I've finally found Drunken Noodle in the Upstate - and its delicious! My fiance and I visited Lemongrass for a late dinner in downtown Greenville. The restaurant is conveniently located on Main Street. The portion sizes were extremely generous and the ambiance was eclectic.
I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, a spicy noodle dish that is also affectionately referred to as Drunken Noodle. The Drunken Noodle was spicy and flavorful, but wasn't overwhelming. I could have easily increased the spiciness and still enjoyed my dish.
My fiance ordered the Massamun chicken curry which came with rice. It reminded me of Panaeg curry with added potatoes, pineapple and cashews. It was also good!
I will definitely be back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 17, 2018
Super appeTHAIzing!! (See what I did there???)
If you walk too quickly down Main St, you might just miss this gem. The restaurant is modest in size with probably only a dozen tables or so, but we've always managed to get a seat without waiting. The service is always friendly.
Their food is on point and portion size can feed a small village! I always ask for medium spice level which gives me a good amount of kick.
- Pad Thai: Always good. Just the perfect level of sweet & spicy.
- Pad See Ew: So savory and I love the broccoli in there.
- Panang curry: A healthier option with plenty of meat and a mixture of vegetables. Add that on top some jasmine rice and yum!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Julian T.Danville, VA4146155Oct 7, 2020
I stopped in tonight because I was passing by. I am In town for work and went for a walk. I was seated immediately and brought a water. The server explained the menu and offered recommendations. I ordered Tom Yum soup and it was delicious and had the perfect kick. The chicken Satay was my meal and it came with a very large portion of the peanut sauce. It was uncomfortably quiet. They need music to kick up the ambience. The servers danskos are so loud on the hard wood floors.
I will return if I'm back in town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 9, 2020
Yummy Yummy Yummy! I was visiting Greenville for the evening and wanted to find a dinner spot in the downtown area since their downtown is so cute. I'm really glad we ran into Lemongrass. There was only one other party and we were seated about 12ft from them. There was only one waitress but that wasn't an issue since there weren't a lot of people.
I had the chicken pad Thai and it was your standard pad Thai but good nonetheless! My date had the pad see ew and it was AMAZING!! You could tell it had been marinated for a while because the flavors were so rich and delicious. I was a little jealous I hadn't ordered it! We also got dumplings as an appetizer, they were good although you only get 4. Overall, I really enjoyed this place. The food was great, the decor was nice, and the service was friendly. AND as a bonus we both had leftovers for lunch the next day!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tnay W.Oxon Hill, MD207582Jan 11, 2019
I visit here once a week for lunch.
The waitress is sweet & she always remember that I prefer no tail on my shrimps. I always go for the Pineapple Fried Rice. It never fails me!
I've had the Shrimp Curry, once. A little spicy but still good!

Great spot to get Thai food. My boyfriend and I went for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was around 8 so not much of a dinner crowd. It took a bit of time for someone to notice us at the door but their food made up for it.
The interior is very simple but modern. It was a great spot for date night. Quiet, chic and very clean. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating.
They had a lot of great selections off their menu. I opted for the Tom Kha soup (coconut coup) with added soft tofu. My boyfriend had the Seafood Tom yum, both were very tasty. One of the best Tom Kha I've had in the upstate. I had the Pad Kee mao with tofu, it was very delicious, not overly oily and great flavor. My boyfriend had the Prik King, the flavor is great also. They brought out a mini container for his rice that kept rice nice and warm. Their spice rack included their own Sambal pepper which had a lot more flavor than the one in the jar.
All in all, we had a great dinner in a great restaurant, will definitely be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 57422473Apr 26, 2018
A fantastic place on Main Street!
They were about to close early on a very slow night when we walked in. I felt bad about making the staff stay, but we were hungry and had a long trip back to Columbia.
The food is very tasty, healthy, quick and filling.
The Spicy Thai with beef and spring rolls hit the spot!
The curries are also excellent! The Masaman curry is a great hearty flavorful way to satiate your appetite, especially on a cool night.
Wash it all down with a Thai beer (the rice-based lager is phenomenal) and you will be quite glad you stopped here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 25, 2015
I came in for a solo lunch recently and was excited about the reviews. There's plenty to choose from on the menu and for some reason I was really craving some Tom Kha Gai (coconut based soup). I knew that if I had that along with an order of Pad See Ew I would be rolling myself out of there so I decided to mix it up with some appetizers instead. I ordered Thai Spring Rolls and Ka Nom Jeeb (pork & shrimp dumplings).
The place is a little fancier than I expected but nothing that made me feel out of place casually dressed. It seems like a place to power lunch as there were obviously business meetings and even job interviews going on at every two top. It seems like they bring out a spring roll with an entree order because the waitress brought one by and then second guessed it as I technically didn't order an entree (3 sides instead), but then left one for me anyway. If I had known, I probably could have skipped the order of spring rolls because it was just more of the same.
A good while passed before my soup came out and it was exactly what I was craving. One of my favorite places near me only does the Tom Kha Gai as a large shared order so I was happy to be able to get a smaller portion without needing multiple diners to join in with me. The soup is pretty light but was surprisingly filling. Then a while later came the spring rolls and dumplings. I only ate one of the rolls because I had already had the one from earlier and having 4 to myself seemed completely unnecessary. The dumplings were excellent and were brimmed with filling. High quality dim sum going on here.
The three plates were actually too much for lunch but it was nice to have some variety. I would maybe skip the spring rolls if I were to do it all over again. The other thing I would liked to have skipped was the waiting. I initially waited at the front with no hostess there... just awkwardly standing there waiting for someone to knowledge my existence. They initially seemed surprised that I was dining stag, but quickly found a place for me. I continued to wait to place my order and then a good while before the courses. My server apologized for the wait and I understand they were busy, but by the time I received my last portion of food, I had to rush to finish before my 2pm meeting (I came in at 12:30pm). Aside from the waiting, everything else was great. I'd definitely give it another shot.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 28, 2017
Best Thai food in Greenville! Kind of fancy (fancy price, too) so be prepared for that. Cheaper places with comparable food can be found elsewhere in the city. But you can't beat the location right in the heart of bustling downtown. Listen to the street musicians across the street, grab some delicious Thai food, and then finish it up with ice cream next door at Marble Slab.
Lots of people seem to have issues with the spice plates, and yes, the ones they automatically bring you are lacking. But if you ask them, they will bring out the "locals" spices which are much more varied. They should probably bring these out automatically...
My personal favorite is the shrimp for appetizer and fried rice (boring, I know) for entree. Grab some hard-to-get Thai beer while you're there! Despite the fancy atmosphere, the restaurant is actually very authentic. The owner regularly travels to Thailand to grab ingredients that are difficult to import.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 14, 2015
Disappointing service.
Sad first impression. During end of lunch hour, 45 min prior to finish lunch. not busy a total of 6 people in the place, server had a bit of an attitude, after 7min waiting to be attended to. Server wouldn't accommodate dinner menu during lunch hours.
Too much cream on the Thai tea.
No basil rolls for lunch, I might return to dinner but so disappointed at lunch will wait for awhile.
The Tom Kha tofu was very blend lacking flavors from kaffir leaves or even lemongrass. Interesting enough the place is called "lemongrass"
Main course also took a while to be ready. Simple pad see ewe, but worth it! Very good blend of flavors with super fresh broccoli and carrots, crisp tofu it could have some heat, (not asked by server). however, it was one of the better pad see ewes I've had in a while.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
