After a very gracious, professional and thoughtful response from the business owner clarifying the intent behind the aforementioned actions of students which I experienced from this school, I now see the reasons for them. As I did not attend driving school, and also began driving in another state I was unaware of these facts and state requirements. I apologize for diminishing the integrity of the school and the students' competency. Best wishes and safe travels to all the future SC motorists!

Alexander, thank you for your concerns. You must remember these are new drivers and they are not nearly as competent as you are as an experienced driver. Sometimes they do things that are due to their lack of experience that we at times do not have complete control over and are not in line with our teaching. We try to start them in lower traffic areas and move up as they get more comfortable, but as new drivers they do things that show their lack of experience and we are sorry for this.
Another thing you may be referring is the straight line backing. This is something that is required on the SCDMV road test. This is where you stop and back 100 feet and try to stay in the lane. The student also has to stop and let other cars pass if they come behind after starting the maneuver. We do this only on secondary roads as it would not be possible on a busy street. I am sorry it inconvenienced you but we are required to practice it to prepare the students for the test and we could not only do it in a parking lot because the student has to learn to respond to traffic. - Mercedes Z.Greenville, SC235Dec 12, 2020
Used this company for my teenage daughter and it was awesome!! I even learned a few new things. I highly recommend them for your driver training needs.

We used Auto Safe for my second son's driving school. It was a great experience unlike my other son with another driving school. The Auto Safe people were friendly, easy to deal with and made this a very good experience for my son Drew. Dan Marsceau was Drew's instructor. Dan contacted me the day before every lesson to confirm. He picked Drew up on time and Drew said he made him feel comfortable and at ease. Whenever I called the office with a question or stopped in there the ladies were always friendly and accommodating! I would recommend this driving school 100%!!

A wonderful experience! HIGHLY recommend this driving school. My 15 year old son took it. He loved it. The professionalism is top of the line and they make it easy to complete the program. Also a good value for the money.

Both of my daughters had the wonderful opportunity to receive their drivers training from Auto Safe Driving School. From the moment of first contact with the office, I knew we were in good hands. The office staff was so kind and helpful and their driving instructor, Jim Sanders was just the best. We are so thankful to Auto Safe Driving School for preparing our daughters to be great drivers and look forward to enrolling our son when he is of driving age! VERY satisfied customer :)

Our entire experience with Auto Safe was great. My son really enjoyed his driving lessons with Dan Marceau. Dan arrived at our house on time for the lessons and was kind and patient as he taught my son to drive. He also did a wonderful job teaching him how to parallel park. My other son will be driving in a few months and we will be asking for Dan again. He is a top-notch instructor!

So far I've had a few lessons with Mr. Marceau, and it's been great. At the point of the first lesson, I had all of 30 minutes experience behind the wheel, going from one street to the next in a residential area. By lesson #2, I was completely comfortable driving on a four-lane road.
Dan does a great job of figuring out what you, individually, need in order to drive safely and comfortable.
One of the first things we did is parallel parking. The reasoning behind this is because it's a bundle package, you get to practice judgment, decision-making, speed, points of reference, etc. all in one maneuver. This wasn't done with real cars, of course, but rather with a PVC-pipe structure designed to be the width and length of a standard parallel parking spot.
Throughout the process, Dan gives you a heads up on what's going to be expected/asked of you during your license test, and has you develop those habits through repetition and practice.
You're also not undercut whatsoever on time. You pay for a two-hour block of time, and you get two hours of driving experience and practice, not 1 hour 45 minutes because it took your instructor 15 minutes to get to your place.
I'm extremely happy with my decision to buy their service. Good habits start early, and bad habits are hard to break. My initial thought was that there was no way I was going to get much out of any single two hour lesson, but I'm very glad to have been proven wrong. Three two-hour lessons will give you a lot more than you would ever expect.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
