, and mostly filled with young professionals. Service was attentive and kind. This meal was pretty expensive, typical of Michelin star restaurant, but I really have nothing meaningfully negative to say -- it was very nice.

Salmon Crudo: A small, but mighty appetizer, the Salmon Crudo served as an excellent introduction to the other courses. I do wish there was a bit more here, particularly for sharing. The avocado mousse complemented the salmon well. Also, I loved the crispy fish skin which took the dish up a notch.

Roasted Pork Loin: Juicy, perfectly cooked pork served with pesto sauce and roasted peach slices. This was likely the best pork I've had. All of the flavors went very well -- I enjoyed this quite a lot.

Bitter Chocolate Tart: Quite the elegant and eclectic dessert, this one really hit the spot after our entrees. The rich chocolate crumbled, topped with smooth chocolate poofs, went very well with the creamy sauce and saffron marshmallows, adding much more depth. Very much recommend.

We took the C train from our hotel in the Theatre District to the Canal Street station. A quick right and a left and we were at Batard.

The room is gorgeous, with bas-relief wall finishing. It's lovely, and the tables are well spaced. Unfortunately, it's loud. There's nothing to absorb sound, and a loud table across the room was pretty loud at our table as well.

However, that didn't detract from the food. The food was absolutely perfect.

Batard is Prix Fixe; choose 2 or 3 courses and pay a flat price ($79 or $89). What's unusual is the selection; you can choose 3 starters, or a main and 2 desserts, or anything but 3 mains. That's a pretty cool way to customize a menu.

The wine list is heavy on French bottles from well chosen producers. We selected a premier cru white burg; the somm knew that the vintage was sold out and recommended a similar wine (at a similar price point) that fit the bill well.

We started with salmon rillettes and seasonal risotto with goat cheese. The salmon was dill heavy (the way we like it) and served with house made potato chips. Simple, but delicious. The risotto was the star of the first course; the rice was perfectly done, and the pickled carrot ribbons cut the lusciousness of the chèvre perfectly.

The duck was tender, cooked to medium rare, with properly crispy skin. The roasted figs were a great accompaniment. The quail was served two ways; a roasted thigh with crispy skin, and a prosciutto wrapped sausage made from the breast, heavily seasoned with sage. An outstanding early fall dish.

Desserts were lovely; a pear galette with a house made crust, and a manchego cheesecake unlike any cheesecake we've had before.

Service was professional and attentive, but not overly so. The meal was coursed well, and we didn't feel rushed.

      $360 with food, wine, tip.

Highly recommended for a great French meal in Tribeca!

Bâtard in TriBeCa blew us away, they truly deserved their Michelin star. We had an impeccable dining experience from start to finish, what a way to celebrate our "pottery" anniversary.

The restaurant motif is simple yet elegant. The menu is one page and diners can choose from 2, 3, or 4 course deals or a la carte.

We first picked a nice bottle of French Rosé served with warm homemade bread and butter while we dawdled over the menu. We then selected one appetizer each my partner chose Pâté de Campagne (duck, smoked pork, and apricots, and served with sourdough toast) while I had Beef Tartare with brown butter egg emulsion, pickled red onion, and served with garlic toast. We noted that both appetizers are served with a different toast to compliment the dishes.

For our main entree, my partner chose Amish chicken; morel mushrooms, broccoli puree, chicken farce, sauce diable and I had Snapper (in replacement of branzino) market carrots, za'atar spice, chermoula, Panisse, tahini sauce. The fish was seasoned to perfection and we both love the chicken fusion flavor, it was simply epicurean.

We concluded the dinner with Rose Vacherin; earl grey cream, summer berries, bitter orange lychee sorbet, and Yogurt cheesecake; sesame dacquoise, cherries, yuzu gel, yogurt cherry sorbet.

All the dishes came in a timely fashion and were beautifully plated. The staff tidied up our table all throughout the stages of our dinner. The restaurant crew each have different functions and we were looked after impeccably throughout the entire dinner. This is one of our best dinners in NYC.
