This is the restaurant inside Tucson's east side Hilton. Our party of 3 went for dinner last night. We made a reservation but is was not necessary. We got the calamari appetizer. The calamari was fried perfectly and it was not tough or chewy. The tomato dipping sauce (pomodoro?) was excellent. Husband had the beef short rib dinner (with broccolini and polenta) and our friend had the beef short ribs over pasta. Both of those dishes were very very good. I was looking at an outdated menu on yelp before we went, and I had picked out the spaghetti and meatballs. It was not on the main menu any more, but I found it on the "extra" menu, so I ordered it. It was disappointing.
Husband enjoyed the spicy margaritas.
The service was friendly but slow.
I would be willing to try this place again and I wouldn't hesitate to eat here if I was staying at the Hilton and didn't want to go out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Lottie Y.West McLean, VA29111510Apr 3, 2023
This place was located in Hilton and it's quite big with a big bar.
It has mountains view. The service and the food were great. I liked the garlic bread and the short rib.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 5, 2023
We had a lovely Christmas Day dinner here with the family. There were several stations of food for the buffet. The appetizer station had shrimp cocktail, meats, cheeses, bruschetta and more. There was a carving station with lamb, Wellington and ham. All was cooked to perfection. They also had an area with a chicken dish, potatoes, veggies and desserts. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays and allowed us many places for family photos. Our server Megan was very attentive and as was the manager, Darin. They both made sure we had everything we needed.

Darren took great care of us! We enjoyed a light dinner, wine and cocktails during our overnight stay at the Hilton. We would definitely come back to dine even if we weren't guests at the hotel.

Decent service. The food was cold and just not good. I actually think it was not made fresh but warmed up. Wish I had not wasted my time and money. Very few customers in a hotel setting should have been my first warning.

We used to think this was the best Italian restaurant. My pasta sat so long, it was like jello when it arrived. Think bad meal at Olive Garden at twice the price

Me and my boyfriend both got food poisoning after eating from this palace. We were up all night throwing up. The worst part about it was having to drive 5 and a half hours back home in pain with diarrhea and nausea. We are both still very sick. Highly disappointed. The positive was it was not crowded and our server was nice.

It's still delicious here! I came to Alloro with my family, last weekend.
As far as hotel restaurants go, sometimes they can be on the generic side. Most offering traditional American fare consosting of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Most of the time, that's perfectly fine, but that won't draw in many locals. Alloro on the other hand, is a very fresh concept. The quality of Italian food they offer here rivals many higher-end Italian restaurants that I've patronized.
On the Sunday we came in, we were the only ones there besides someone at the bar; that's a crying shame as this place absolutely rocks. The service was prompt, friendly, and informative, and the food is out of this world. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and grilled chicken. For a relatively simple dish, they did a tremendous job. Also, try the Alloro spritzer.
I cannot wait to try all of the other things the menu has to offer.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Mar 10, 2018Previous reviewThis place blows the old Vistas Bar and Grill out of the water. For starters, the restaurant no longer looks like a blocked off ballroom with a tiny bar. It really is amazing what 1 month, a major renovation, and a menu overhaul can do. And the food was already really good.
I ate here about a month ago and my mother and I, both ordered the grilled artichoke and we shared the antipasto board. It was one of those rare times where we liked EVERYTHING equally as well. The artichokes were cooked and seasoned well, had just the right amount balsamic vinegar and aioli and the three cheese and three meat antipasto board was so fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the gorgonzola, smoked salmon, prosciutto, and pickled vegetables. The apricots were also a nice touch.
Overall, I really enjoyed everything. The renovation was awesome, the food was delicious (but pretty expsnsive) and the service was friendly and prompt. I found it to be a great choice for higher end Italian cuisine. - Diane K.Seattle, WA010114Oct 18, 2022
Forget this restaurant is in a hotel, the food is incredible! Hubby had a Ribeye steak that was incredibly flavorful, it needed no sauce. The pasta with short rib and Gorgonzola sauce OMG!! Esmeralda was a wonderful server

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
For Christmas Day, I made reservations on Open Table for my family for 5:30 PM. Arriving promptly, we went to the hostess to check in. I gave her our name and she stated-with immediate defiance-that I had no reservation.
She then asked if I made the reservation through Open Table. I indicated that I had and she stated they were having "problems" with Open Table. She directed us to have a seat, rolled her eyes and said she'd get her manager. We did as instructed.
A few minutes later a man (who I assume to be the manager) comes to us and immediately rolls his eyes and aggressively states that he just "got off the phone" with Open Table and that I did not have a reservation. I offered to show him the confirmation.
The man was rude and accusatory from the beginning. He rolled his eyes again and indicated that he may be able the find a spot for us. His tone was aggressive for the entire conversation. We walked out and will NEVER return.
My main concerns are as follows:
1. Until trying to find a reservation for Christmas Day I had never even heard of this place. When I made the reservation, I did so more out of necessity than actually wanting to eat here. They were actually lucky we were trying the place at all.
2. I was essentially called a liar by both the hostess and the manager despite having evidence that I had a reservation.
3. I don't recall the last time I've been treated so rudely without provocation.
The entire situation was offensive and a little embarrassing as I had been the one to make the reservation.
I understand that it was Christmas and that it was busy. That's no excuse to call me a liar though.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
