No the 49rs were the mascot for Long Beach state. We do have all the NFL games on. Also the best burger in town. Thank you

Went to the 49rs Tavern last Friday around 5pm. It was slightly busy. Not too crazy. The bartender/waitress came up and asked what we wanted. I said the QR codes on the tables weren't working, and I needed a menu. She pointed to the board that I couldn't really see across the bar and said "sorry we have no menus, but it's on the board." She walked away and never came back. After 20 minutes of waiting, we saw her sitting at the bar on her phone. We walked out and went across the street to the 562 bar and had a much better experience. It's too bad because I just moved in right across the street. They could have had a regular customer. Oh well.

Came into the bar with a friend and Cal State Long Beach alum who recalls coming here many times while in school. The bar looks very nice with some fancy graphite bar counter and a couple of pool tables.
Would love to come in and try the food but that will be for another day!
I did notice that we had tried to call 2-3 times to see if it was open and decided to come and see physically; of course they were but they were not busy yet they never answered the phone?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 2 - Allison L.Torrance, CA9313062Sep 8, 2023
My husband and I were down in Long Beach picking up paperwork. It was a rainy day. We wanted to stick around the area and have a couple drinks at the closest bar.
We walked into 49rs Tavern & Grill - as the first customers - and we were immediately warmly welcomed by the friendly bartender Baylee.
She was so fun, we ended up staying for a few rounds of drinks. And she was sad to see us go.
Only thing is this bar is beer and wine only.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

49rs Tavern & Grill is a upscale Dive Bar. 2-Pool tables and a shuffleboard. The Burgers are the best you are going to find in the area. Gary makes a mean Burger called the DirtBag Burger. Unbelievable in flavor and has just the right amount of everything to make it the best. Hours are 11AM to 10PM Sunday through Thursday and 11AM to 11PM Friday and Saturday. They have a Firemans hour and a happy hour.

No longer kid/family friendly. Came in on Sunday afternoon for burgers and grabbed a table on the patio. Manager came by, stated that the new owner doesn't want kids on the premises and told us to leave.
We ended up up Roundin 3rd which had a much more inviting environment.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Good morning Zach, yes I’m sorry that there are no longer kids allowed in the 49rs Tavern. There is a sign posted at the door stating 21 and over. I apologize for the inconvenience. As the new owner it was a challenging decision but for the safety and the bar atmosphere that was the decision. Thank you for your understanding.
Jan 31, 2011Previous reviewWe recently stopped in here because we heard that it had been taken over by new owners. They have done some work, added some booths, memorabilia and it just looks cleaner and better. We had the Primo beer which I had never heard of, but was very good. We stuck with hot dogs having the Dirtbag which a foot long dog with cheese, onions and jalepenos and a regular chili dog. The dogs were a bit overcooked but the chili was really good. There was a small crowd for the Laker game. Overall the place has a good feel to it and is a cool spot to get a beer and some food on a Sunday afternoon.
