I was ever so grateful to find this little gem of a place on a hot day in Woodland!
The girl behind the counter was very personable. I love the concept and visual Decor of this little ice cream/sandwich/cookie/cupcake shop?
It is my hope that the owner takes stock in a business class, and markets more original ice cream (gunthers , salt&straw or even dixion a creamery-would be local-and taste better than crystal)
I will be back here again to try their food..I am completely and whole heartedly into supporting local business owners-because most often than not they are original , provide outstanding customer service and when they take pride in doing better then the other guy--it shows in their menu, preparedness and atmosphere created.
I think they could be onto a great thing here- do it and do it well.. And woodland will love you!!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - H R.Guernsey, CA825Jun 27, 2014
I just want to preface this review by saying I do NOT want this business to fail. Woodland needs a nice little eatery like this.. That being said, this is just based on my own personal experience.
Went in with my husband around 11:30 on a Thursday. There were two people in there already seated and eating. One couple walked in behind us. (just setting up an idea of how many people were there). There were two young ladies who were working the counter and they were very nice. What wasn't nice was how many items they were OUT of! They were out of potato salad, all of the soups were in the "process of being made" and they were out of Asian salad. I'm sorry but at 11:30 you are just now making the soup? This place opens at 10 am. How are you already out of anything on the menu?
It took 20 minutes to get our food. We went by the receipt from our credit card payment. This is a really bad thing for this business since they are right in the heart of downtown and people from the courts and surrounding county offices come to eat and can only take a half an hour. 20 minutes is way too long to get a sandwich and a salad.
Food was fine. Nothing to write home about but highly overpriced. My sandwich was big but my macaroni salad came in a very small to go container.
This business JUST opened and this is not a good way to start off.
Again, this was just MY experience.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rick G.Woodland, CA05055Feb 14, 2015
The cookies that we got here were relatively flavorless. There were very few customers in here on a Friday night so I figure that plain cookies are the norm. The decor was kind of shabby with a candy shelf that was home made out of plywood and dirty table decorations. The buttercream frosting that I got on the specialty valentines day cookie was pretty good, but I don't think I'll be back.

I've tried the sandwiches here, too--really fresh ingredients and bread. This is now my go-to sandwich place.

I know every new business has an adjustment period, especially restaurants. And I am more lenient during the soft opening period.
I came here twice, once for desserts and once for lunch
The toffee is AMAZING. Red Velvet Cupcake was also yum. But I don't like that they serve Crystal Brand ice cream ...if I wanted that, I would just go to Food 4 Less.
Lunch was good. I had the Ragin Cajun. It was tasty, but took 40 minutes for our order to arrive.
I'll still go back. After all, they've only been open a week and have a lot of kinks to work out :]Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Derrick J.CA, CA386368Jul 11, 2014
Was not a good start to walk in and see the chef, and what looks like the owner, eating eating in the kitchen..then making food. I guess its a good sign they at least eat their own food? $19 for a turkey sandwhich, club sandwhich and two bottled waters. You get a choice of either macaroni or potato salad with your sandwhich, I chose potato. Turkey Sandwhich wasnt anything you couldn't make at home and the club sandwhich was literally a couple slices of turkey and one slice of ham- no bacon or anything special. Potato salad was nontraditional and was more like orange peppery potatos. Not to mention its about a half cup serving in plastic container that you would normally serve side sauce in. Table and chairs were flimsy and felt like they were going to break. Plates were cheap, thin plastic, which reminded me of the plates used to serve children at a daycare. Just wasnt anything that would make me go back and a lot that made me never want to go back! Also very concerened about the eating in the kitchen and the girl at the front drinking her soda and serving deserts. Her open soda was about a foot away from the glass desert case.. I do not want the chef or owners slobber in my meal.

We loved the food and snacks from this place. Delicious almond toffee and Russian tea cookie and very good Cajun chicken sandwich. Would love to visit again if in the area.

I TRULY want Woodland businesses to thrive and be here forever....but this one will not make it. I met a friend for lunch- had the tuna salad sandwich and it comes with a quarter cup of mac salad. A canned soda and that was it. Counter girl first told us what they DIDN'T have and pointed out that only one soup out of the 5 or so listed was actually available. When I asked for a cup and ice for the soda she said, "we usually don't have ice- but I will check." She came back with a smile, a Dixie size cup (small) and ICE. Like it was a BIG deal! Really?
The san was ...average for what you would make yourself at home. The salad was so seasoned with garlic it was actually too hot. The canned soda was great! :)
We did buy a cookie before leaving....WONDERFUL! Big and perfect. I believe they should do a few things- do them well and then see about growing the business into a lunch spot. On another note, a woman walked up to order a turkey sandwich and she was told that the turkey had just come from the oven and was too hot to slice....really? That would see to be a plus!? Fresh and hot turkey!? The price was too high for what you get...go to Mr. Pickles!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brittney D.Woodland, CA814Jul 11, 2014
Let me start out by saying, I had really high hopes for this place. I started following their Facebook before I actually tried the food and they would post other peoples reviews about how delicious and fresh the food is....It really isn't that amazing. The girl at the counter had good customer service. Friendly. The food really isn't anything to shout about. Just average. I had the turkey sandwich and a chocolate chip cupcake. The sandwich was ok. The side of macaroni salad was literally 2 bites. The cupcake was really small and tasted like a box mix. I'm convinced that the people writing all the good reviews are friends and family of the owner and workers or they have never ate at a real 5 star café.
